A great little printer

I bought this as a Mother's Day gift for the proud parents of my grandson. It rapidly became the hit if the month.I have the Selphy 1300, and found the new software for the Selphy 1500 (a smartphone app) was simple yet powerful. The setup instructions for connecting by Wi-Fi with the phone's camera and a QR code were confusing, But it was easy to set up through the Settings option.Added features ( over the 1300) include several options for making layouts from multiple images. While some of the individual images of a 20-shot layout may be smaller than postage stamps, the prints are so clear that even these small mages are captivating. Another feature allowed us to use a black background as a border around each image. And it is a deep, rich, black.The USB connection on the 1500 is now a type C, while the 1300 has a USB A connection.Watching the prints as they go through the 4-step print process is hypnotic.The printer comes with just 5 sheets of paper, and exactly enough of the thermal ribbons to match. That doesn't last long.I suggest buying the 108 print package of paper and ribbons. It works out to about 35 cents a print, which is competitive with sending out for prints. But you don't have to wait for them to come back, or send batches to save on shipping. You can get one high quality print, or many, very quickly. It's better than an inkjet printer too, because you'll never have a low ink level, or a clogged ink jet nozzle mess up your day.

Canon ( portable wireless printer c1500

This pruduct itself is good. But the issue is it does not come with the recargable battery. It is not portable and wireless without the battery and Best buy not only did not have a battery when i went back to the store with it but they do not even sell the battery. I needed it to take outside pictures of people i was going to sell the pictures to. I need wireless portable printable pictures which it says it does. But of course that is only with the battary you can not buy!!!! I wouldve gave it a 5 now 0

Compatibility

I just bought this printer because my old Canon Selphy CP730 malfunctioned. With lots of paper and ink still unused and bought long ago, compatibility with a new similar printer became very important. I studied pictures myself and discussed with the customer service wether using the old inkcartridges were possible. We both concluded that most likely, I would have to buy a new set paper and ink and so I did.Checking the SP1500 today it looks like the old inkkartridges bought for my CP730 can still be used with the CP1500 and likewise the NiCa-battery NB-CP2L, so some money saved there!Upon installing the printer to my computer, I do get a "driver error"-message. Easy, fast prints

For many years, my wife has complained that it is too difficult to print photos from her phone. So I bought this printer.My primary interest is printing photos directly from smartphones. The kids and the wife have their phones configured to be able to print directly through the printer.. everyone was really excited and happy about this ability.The prints are reasonably fast and the quality is good..I have not attempted to connect this to a computer even though I have Windows and Linux boxes, I might eventually do that, but for now, I just wanted to be able to have a decent photograph that I liked on my phone and then be able to say print it in a way that's very easy to do.

Great printer! Highly recommend!

Excellent 4" x 6" printer! The prints from this are amazing with very good color, contrast and saturation. The app is easy to use. I'm looking forward to trying the stickers and hope to get the battery soon to make it fully portable. I already own the CP1200, which I also like, but this produces better prints in my opinion. And this uses the same trays, paper and cartridges that the CP1200 uses so I don't have to buy them. The printer is larger than the other portables like the Ivy, Instax and Sprocket but those only print 2" x 3" photos.

Great way to connect with pics

I decided to give this printer a shot after seeing it recommended as a way to connect with digital photography in a similar way to the old film days. It's really nice to be able to put a photo I took with my DSLR into the real world in the comfort of my own home as a proof print, and makes me want to do more with printing.The printer also let me make a whole bunch of physical keepsakes for my grandmother following her recent birthday family trip, and the look of delight on her face was worth it all by itself.The quality of the prints is fine - I don't know how it stacks up against previous Selphy CP printers, but it's better than my last home photo inkjet - and I feel like the print speed is totally acceptable for what this thing is doing and how it works. Improved, SELPHY, but needs better driver software!

SELPHY printers are capable of producing very high quality 148mm X100mm (5.83 inch X 3.93 inch) dye-transfer prints. This CP1500 is slightly (about 10%) faster than my previous CP-1200 and CP-1300 versions as well as having a smaller footprint. It also FINALLY cures a long standing Canon SELPHY issue by not wasting a set of dye films every time the printer is powered up. If you just print a few prints at a time this can dramatically reduce the amount of dye-film being wasted.I drive the CP-1500 via a USB connection from an iMac. The basic Canon Mac print driver is very limited to only printing basic borderless or fixed-border prints or a proof sheet of small thumbnails. Not everyone prints form a smartphone.

Packaging could give more information

The printer itself makes beautiful color photos. My issue is with the packaging. Nowhere on the box or in the specifications does it say how many photos you can expect from the included ink cartridge or how many prints you can make from the paper included. I bought this unit for a party to print photos for my guests. I printed exactly 4 photos before it stopped with an out of ink message. A quick run to Best Buy for replacement cartridges proved fruitless, as they had NONE to purchase. Needless to say, I was very disappointed that I could provide my guests with the experience I wanted to give them. I wish that the salesperson could have warned me that I would need to buy extra cartridges and paper.

Ordered this for family pics as well as passport pics. Delivered next day. This is tiny. A lot smaller than expected. Took a couple minutes to set up and connect to phone and camera. Prints very quick. Quality is incredible. Nice size screen makes editing pics from SD card super simple. Has option to crop and add border design/animations, as well as an ID feature to help with requirements for passports, ID cards, etc.. Would recommend getting the battery to make it truly portable. The ink cartridge stays inside the printer, and the tray is smaller than the printer, so you can stack the tray and printer when not in use and it can fit in a mini backpack or a handbag.
