I literally JUST purchased this product to use for "SLUGGING" a week ago, because of the research I was doing looking it up on here! It's for dry, sensitive combo skin types! Occlusives (think Vaseline it's texture, Olive Oil, but also Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, Sunflower Oil, to just name a few) can be everyday products that some may even have around the house, but because they are extremely thick /or greasy, fortunately some brands have taken notice have included other natural ingredients for both better results for better spreadability, texture absorption! After my usual research reading, I finally chose the CeraVe Healing Ointment! I chose it for 3 main reasons; Firstly, I currently use many CeraVe products I really love their formulas ingredients, because they work for me-I got/get visible results with consistent use! Secondly, for this products added ingredients all of their many benefits, such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E a Ceramide Complex blend formulated with 5 DIFFERENT TYPES OF CERAMIDES-Which ARE the absolute BEST for keeping the skins Barrier Microbiome balanced healthy, ESPECIALLY during the colder months to keep the skin radiant, glowy plump! Thirdly, the price is awesome comes in about 4 different sizes-from small, purse sized ones to throw in our bags, pockets or wherever, to the travel size(which I have), to long tubes even a jar!!! But with this, a little definitely goes a long way! Yes, it IS thick like Vaseline, that's kinda the idea, BUT this one has great absorption melts like butter when warmed up between the fingers or palms! Plus, it really doesn't leave the face too overly greasy! With "Slugging" you would use this at NIGHT, like I do, before applying a leave on sleeping mask for the entire night! You basically WANT to SEAL in ALL those great products their ingredients you spend your hard earned money on, the best you can leave a layer on the face for protection from any pollutants /or dust dirt! I also wanted to mention that this product is actually non-comedogenic, so for MOST it will NOT clog the pores or cause any acne breakouts or irritation! I have combo, hormonal acne, that has a mind of it's own since starting this product, it has NOT broken me out or cause any purging or irritation! I also must admit that I was very hesitant to use anything with petroleum in it that has a Vaseline like texture to it! But, I did my due research found a couple of really wonderful "Slugging" formulations that actually work yet AGAIN, CeraVe has made another VERY well formulated product that's shown to work with a CLEANER formula then just regular Vaseline! AND, IT IS MADE FOR THE FACE AS WELL, NOT JUST THE BODY! Overall, I love it so far! If anyone's interested, I'm actually now done with my main research am writing a blog post about "Slugging", "Skin-Cycling" certain ingredients used in this process, such as Ceramides what they do! Amazing!

This has been a god-send, after a recent bout of flu, when both the inside and tip of my nose were sore, flakey and horrid-looking. None of my usual moisturizers made an ounce of difference, not even pure Argan oil. Dabbed a tiny bit of this on every night and was amazed at how quickly this healed the skin and allowed it to return back to normal, literally a couple of days. So concentrated I didn't need to use during the day. Like Vaseline but with multiple ceramides and a couple of other goodies that actually DO repair the skin barrier. Will keep a tube of this handy at all times. I use this when my skin is in need of extra TLC, or to seal in the benefits of a facial. If my skin is burned, exfoliated too much, skin feels sensitive, skin feels dry, or to pack an extra punch to my products; this is my go to. I wear it like a mask. I put it on thick and leave it on for hours. If I decide to sleep with it over night, I add a plain product free mask to keep it from transferring to my bedding. Great multipurpose item

This stuff is unreal. IT'S SO GOOD!! I tend to have dry cuticles that can hurt pretty badly, and this is the best thing I've ever tried for them. I helps ease the pain almost instantly, any my cuticles stay moisturized throughout the day and beyond. This stuff is a miracle worker when it comes to dry hands. I also have chronically dry lips, and I use this exclusively as my lip balm. I have the big tub, I have smaller tubes, I have it decanted in little tubs all around my house and in my purse so I can take it on the go too. It's with me everywhere!! It leaves my lips feeling so soft and moisturized. I almost never have issues with cracking or peeling now. Plus, you only need a little bit, so this stuff lasts forever. Helps my Eczema More than Prescriptions

I have been using CeraVe Healing Ointment for about a month. So far, it works better on my eczema (face, ears, hands, forearms, and right above my knees) better than any prescription I have tried. I noticed that the more sensitive skin areas received the fastest results. I put it on every evening before bed. It starts out feeling greasy at first, but rubbing it in for 30 to 60 seconds removes any such feelings, including in hairy areas, like under my beard. I have had no staining on my clothes or bed linens. I have also used it on my nose where it got chapped from blowing it so often this winter. It healed the areas overnight, but I have noticed the chapped feeling returns easily. So, I just include the area in my nightly routine.

Honest review- 3 months progress.

Im 14, and have super dry skin. I originally bought this while having a terrible breakout and needed something to keep my face moisturized. Nothing else was working, keeping everything controlled was hard, until i found this. It really helped soften up my skin, It does look greasy, which is why i prefer using this at night at the end of my skincare routine to really lock everything in, and when I wake up my skin is super soft. It's honestly like vaseline in a tube version. I will agree, Its so hard to get out of the tube. A little goes a long way though, So i find it doesnt matter too much because the little you get out is all you really need. I give it a 4 for this reason. Ps- At first it feels realllllly thick, so it is a little itchy.

Hydrating but if HA sensitive will cause redness if applied

I was recommended this by an Ulta employee who forgot I told her I was HA sensitve 2 seconds ago lol, but I ended up getting it and doing the method she recommended (slugging.) I finally saw that it said hylauronic acid and stupidly thought since it was almost at the bottom of the ingredient list it wouldn't be too bad. I did it twice and then realized it was horribly exacerbating my redness and unevening my skin tone. I use very small amounts on dry patches usually around my mouth and nose and for body abrasions. It makes the area slightly red but whenever I use it the dryness is pretty much gone by the next day, so it really does wonders for moisturizing. It gave me the worst splotchy redness and mild itch I've experienced from it yet visibly in the area of application within seconds, especially near my eye, maybe because of the thin skin there. If you're HA sensitive I wouldn't recommend it, even though it's VERY moisturizing it will just completely mess with your skin tone and probably your confidence. However it's a good product and I wish I could make full use of it.

When I've just watched something devastatingly sad and cried so much that I needed a towel and all the salty tears and harsh rubbing of my eye skin has caused super bad irritation, slather this on. Mosquito bites -- this did more for the itching and healing than OTC cortisone cream. One time I was in a new city and my skin HATED the air or something and my skin reacted super badly to anything (after two days, my skin was dry, itchy, inflamed, scaly skin), I put this allllll over my face for 24 hours and I was back to normal.
