After identifying the magnification range I wanted - about 16X for finding a target to more than 36X for detail (my previous scope's max.), I selected the Celestron TrailSeeker 65 based on price and reviews. It fulfills my nature-viewing interests. The optics provide a clear view, even at 48X, and focusing is easy and precise - a great replacement for my 25-year-old18X-36X scope, which was horrible at 36X.

The present included a tripod and smart phone adaptor. I have not reviewed these separately as they matched the scope. My daughter was delighted with her present and took an immediate picture from her window of a pigeon. The quality was excellent She showed us on Skype how far he was away. Later she took a pic of the moon and her sister wondered how she had got such an excellent shot. The scope arrived in time for her birthday which I was surprised by. I chose this scope because it was recommended by Audubon Birds (America). When I went there loads of people seemed to be using them and getting great shots. I would definitely recommend this scope for a keen amateur birder who has not got a scope already.

Pretty nice scope. Sometimes I wish I had a bit more magnification, but the quality of this piece is excellent for the money.

After 30 years, it was time to replace our birding scope. I did a lot of research and found a scope that meets our needs. We needed a lightweight scope with very good eye relief. The Celestron Trailseeker 65 is perfect. Our 30 year old Celestron is still fine, but it is a straight through and I wanted to go to angled. My wife and I can share the angled more easily. With a carbon fibre tripod, I can carry this scope anywhere. This scope matches up with the very expensive scopes that birders have shared with us. It is nice to see that Celestron is still making a great product.
I purchased this scope to keep in my vehicle to use when looking for gulls and waterfowl on Lake Superior. It is slightly fuzzy at the highest power but I expected that in this price range. If you are looking for a scope for keeping in your car or truck this is well worth the money. I also recommend getting a window mount to go with it.DEan
I purchased this scope for checking targets at 50 to 100 yards. I suspect it would perform well at greater distances but have yet to test it beyond 100 meters. It performs very well for my intended purpose. The price was very good. The performance is also very good.
For this price I have no complaints. The magnification allows me to see wildlife at distances I never would have thought possible. I've been happily using it for birdwatching, and hope to take it to Yellowstone in the fall and use it for some wolves. Images are amazingly clear.
The scope is great for bird watching. I had hoped to be able to take it in my kayak, but it’s a bit to heavy and bulky. I love the clear viewing and zoom.
This scope has been great. It's the first scope I've had and covers all of the bases. I've not yet tried it for digiscoping but hope to shortly. It's got a rugged feel/construction so I don't worry about it. The rotating tripod collar is great. Why don't all scopes offer that?I like that you don't have to remove the cover to use it.
"Wow" is an understatement!!! This new Celestron Trailseeker 65 is unbelievably clear!!! I've used Kowa TSN601, TSN82SV, Brunton Etema 50mm and Celestron Regal M2 80mm for .22LR smallbore prone rifle matches but this one matches or is clearer in comparison to them. I was able to see the separation between the .22 holes and lines. In fact it was impressive enough for me to unload those other expensive spotting scopes and settle on this one. However having said that... there are 2 wishes for this scope. I wished that Celestron will redesign the carrying case so that the zipper wouldn't rub the fine focus knob when I roll the flaps over as I position the scope @45* from vertical. It's irritating that I have to refocus several times during the match. Also I wish they ... More"Wow" is an understatement!!! This new Celestron Trailseeker 65 is unbelievably clear!!!
