Really happy with the jacket! Took awhile to get here but worth the wait as I live in Canada Vancouver island. I'm 210 pounds 5'11 in height and the tall large loose fit was a good choice for me. I'm usually a XL in most clothing but glad I went down a size. I read some of the reviews and a lot of people were saying to size down. Glad I did cause it's made a little bigger. Can definitely fit a hoodie underneath.Very good quality and durability by the looks of it. I've always wanted this jacket for years and finally got one. Couldn't be any happier with it. I will be ordering another one in black for sure in the near future.Big shout out to the Carhartt team for responding to my emails quickly with all the questions I had for them. I've owned three of these jackets over the past decade, all were size large. So, I was due to get another one after 3+ years of wearing it all winter long. I went to our Farm store who carried a full line of Carhartt clothing and jackets, they didn't have any size large in this style of jacket. I ordered one online through their web site, it showed up in a couple of days. I put the jacket on, and it was huge compared to my other jackets. I saw on the label that it was "Loose Fit", so I went to the local farm store that I ordered it though and sure enough every single jacket in the store was "Loose Fit". I tried on a medium loose fit and it felt about like my older large. I think Carhartt has shifted their sizes, I'm not 100% sure why but I can take a guess. Either ... I spent a lot of time going to the store to return then reorder a medium, I think the medium "loose fit" will be the same size as the old large.. we will see!

I purchased a Small in a feed store. The sleeves are way too long at 35-36 inches for a small. All my other Carharts had sleeves of 32 or 33 inches for either small or medium; but this one the sleeves hang at my thumbs. They would be in the way of my work which includes brazing in confined areas and mechanical repairs which can include engines, linkages, and motor drives; and would surely impede the wearing of work gloves. I really liked the jacket as it had all the quality and features I needed, especially for outdoor repairs. It also had a great fit in the chest and length with room for layering. But somewhere the sleeve length selected was not the usual length found commensurate with the jacket size. The jacket was returned

Love the color (green), love the feel. I hope it is water resistant and I will test for warmth when we get our next snow. This is much lighter than my other Carhartt that I've had for years. Right now I'm a happy camper. I'm female and I always purchase men's because I like the extra room - not fitted. The sleeves are long enough for me to tuck in my hands like a turtle head and it fits below my hips if I need it to. Just my preference as Carhartt in men's makes the perfect hiking/chore coat for me. I can't attest for quality and durability with this coat, but with my other Carhartt it's a 5 star rating. The only reason I got a new one is because I've lost weight, the sale was good, and I decided to size down. Oh, and the nylon quilted inside was a big plus over the ... This jacket has the great fit and usual great quality they are known for. As an electrician I have worn Carhartt jackets and insulated coveralls for the last 40 years. They have been the best. It's hard to keep focused on your work and therefore keep out of harm's way if you're too uncomfortable, and I greatly appreciate their products. I recently retired and bought this non FR jacket for work at home. I have one major complaint I've never had in the past and that is with the lining. I recently wore it while drilling some holes in wood and the chips got on the lining which turns out to be such that they tenaciously stick to it. I have tried lint rollers, a stiff brush, a vacuum with a stiff brush, and nothing wants to remove them. I would not buy again for this kind ... I have tried lint rollers, a stiff brush, a vacuum with a stiff brush, and nothing wants to remove them. I would not buy again for this kind of work.My other disappointment more recently is it seems Carhartt has quit making this type of jacket without a hood. It is way more practical for tradesmen to layer with a good hooded sweatshirt and the detachable snap on hood was ideal. This gave more flexibility when hard hats are required and you don't have a hood you can't remove filling up with water when it's pouring down rain. I hope enough tradesman might agree and give feedback so they would would again offer jackets with non-clingy linings as well as snap on removable hoods. Thanks.
This is/was to replace an older Carhartt jacket which I just love but which was finally wearing out.I am somewhat disappointed with the new purchase because although it is rated as "Warmest Rating" is doesn't seem to be as warm as my older Carhartt that this new coat is to replace. And where I live it gets cold, so I was expecting a warmer coat. Suggest you not say this coat is warmest, but just warm, and that you sell a warmer coat. Also I didn't want the hood, but seems like you don't make a hoodless jacket like this anymore, so I'll put up with the hood for now. I think the hood will probably just collect dirt when I have to crawl under a cold house to work on plumbing or whatever. And for what it's worth, I'm still keeping my old tattered Carhartt coat for ... It's about 17 years old I think now but still a good coat, just looks bad when I go to town.
Does the job and keeps you warm. Snug bottom when zipped to keep the warmth in. Good shoulder and chest room for a dude. The arms look big in case you're interested in slim fits. The reason it isn't a 5 star...This one compared to other styles was ridiculously large in my opinion. If you like wearing big jackets or vests under this thing then size down.If you want to wear just this over a shirt like me, then size two down. I normally wear an XL, to be frank I fluctuate a bit and almost push a XXL. I had to order a M for this style. Don't trust that size guide they have. Most of their styles you either size down or plan on having a hoody underneath it.Also, I ordered the dark navy color, and it is DARK navy. I guess I can't complain too much about that given the ... I guess I can't complain too much about that given the name, but the blue in the photo was REALLY cool looking. So I'm definitely bummed about that. Also just a minor side note. I'm a guy that throws everything in the washer together because I can and I've never had issues. This jacket attracted lint better than any dryer sheets I've used. So might have to wash or dry separately. I tried to hang dry and a full day later it's still damp.Take that with a grain of salt before dancing in the rain, and stay safe friends!
I was very disappointed with this jacket. Keep in mind when the description says "loose fit", it really means elephant fit. It is loose in all the wrong places. It is not warm enough in cold weather to be considered a 3 warmth rating. I would say that is probably a 2. My cheap Walmart coat is warmer than this. The positives of this coat are that the fabric on the outside seems rather durable and it has a nice sheen, and the inside quilting is soft. These two positives do not outweigh the negatives for me. I really wish I hadn't gotten this jacket for my birthday, all the other styles are sold out. Now I'm stuck without a jacket and credit on Carhartt I'll never use. This jacket is the quintessence of overrated.
Love this hooded jacket. Quilted lining is easy on easy off. I wear a Carhartt hoodie underneath this when it really gets cold and where I live in the south, cold in the a.m. and too warm in the afternoon for both so I take this off and just wear the hoodie with a long sleeve tee under that. Wish they would go back to the tight woven "duck" smooth canvas material that all their gear used to be made out of. This is more like heavy twill with a more open weave. This jacket has much more room in it than the same size Detroit jacket that I had to send back. I dont have the figure for the athletic cut of that garment anymore. Now that this comes in various colors, may have to order the green one as well.
IT'S a 5- STARS. Overall a great jacket. Runs large(I wear XL in all coats/jackets except Carhartt, I wear a Large)Pros: made in USA, it's iconic look and durability- when it gets scratched and worn in, it looks even better. it is warm and comfortable. the elastic at the wrists is snug but not tight, no drafts here. to clean it- washing machine & dryer, like a pair of jeans easy. "helmets to hard hats" excellent! and a note with the first name of the person who made the jacket is a very nice touch.Cons: I'm nitpicking that's why I gave it a -(minus) the front pockets are NOT lined, your hands will be cold. there is no fabric behind the zipper= cold drafts. Please lower the inside pockets an inch or two because they can definitely grab a nipple now & then. the hood ... MoreIT'S a 5- STARS. Overall a great jacket.
