I really enjoyed Starfarers. I have played every official expansion, variant, and scenario in the Catan portfolio. This one is a fun, unique implementation. It does not, however, bring much of anything new to the table. Instead, it is a creative and fun repackaging and bundling of various Catan mechanics that you can find in other Catan games. It borrows most heavily from Explorers & Pirates. But I actually enjoyed the familiarity, as it was still a unique combination of mechanics, a creative visual and physical experience, and the more familiar you are with the Catan portfolio, the quicker it is to learn. Definitely worth having on the shelf if you are a Catan lover.
Starfarers of Catan is a great game. It has all of the aspects that make the Catan series a fan favorite, with a few add-ones to add flair. We loved the rocket ships, miniature models and especially the encounter scenarios. Now I am looking to add the 5-6 player expansion.

If like me you are not a fan of CATAN then don't worry... this is not like CATAN... This game is more like a 4x space game with just the badge of CATAN. Great components and a good solid game! I enjoyed a lot!

This is different enough from the base Catan, that it is no longer a euro game. There is more direct conflict between players.
