A calculator that only deals in fractions?

There are two shift keys to maximize the functionality of each physical key. Nice, but it can be laborous to figure out what the proper sequence is necessary in order to perform the desired operation. Turning the unit on requires depressing one key, turning it off requires depressing two keys. Personally, on a photocell operated unit, maybe it should turn on when light hits the photo cell and off after an idle period of time without light to power the unit.

Best Calculator for the SAT!!!

Best Calculator for the SAT!!! Because of the solving equations functions under MODE, this is the best calculator for the SAT exam. I also recommend the CASIO fx- 991ES PLUS. This calculator can solve systems of equations, and all three types of answers for quadratic equations. The COMPLEX numbers function is also extremely helpful. A TI-84 is a great calculator for graphing, BUT, you aren't graphing on the SAT exam. Get this calculator. I have coached over 200 students in the last 8 years and this and the 991 are the two machines I recommend. Love this for the SAT and ACT.

There are only 40 different conversions, in the categories of distance, area, fluid volume, speed, mass, pressure, power, force, temperature, and heat. Also, some categories are not included at all, and there are even a few units missing. For example, there is no mph conversion, so if you want to go from m/s to mph you would first need to convert m/s to km/h, and then convert from km to mile.If you are considering purchasing this for your high school/middle school student, I highly recommend it.Armed with this calculator and a TI-89 graphing calculator, you would be set for your entire educational career.

This will give you decimal answers for all combinations of decimal/decimal and decimal/fraction problems, but not fraction/fraction problems. Fraction/fraction problems will give a fraction answer. If you require a decimal answer, tap the S-D key. Now tap the AC key. You’re ready to modify the 2nd default setting.Second, go to “SETUP” again, and see Item 1: MthIO thru Item 8: Norm appear as before.Tap 8 and see –Norm 1 ~ 2?Norm1 is the default setting, but you need Norm 2, so tap 2. Norm 2 avoids defaulting to exponential format beyond 3 decimal places. You will have standard decimal format answers until beyond 9 decimal places, after which Norm 2 will also default to exponential format. Tap the AC key and you’re formatted for decimal answers, noting the 2 exceptions described above.Hope this solves the “Fraction Answers!!” problem and gets you to Decimal Answers. Have always liked the Casio calculators (especially the $). The fx-115ES PLUS is a lot of calculator for the price, but the “fraction answers” situation sure needs clarification in the User’s Guide

Does everything except graph
5 December 2019

The most advanced non-graphing calculator I have ever seen! I have been teaching for 25 years and have never come across a calculator with the power of the fx-115ES Plus. There is almost no math it cannot do. I have had students use it in classes from Pre-Algebra to BC Calculus. The natural display makes the math look like what we use in math textbooks and is simple to learn and use. From the simplest fractions to the most complicated summations, the 115 can do it all. The calculator layout is intuitive and similar to all other Casio calculators. My students have also used it in all their science classes and even

Lost without this calculator
19 April 2022

This is the calculator I've used for the last 15 years. It got me from Algebra through Calculus and now I use it daily in my business. I love that you can switch from fractions to decimals to scientific numbers at the touch of a button. You can enter problems with a variable (or two!) and have the calculator solve it for you. I would be lost without it so I bought a backup just in case my old faithful friend ever bites the dust.

I have had this calculator for years. it is great. I teach math and recommend this to my students. I have a couple and they fight over them. It is great for math through calculus and beyond. It will do everything from basic calculations to Matrices and simple differentials with limits. It was somewhat difficult to learn, but after a little bit with the manual and trial and error, you will do math like a pro with this calculator. I have a couple of TI's of the same "level" and this blows them away. I will probably buy a couple more this year as my oldest one is starting to get the buttons rubbed smooth and it is hard to tell what some of the keys are...but I (and my students) have used it for years.

May be better than I was able to quicklyfigure out

I bought this calculator because of price and reviews on amazon. I'm using it for a moderate level college algebra class. During some homework & a couple online quizzes, I kept getting a few problems wrong. I couldn't figure it out. I reviewed the homework, input the numbers carefully, made sure my answer matched the calculators but no luck. I still got in the high 80's/low 90's but I figured if I couldn't get high 90 or perfect score working at home, what was going to happen on test day in class? Then I borrowed my daughters Texas Instrument & tried it jic. Perfect scores from there on out. I even went back and tried what I missed on my old homework and online quizzes (w/ the TI) just to see what would happen. Perfect scores. Casio does make a very good product. But after 2 weeks of not getting it righ,t I gave up. I went to a local Walmart & bought a basic TI 30 series scientific calculator for under $10 and everything has been fine since. If I had more time, patience & calculator smarts this Casio may well be a 5 star calculator. But for me & whoever else out there that has only average math/calculator skills, its really only an average product.

The Calculator that Lasts from Grade 8 to College

I purchased a Casio fx-115ES PLUS calculator for my daughter when she was in eighth grade. Given her passion for mathematics and science, I wanted her to have a calculator with advanced features that she could use through her high school and maybe in college. It has all the advanced features of a graphing calculator except graphing. It can perform operations on complex numbers, vectors, and matrices, evaluate inequalities, solve systems of equations, convert units of measurement, and that is just for starters. She still uses the fx-115ES PLUS I bought for her in middle school. Her friends, amazed by the capabilities of the calculator after seeing how easy it is for her to use, have bought their own. Given the low cost of this calculating dynamo, it is one of the best investments I have made for her education.

I've owned quite a few different calculators over the years and have found that the Casio models in particular are very easy to use. The Classwiz FX-991EX is no exception. If you've used the FX-300 / FX-115 ES or ES+ models before, you should feel right at home. The most used functions are the most accessible with a single button press, followed by slightly lesser used functions using the SHIFT key. Each mode (matrix, vector, statistics, etc.) has its own contextual features which are found in a menu displayed with the options button (OPTN). Equations can be entered just like you would in a textbook, including integrals, derivatives, summations, proper and improper fractions, and more. While this is not a CAS (Computer Algebraic System) calculator, it is very capable of solving simultaneous equations, working with complex numbers, and handling matrix and vector math. Compared to the FX-115ES that I had before, the FX-991EX is several times faster, so they have upgraded the processor on this one, yet it is still able to run off solar power when needed. The calculator doesn't have RPN (Reverse Polish Notation), so if that is something that is important to you, condsider buying an HP instead. For everyone else, I highly recommend this calculator for it's ease of use and sheer functionality. Also of note to those considering this model: There is a German version known as the FX-991DEX that is available from Europe. It has added functions that I've heard were removed from the US version so that the calculator would be allowed for certain curriculum / exams. According to the Casio International website, the FX-991EX has 552 functions and the Casio Europe website shows the FX-991DEX version as having 696 functions. All in all an great calculator for very little money with the nicest display I've seen yet on a solar powered calculator.
