Worst cleanser ever used & burned skin!

Received this in Glossybox 2022 advent calendar miniature size, I have loved all the other products included in the calendar and had heard of Cetaphil previously so was happy with this product choice prior to using it too. I normally use a cleansing balm nightly but was running low so remembered I got the Cetaphil gentle cleanser in the calendar so decided to give it a go for the first time. I started cleansing and noticed a little tingle but nothing major, then when I applied cloth to remove it was completely burning my skin and was becoming somewhat uncomfortable. The cleanser has completely stripped all natural oils from my skin and left me very rashy, red, extremely dry and very uncomfortable, both physically and mentally.I didn’t think the product would have caused such a reaction to my face but really wasn’t expecting this to happen as I have really tough to begin with, naturally oily and plump skin with no issues whatsoever with previously used products. Would never recommend and binned immediately, NOT for sensitive skin - and I don’t even have sensitive skin!!!

It IS possible for SLS to be formulated in a way that is both effective at cleansing while still being gentle. Cetaphil never made my skin react, not even on its worst days. I used to have fairly bad hormonal adult acne and rosacea. Anything harsh or drying would make it worse, whereas anything gentle and moisturizing helped. Cetaphil was absolutely perfect for this. I don't wear a lot of heavy makeup, so it did a perfectly fine job cleansing on a typical day. (I do switch to a foaming cleanser on "beach days" when I'm wearing my heaviest sunscreen though.)As I hit my 40s, my adult acne eased up.
