This is a great little device at the right price for keeping track of what birds I see in a year. I like to hike and run for exercise and one of my favorite hobbies is birding. This little device is great because it is inexpensive, easy to use, and allows me to document and evaluate what I've seen when I return so I don't have to spend as much time ID birds in the field. I thought the jump in zoom from 100-400-800 would be awkward but it actually works great. Take excellent video and stills for the size and cost. I also use many of Canon's higher end photo/video cameras (Canon 5d Mark iii, 90D, R6) and, of course, those produce far, far better results. But I'm not likely to go on a 3 mile run and lug around my R6 and a RF 100-500mm. Very poor picture quality. My 12 year old compact camera takes better photographs as equivalent zoom ranges. The colours are washed out and no sharpness to the photograph.

to get idea of this device take any camera with telephoto lens, turn on stabilizer on watch picture on the LCD screen. now imagine the whole thing scaled down 5 times and you realize its completely useless and feels non-organic. the capture quality is at old flip-phone level. Any lack of light leads to a lot of noise. the buttons are poorly placed ad you have to have really small hand to be able to operate the device. I having hard time to find even smallest pro in this device.

If it hits your niche, it's good, otherwise wait for v2.

Thia is an interesting device. It's got some nice benefits, and some limitations, too. It fits into a fairly small niche need, but if you have that need (and I do), it's worthwhile. The benefits: the image seen through it is decent. It's very small and portable. The limitations: the image quality is good, but not amazing. And it only likes good light (nighttime or low light has a shocking amount of noise. But you can still see). It's also got some weird stuff: no lens cover. The controls are a little strange. Not horrible, but strange. The niche: look, it's not a replacement for a solid lens on an SLR/DLSR. But if you can't or won't carry an 400 mm lens with you everyday, then it's great. Way better than just having a cell phone, for example. I hike a lot and ... MoreThia is an interesting device. It's got some nice benefits, and some limitations, too. And I'll say, it's noisy as heck at night, but I was able to capture a surprisingly good image of he moon with it.I'm very excited about the next generation of this idea.

I enjoy the product for what it is - an inexpensive (got it on a sale), light weight, zoom camera with stabilizer monocular. It is not a scope. It is not the best camera. The picture is not as good as a good set of binoculars with lens coating. It has trouble with very bright light and relatively low light, e.g. evening time of day. The stabilizer is much weaker when completely zoomed in on an object.Sounds like I am just knocking this thing, BUT I do like it. I do not use it as a camera. I am more interested in birding or looking at wildlife in general. It beats having binoculars on your neck or carrying a scope, when you really don't want the weight or aggravation, but you still would want to get a better look at something farther away if the opportunity ... MoreI enjoy the product for what it is - an inexpensive (got it on a sale), light weight, zoom camera with stabilizer monocular. It beats having binoculars on your neck or carrying a scope, when you really don't want the weight or aggravation, but you still would want to get a better look at something farther away if the opportunity presents itself e.g. birding in a city. This casual use with decent distance and image capabilities is where this thing shines. There does not seem to be anything like this product (I looked when I saw the reviews). The cost is much less than a camera. I am not into photography, so I do not need a camera. For birders, I have used it to take a pictures of something far away that I cannot see well even with the binoculars or the monocular. Looking at the image later, sometimes I can identify it. This balances out the frustration of not being able to see the animal well. Trying to i.d. later it is also kind of fun.TLDR - A cheap Jack of all trades, master of none productKnow what you will use it for before you will buy it, e.g. birding, photography, etc. This was long, and I am not going back to check grammar. I hope this helps. I do like the product, but sometimes you have to remind yourself it is not the greatest at anything.

Reasonable value but a power charger should have been included for this fairly high price. Reasonable quality pictures that are perfectly adequate to upload on social media sites. Very pocketable and compact will go with you everywhere when you leave your SLR at home. Not really a zoom but three fixed focal lengths at 100 and 400 optical and 800 digital. In good light the camera is capable of pretty nice sharp pictures and the video is also very good with excellent sound quality. Not a substitute for a real camera but an extension to a cell phone which has very limited zooming powers. Hikers and ramblers will appreciate the lightness and compactness of this device and allow them the opportunity of capturing the distant bird or elusive wildlife.

No focus
17 March 2023

I bought this camera for my granddaughters 18th birthday. She was very dissatisfied with the product, so much so it appears to be faulty, the focus does not work at all, and the pictures are not at all clear very disappointing I thought with it being a cannon and not a budget product it would be suitable for her. Now I have to find another present for her

Review of CANON PowerShot Zoom Camera - White

Good Points: My parents thought this was a great idea - it's really small and portable, and actually using it when you're out and about is really quick and easy.Improvement Points: For someone (like me) with near-perfect distance vision, it didn't really add anything - although if you find that objects at a distance are a bit blurry, this might be really useful for you. I found the image quality wasn't really good enough to be used for anything other than a quick ID snap. Also, getting a compatible charger was annoyingly difficult (and not mentioned on the website when I bought this!). In the end I returned it and will be investing the money in some decent binoculars instead.

The product excels at one thing, taking the zoomed-in photos that your phone cannot take. Aside from that, the quality and sensor size are similar to what you would find in a phone. The camera has fixed 3 zoom levels, the equivalent of 100, 400 and 800mm (the latter being digital zoom). The scenario where this really shines is watching birds or larger animals from a distance, occasionally taking photos or short videos - in good daylight (this must be specified because the camera is pretty much useless in low light).I wish this had a bigger brother (slightly better lens, slightly better sensor, slightly better battery), but as far as I can tell, this is one-of-a-kind.
