Stunned and disappointed at how much these coveralls shrunk after 1 wash and dry. I'm not sure if it's the stretchy suspender straps or the pant fabric itself but these have shrunk beyond wearability after first time wearing. They say on the sticker to buy your pant size which I did and when I tried them on they fit nicely with the straps adjusted with about 5inches of play left in the straps. After 1 wash they are so small that even with the suspenders let all the way out the legs barely reach my ankles. I thought I was buying higher quality by purchasing carhartts over the usual Dakotas instead I paid a premium for single use.

I have owned Carhartt for the last 20 years, It's actually the only thing I wear. Or at least I used to. What ever idiot decided to changeYour best R02 design should be fired! You ruined a perfect design. Every machinist I know used to wear these and now I have to find anotherbrand that keeps the original pocket design which was perfectly functional. I don't want a zipper pocket on my chest to scratch everything I have to lean over. I am so disappointed, I will never buy anything from Carhartt again unless you fix this. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. You want to add another line or design great. But don't destroy the best product you make! BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL R02 DESIGN!!!

You were making a fantastic product that I've worn for decades. Why would you change a great product. The extra layer on the chest with the zippered pocket. Also the hand pockets are so shallow that a lighter standing up is visible and wants to fall out. If you have to lay down or get on your back to work on something, all your change and keys fall out. There is an old saying. "IF IT ISN'T BROKE, THEN DONT FIX IT.Please start running the original style bibs again!

I bought a pair figuring I'll use for lighter weather (assuming around 35 -50 Deg F) and didn't figure on "layering up" with them so I bought a standard size, and not 1 size larger like I normally do if intending to wear a few layers. They are surprisingly much warmer than I expected.I wear thenm in freezing weather, as long as I'm moving around a bit and not sitting still. The canvass is very good and warm, it breaks heavy wind very well also..You really don't need an underlined for most occasions IMOI usually wear em when snow blowing my driveway in winter and running chainsaws cutting trees and firewood logs. They're plenty warm, rugged, and durable.I've worn them in 50 deg weather, and theyre a bit too warm for me.I just throw em on with underwear under ... MoreI bought a pair figuring I'll use for lighter weather (assuming around 35 -50 Deg F) and didn't figure on "layering up" with them so I bought a standard size, and not 1 size larger like I normally do if intending to wear a few layers. They're plenty warm, rugged, and durable.I've worn them in 50 deg weather, and theyre a bit too warm for me.I just throw em on with underwear under or just a pair of light gym shorts under them for a little more "crown jewel padding". :)I'm 6'1" and weight 200 lbs. with a 38 waste and 32 inseam.I figured I would "layer up" if extremely cold.I've NEVER had to wear additional layers yet.I am glad about that because they're very true to size and likely would be a little snug if I wore anything but a single pair of Long John's under them. They're rock solid for weather down to 10 degrees F when moving around IMO.I can't tell you how they are if just sitting, like if hunting in a ground blind or up in a tree stand, as I've never used them that way.I would think they'd prob be cold as there because there is no insulation and you're skin is on straight canvass. There's no soft inner liner. The canvass is a bit stiff until gets broke in. .Quality rating from me is 5 STARSThey're EXTREMELY durable and well made, like all Carhartt gear.Perfect for working on farms, fields or around the house in cold weather or warmer too.I would highly recommend them. They're rugged and tough and keep you warm and safe in colder weathers.Keep in. Ind that they're true to size, so if intending on "layering up" you might want to go up 1 size
Front pockets are worthless. When I put my hands in my front pockets with fingers extended my little finger bottoms out in the pocket right where it joins my hand(about 2 1/2")and I have small hands and short fingers. I have other Carhartt overalls and the pockets are much deeper like the front pockets on a normal pair of jeans which are about twice as deep as these. My guess is these overalls are factory seconds and the reason for the sale price of 50% off. I only paid forty three bucks and change for them so return shipping would cost 25% of the purchase price. They appear to be genuine Carhartt overalls and other than the front pockets are normal Carhartt quality. Had I known about the front pocket issue I would not have purchased even at the sale price. These pockets will result in the loss of a valuable pocket knife, etc. if used the same way one typically uses his from pockets. Shame on Carhartt for letting these overalls slip through quality control without being labeled as seconds. I hope someone at Midway reads this review and at least makes the buyer aware of the issue.
Ordered these on Feb 8th, arrived on the 10th, which was nice. After wearing these all day, they were very comfortable, and kept me warm with my jeans underneath them. While the zipper can serve more than one function, it works extremely well for getting them off and on over boots. Onto the downsides; The shoulder straps are way too long. I wear a 30 inseam normally, and got a 30 on these since it was as small as it went but the shoulder straps are too large so I taped them so they were shorter. After taping them, these fit very nice, and I definitely like them. The zippered pocket on the chest can be used for a phone, wallet, or other sensitive items. Wearing these with my Carhartt Original fit midweight hoodie they kept me very warm, and I started to sweat in 20? snowing weather while shoveling and breaking up ice. I would definitely recommend these for year-round use, just order a size or 2 bigger for the waist, and a size shorter for the length.
Carhartt makes really great work clothing! The clothing is really, really robust, warm (if insulated), and reinforced in the right places. Plenty of pockets! It's obvious that Carhartt designs and makes good clothing with the tradesman who need allot of flexibility of movement. Best part is that it lasts! It's not cheap, however, over the long haul, it's simply the best for the money. This clothing can be worn every day, and offers allot of comfort over the duration of continuous use. The zippers and fasteners are really good! (I bought mine 2" larger at the waist so I have room to tuck in a heavy insulated denim shirt, so I didn't feel like a stuffed pepper. I like the access to the pockets without having to remove a jacket).
I suspect these Carhartt overalls are factory seconds. The front pockets are so shallow they are unusable. When my hands are inserted into the pockets they bottom out with my pointing finger barely covered and I have small hands. Nothing can be safely carried in these pockets without the very real possibility of losing the item. I have other Carhartt overalls including an insulated version and the pockets are much deeper and completely useable. Could be I was unlucky and received a one off defective pair of overalls but I doubt it. Other than the issue with the pockets they appear to be genuine Carhartt overalls with the same rugged construction you expect from Carhartt. These are pretty similar to my previous Carhartt overalls, except for the design of the pockets. I can tolerate the different chest pockets, and ignore the dumb chest pocket zipper. But the front side pockets are utterly useless because they're so shallow. The side cutout is more vertical, and deeper. Overalls are for crawling under trucks and similar uses, but your keys, and everything else, WILL fall out. The pockets completely ruin the usefulness of the entire overalls.
I bought these loose fit overalls with a pair of relaxed fit pants at the size of 38x34. The relaxed fit pants fit perfect, but the overalls were still 2 sizes too long. I have owned Carhartt overalls since 1994 and have always bought the same size. These, maybe because they are loose fit they run way oversized. Not sure but be aware. They fill a little thin compared to the pair I'm replacing. I will be sending them back for a different size. Thanks for an easy replacement policy
