Typically I wear a large in shirts and prefer a 35" sleeve length as I like longer sleeves. In Carhartt I wear a medium in all their tops, shirts, sweatshirts and jackets.I bought both the light blue and dark blue colors in this particular shirt. They are more or less a chambray work shirt and don't look as substantial and crisp as in the photos on Carhartt's site. I was expecting something with a slightly heavier fabric. These shirts are fairly light-weight and well suited for warmer weather. The dark blue was almost two inches shorter in the length of the body and sleeves than the light blue. I felt the light blue had a good length overall with the sleeves being just right. One thing I didn't care for in the cut was the curve of the cut at the bottom of the shirt; it is brought up on the sides creating a "U" shape design when viewed from the front or back. A straight cut would have been more my preference. The cut is a relaxed fit and tents out a bit from the body. A slightly fitted cut would have been nicer, but I realize I'm not the norm when it comes to body shape these days so I tend to pay twice to have my shirts fitted after purchase. The fit is comfortable through the shoulders and chest and isn't restrictive through movement. I washed these shirts on cold and lined dried to avoid any shrinkage. Prepare to spend some time with an iron and scissors. The amount of wayward strings on these shirts was reminiscence of basic training in the military and having to police my uniforms. I spent a good thirty minutes on each shirt just removing loose strings before ironing; once ironed, the shirts looked more presentable. These shirts also have the buttoned collar stays (not a fan). If you don't button down the collar the extra fabric used on the back side of the shirt to secure the buttons will peak through if you leave the top one or two buttons undone on the front of the shirt. Most likely I will be removing the buttons to remedy this .So there you have it, hopefully this review provides enough information for those that are seeking it. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be buying any more shirts from Carhartt.

"Loose fit" is excessively loose

I have purchased several "relaxed fit" Carhartt shirts (size large) the past few years as well as other Carhartt items and the fit has been good. These shirts are "loose fit" and they are WAY looser to the point there is far too much fabric in the sleeves and back. The quality may still be there but even after washing in hot water and drying in hot dryer the fit is so far off I will not wear the shirt.

Fit well, well designed but Fabric does not last

I purchased two of these shirts.Pros - Fit well, comfortable, long tails, button hole at front bottom that is turned sideways to help prevent unbuttoned.Cons - fabric on one shirt faded in streaks within 2 washes, fabric wears out very quickly for Carhartt gear (I expected it to last at least a year but within a few months of wear both shirts experienced tearing of the fabric that when repaired only tore again right next to the repair).

Great price, great product and matched my needs.
2 August 2022

The shirt is a great summer suit for me. It is lightweight and has the two flap covered pockets that I need for my stuff. The shirt color matched the picture color and looks great on me when I go out. I wanted long sleeve to keep the sun off my arms so I don't get sunburn because I have had a lot of skin cancer. Its lightweight and cool enough to wear even on the hottest days. Thank you for such a great product. Yes, I would recommend this shirt to others.

I’m really happy with this garment!
30 October 2022

This is one of the best chambray (if not THE best) work shirts I’ve found. And I’ve been hooked on chambray shirts for around 60 years. I’m impressed with the apparent ruggedness of the fabric and the medium weight makes it possible to wear year ‘round. The loose fit and cut of the sleeves make it to roll up past the elbow. The loose fit also makes this shirt easy to work in but not so loose that it presents a danger while using power tools. Would I wear this shirt with a tie and slacks were I 50 years younger? Probably, but I was a hippie. I recommend the shirt as daily all-round, comfortable for chores and errands. But does spiff up with a little starch and an iron. After all, the shirt has a button down collar. Which I could live without.

Loose fit cotton: great in hot weather!
30 July 2023

It's a great shirt. Grateful that someone still makes 100% cotton. But if I knew it was THAT loose fitting, I might have got L instead of XL. But then the sleeves would be too short (I wear 38")I wish someone would copy the Filson safari weight shirt similar to that. It's no longer available and mine lasted 20 years ??

NOT the traditional Chamois Shirt!
3 February 2022

These are NOT “Chammy Shirts”. I used those words specifically when I Googled, found and ordered the XXL brown and dark blue believing they were. I was pretty ticked off when I opened the bag and found they are actually more like a pin striped dress shirt than they are a “Chamois Shirt”. They only get three stars because although they are NOT what I thought I was ordering but they are pretty nice shirts for the price and fit my 52” chest perfectly. If I was ordering pinstripe shirts to work in then they’d get five stars. So I’ll keep these shirts even though I was completely deceived by the ad.

This is a good shirt, available in large tall that is actually long vs. fat.
29 November 2022

Have owned for about a year now, wear off and on about 5 times. (In Houston we dont have a very long winter where long sleeve shirts make sense. ) This is a good shirt, available in large tall that is actually long vs. fat. I am not a "working man", rather an office worker, wear this shirt on weekends and such. Great, decent looking shirt for winter wear around the area, I definitely look a bit better dressed than average folks I see, but not overdressed.

Versatile and carefree
2 April 2023

This is a great looking & feeling shirt. It has a more finished look that can pair with slacks for a night out, or with shorts for a casual day at the beach or on the trails. It comes out of the wash looking as good as new without ironing or any fuss. It's light weight for hot weather, or for layering in cooler weather. I bought one for my husband to try, and then immediately ordered all the other colors. He loves it!

Very nice denim shirt
5 November 2022

This shirt looks very nice on my husband. The material is soft and lightweight yet not thin and cheap. The color is great and gives a modern flare to denim. He wears it both to work and out for a casual dinner. I bought him this one and a Wrangler denim shirt. He kept this one and took the other one back.
