I kind of look at every watch where the elevation is determined by pressure as more of a novelty; a toy to play with in the field. The only way you will ever get accurate elevation readings is with a gps. In fact, I checked this against my gps and found that after hiking up 2400 ft in elevation, the watch was off by 150 ft. If you're looking for a professional piece of equipment; something to survive off of, this is not the item. You will even find this disclaimer in the instruction manual. The watch has a ton of functions that are useable, including sunrise times. A lot of features that I will probably never use, but some might; what time it is in other time zones etc. As mentioned before, the altimeter will constantly be off and will need to be adjusted. The barometer works well. The temperature is not accurate unless you leave it off your wrist for a half hour or so (also noted in the manual). The compass (including the declination setting) is very accurate. The accumulated ascent and descent function on the trek logs is a nice function. It pretty much all boils down to this; As far as I'm concerned, a watch that measures altitude based on pressure is never going to be accurate. If accuracy is what you're looking for, you'll need to get a gps watch. But for the sake of having a nice tool to take out in the field to play with, this has got all the bells and whistles. I do enjoy playing with it.

EXCELLENT WATCH FOR THE PRICE
20 June 2018

The watch has a very "well built" quality feel to it. The weight is not too much and the size would be considered too big for some. I am a collector of watches and have been so for about 30 years and this is my "go to." The green and black complement each other and the red accents really stand out.The main reason I opted for this watch is because it is a solar digital watch with atomic time keeping. Setting the various options is rather straight forward once you learn how to move through the various "screens." I am located behind the "pine curtain" of Deep East Texas and I have found that the trees do hinder the atomic reception; however, after calculating the bearing towards Boulder, CO, I can orient the watch with the antenna towards CO and it will set itself. ... MoreThe watch has a very "well built" quality feel to it. Twice in the last 3 weeks has it automatically set itself and both times I was outside when the watch initiated a synchronization.I have calibrated the compass, altimeter, and barometer. The barometer holds rather close to other barometers when compared. The altimeter "walks" higher over time. I calibrate it at the local airport where the altitude is known, not just by GPS mapping as found on phones or Google Earth, but by an actual altimeter. Over the course of a week I have found the watch's altimeter to increase in altitude measurement by approximately 200-300 feet. The compass has done well in maintaining its calibration. I used it to set the bearing for Boulder, CO from my home and use the recorded bearing to orient the watch for a manual sync. The backlight is sufficiently bright, but it is approximately 1-second in duration which is too fast if you are scrolling through the screens looking for a specific feature. The backlighting can be set to 1 or 3, which correlates with the number of seconds illumination remains activated when the light button is pressed.I love that the watch has several alarms that can be set, as I frequently use 4 to 5 alarms each day and the watch accommodates my need in that regard. The timer has the option to set hours as well as minutes and seconds, which starts with hours, then minutes, and lastly seconds when setting the timer. I would prefer minutes first; however, that is just a personal preference. The band feels great! I have a sensitivity to plastic, rubber, etc. bands and this band has yet to cause an issue.Overall, I have to say this is the BEST digital watch I own and I am absolutely loving it. I look forward to using it each day and am glad I was able to obtain one at a reasonable price. If you are debating on buying one, I highly recommend you go for it!! I sincerely believe you or to whomever it is gifted will love it as much as I.Great watch Casio!Dr. C. KingNOTE: I purchased this watch and these opinions are my own. I have not been compensated in any regard for this review!

End of the world watch.

Excellent watch. Super accurate with the atomic time feature. Very comfortable as well. It is a rather large watch but it wears fine on my 7” wrist. The ABC fictions are all very accurate which is a surprising because most ABC watches I’ve had aren’t. If I could only wear one watch the rest of my life, this would probably be it. This would make a great watch for a Cop, Soldier, Outdoorsman and anyone looking for a extremely reliable, rugged low maintenance watch.

Great watch! Works perfect. I really like all the features, and the sensor is much faster than my older Protrek watch. The reverse display is nice. A little dark inside but vibrant outside. Just set the watch light to auto on and it becomes zero issue inside

The best watch I've ever owned!
4 November 2021

It's a pleasure writing this review. This Casio Pro Trek PRW3500 solar atomic watch is the best watch I've ever owned. I've own many more expensive watches but they don't compare to the Pro Trek 3500. My previous watch is a Casio G-Shock Stainless Steel Solar Atomic Digital Watch MTGM900DA-8. It's a great watch and keeps perfect time; however, it's banged up and the stainless wrist band broke after TEN plus years of perfect service. So, I thought I'd search the web for a replacement. I went to the Walmart site and found the Pro Trek PRW3500. It is an impressive looking watch. Out of the box it was relatively easy to set up. The face is large and very readable. It has many terrific feature: Solar powered (needs no batteries), Atomic (always the correct time), automatically changes time zones, altimeter, altitude, barometer, compass, stopwatch, timer, alarm, back light and led illumination and much more. The watch comes with a resin/rubber like material. It's not the most comfortable material but looks impressive. However, I found my wrist measurement is in between holes, making it either too tight or loose. So, I went on Amazon and found a NATO watch strap that cost about $15. Now it's perfect. It looks great and feels terrific. I thought if it's good enough for James Bond, I'd give it a try and I'm very pleased. I'm sure Q could install the more lethal features that 007 would need. Another plus, the Pro Trek 3500 costs a lot less that the Omega that Bond wears, $170 vs $9200. For me the choice was easy. If you're looking for a do-it-all watch this Pro Trek would be a great choice.Oh, a final comment, I got one for my wife and she loves it. Considering that the watch is large, I installed a very attractive nato strap and it fits her perfectly even though she has very small wrists.Buy it. You won't be sorry.4.7 out of 5 stars 785

The item was good value for the requested price.

It was purchased for the "hip hop" look, it seems at this time to be good value for the requested purchase price. These styles usually change very quickly but the uniqueness of the watch should be lasting and look smart for some years to come.

I bought a previous model (PAG 240) when traveling in France in 2012, still have that watch now. The sensors are much more accurate, and the screen is very clean and easy to read. One thing I will mention- with the previous model- you select a city (for timezone) mine was NYC as its the only Eastern Time Zone. The watch would display the sunrise & sunset for New York. This model- after entering GPS coordinates, gives an accurate time for my location (same times displayed on my iPhone.)Other nice improvements are auto light function that can be turned on- so in low light conditions, if you rotate your wrist toward you- the watch face illuminates. These casio watches are rugged & just about bombproof.
