Canon XF605 4K HDR Pro Camcorder

I am primarily a videographer half dozen sony nx5u cameras with all kinds of lanc controllers. I have been waiting for them to get their act together between the z190 and z280 and they keep stepping around the sweet spot of dual recording networking camera that this has. I had to get it to consider replacing my whole sony fleet.I told it to record 4k 30p 422 10 bit on the card 1 and 1920 x30p x 420 8 bit on card two. It worked like a charm for a 3 hour concert.However, twice I pressed the record button and then pressed it again because it was a mistake. The menu button is close to the record button.Both times the camera locked up. I mean frozen screen not a single button would work. The off switch didn't even work. I had to remove the AC power and the battery to get it to reboot. I continued the show.When one of the sd cards are full, the manual says it will stop recording. Well in this case the sd card recording 4k got full first and the camera locked up. Same as above. I had to remove all power to get it to shut off to power reboot it.Next day I contacted canon customer support and he said try it now. Sure enought by repeated pressing on the record key, it locked up. Then he said try another brand of sd card. I changed sd cards and could not get it to lock up.The SD card that locks it up was sandisk u10 s3 v30. The card that worked was the samsung u10s3 v30. I asked if he had a list of acceptable cards, and he did not.The Second problem was that I bought this to be able to stream directly from it since now I used an external encoder.It turns out it only streams in RTSP with a password.My livestream provider, vimeo only accepts rtmps. so it would work.I tried a workaround, I used my Livestream Studio software as a switching software. It accepts camera inputs of RTSP but not if they have a password.Next workaround, I tried to bring it in with my switcher using NDI protocol, no NDI.So right now its internal streaming encoding device is not useful to me at all.John Lenihan

I was a Sony user for many years. I'm glad I switched. Great image quality. I have only shot one event with it so far (indoors-well lit). I used a 2 channel Picomic system with the 3.5 mm mic input, a shotgun on XLR1 and an Audio Technica Lav system on XLR2. It seems as if you can only monitor 2 audio channels with headphones (although I could be wrong). You can, however, see the all 4 audio levels on the display at the touch of a button. I love the smooth and responsive zoom. My old Varizoom VZ-Rock zoom controller works flawlessly. Whether using the LANC interface, the zoom rockers or the lens ring, I get great results. I have one nagging question-why is the word PUSH on the XLR release tabs written upside down? Also, why no printed manual? You get a simple ... MoreI was a Sony user for many years. Stand out features are endless. The zoom rocker mechanism is exquisitely smooth. The function and status controls make operating the camera so easy regardless of how customizable it is. CLog3 to rec709 conversion never fails to exceed my expectations. Snap on the old trusty 58 mm 500D although unsupported, autofocus works perfectly through the entire zoom range. Snap on a Raynox HP 9000EX and you've got 688 mm of jaw dropping zoom. The camera is surprisingly light and has a very long lasting battery. Freedom to stop the aperture beyond F11.
