I love my CeraVe Renewing Anti-Aging Face Cream with Sunscreen and Retinol! The packaging is very nice and luxe-looking for it being a CeraVe product and ai was very surprised to see it. I'm also glad that the applicator is in the form of a pump rather than a jar. It's very sturdy, sleek, and I feel like it won't break if I travel with it. As for the cream itself--it's fantastic! I am a fan of the consistency which is thicker than my previous Biore UV Sunscreen. I do use a very thick moisturizer though so I could be used to that. It was bendable and did not leave a greasy or oily feeling. One benefit of CeraVe products is that they contain ceramides and hyaluronic acid which helps combat the dryness that retinol causes. It does absorb quickly though and if I just was my face and apply this, the peelie effect is not there so it's definitely the products I use, my serums perhaps but I do need my daily routine and my old sunscreen doesn't have any issue with it so for now I'll stick to that one. I really wanted to love this one since I use CeraVe products already but this one is not for me. Though I would recommend to people who just wash their face like my boyfriend who refuses to use skin care products, at least it's easier for him to just wash his face and apply this, he actually doesn't mind it and actually loves it !
Alright, let me explain my title on why I say this formulation is interesting. Typically Retinol should be used at night since it tends to make the skin more sensitive to the sunlight. Therefore putting in an SPF seems like it contradicts each other and would promote it being okay to go out in the sun. I would still be hesitant to use this product and then be out in the sun all day as it may still be sensitive. OKAY now here is why it is amazing. What happens if you put this on thinking you were going to be indoors all day. Well sun can still come indoors through the windows and this is great for indirect sunlight AS WELL as what if something last minute comes up and I need to run somewhere quickly and run outside in the sun or something. This product has the SPF in it and would protect much better than if I have had just a retinoid product in with no protection. I think it's brilliant and actually bought 2 more already since there was a sale by me. Also I always make sure to use sparingly. A pea or dime size amount may sound too little, but it's plenty for me. I also go over with a little more sunscreen on top just for the extra protection. Plus i LOVE how sunscreen makes my skin glow :)
