I have the same mat from the same company, just a few years older. The new mats have less clear borders/hexes/squares, probably so they do not last as long as they did. It is sad how economic calculations degrade quality. It is still a very good mat, just not as good as the old ones.

This product is exactly as described but it was shipped in a flimsey piece of cardboard that was taped flat such that the mat arrived with a lot of ridges and kinks in it. I'm currently trying to flatten it out but storing it under a large rug for a week or two. If you buy this be prepared to spend some time flattening it out. DO NOT use an Iron to smooth out any kinks.

Chessex battlemats are the best! Make sure to use dry erase markers on them, wipe off with water or a little rubbing alcohol.
The mat itself is great and as you would expect.But Mighty ape needs to listen to their customers and ship this product in a suitable tube, to stop it flattening out and creasing. It actually states in the manufactures instructions DO NOT FOLD, and that is exactly what has happened to the one I received because of the way it had been packed I believe it was flattened before packing, this causes creases that are really hard to get out.
Great mat with hexagons on one side and squares on the other. Good durable vinyl, works well with Expo wet erase markers. Love the huge size
Chessex makes a great product but you have to have realistic expectations. These will not last forever but if you take care of them them will be a solid item for years.
Well made and durable. Just make sure you use water based markers, and not dry erase!
Definitely worth the price. I use it for a background for dungeon tiles and for dungeon notes
Faux leather feel Crossthreaded underneath Huge beyond imagining - I play at a local gaming store and this map swamps that table Hex one side, squares the other Oddly pleasing feel to it unfolds / unrolls pretty good and lies flat without much fuss Only takes one type of pen, dry wipe I think. Yo get around my poor memory problems I just bought a plastic see through table cloth. I love it
