I used it most recently for the Lunar New Year events and it performed magnificently. In indoor settings, I was able to capture a fully standing performing dragon (two guys in a dragon costume) and the surrounding attendants with all the surrounding decorations. You could see the grandeur and the energy of the crowd and situation. This is what ultra wide angle can afford you. Outdoors was even better. Images are colorful, sharp, and detailed. It focuses quickly. Just a joy to use.

I rented the Canon RF 10-20mm for a full month to take with me on an international trip. I wanted make sure I would have wide coverage of a subject I would be covering, however I found my other wide angle lenses (namely the EF 17mm & 24mm TS-E) were plenty wide enough to capture the subject. I did used the 10-20 as much as possible while I had it and it made some brilliant images. That said, I *almost* never found myself going wider than 14-15mm. I already own the RF 15-35mm, so this is not a lens I would personally buy. They understood my situation and even offered to rent me the more expensive 11-24 at a reduced rate—not necessary, because they came through with the new lens! Five stars.

Wow what a lens. I do a lot of photos in tight spaces and this lens is now a game changer. Brilliant picture quality and really fast as a lens. This lens does set the benchmark in this area of wide angle lenses and really glad to have it in the kit bag.

While all the embedded JPGs look really good, when processing the RAW images you soon realize that at 10MM the image circle does not cover the full frame. I can understand lens correction, but cutting out 80% of the raw image is really a bummer. It seems Canon now thinks this is okay, because I'm also seeing the same thing on the 24-105F2.8 L to a lesser degree. It really makes processing raw files a pain, but at least you can get 9x16 crops mostly complete. Oh, it is worse wide open.
Finally, we are getting some good lenses for the RF series. It is starting to catch up to the EF series. This is a really fun lense. Not great with people, as they are distorted, but scenery is awesome, as noone knows if it is distorted. have not had a chance to closely evaluate the sharpness. I don't expect it to be as sharp as a prime. One added plus, it is very light weight!
I was really looking forward to this lens, even more so than the 200-800. I enjoy it, but there is significant vignetting wide open at 10mm. These were with outside landscape shots, so I don’t know if this is an issue for indoor architectural or real estate images as well. Like another reviewer John said, you have to crop in, so not truly 10mm. I am actually considering parting with it and shooting with my reliable 15-35.

It's sharp in ways I haven't seen before and handles shots directly into the sun without flinching.I'm stunned at the unique perspectives and angles you can capture with this. Super wide for architecture photos, at least for my applications. but the weight savings are worth its weight in gold. The 10-20 is replacing the 11-24, which was a whopping 5 lbs at least. The 10-20 will be used on a gimbal and that alone is worth the price.
Excellent UWA. Years ago I tried a friends Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8, and ever since I've wanted a Canon equivalent. I was worried 10mm would be too wide to handle, but the optics are so amazing, I'm having very little trouble.Ok, a little bit of a learning curve, of angling the camera properly for the effect wanted, of including SO much in the frame, but using on an R5 makes framing and exposure pretty easy.Very sharp. The IS keeps things rock steady even for my shaky hands.And it is so light and compact that I can always include it in my bag.My next challenge with this will be cutting the ND gel to fit. I tried Canon's template from their support page, and it definitely fits. Now I just need to apply the template to the gel and carefully cut.

Set it up correctly and the smaller size, smaller glass, shorter barrel, all conspire to produce even better images than the EF 11-24. You’re a photographer, you’ve studied light, not to forget how lens treatments have advanced, so how can this new lens not edge out the older variant?I’ve done multiple backpacking trips where I carried one lens—or, in one instance in the Grand Canyon, a strange little fixed lens camera with a 21mm effective focal length—of either the RF 16mm or the old EF 20mm w/adapter, and almost never missed a greater focal length. My primary carry is the RF 14-35, but I can see where I will try the 10-20, mostly using the 20 end of the spectrum, but having the wider aspects deep inside the trees. I am so far satisfied with the lens, the long wait notwithstanding, and don’t see that changing in the future.
