Finely crafted down to the last detail, like a custom-made flower."—François Demachy, Dior I love reading people's variations on the scent, but to me, J'Adore smells like shampoo. Not clean in the way it's used to describe scents, but actual CLEAN like after a fresh bath. It's classic, clean, floral but not dainty, very womanly. Dior chose a great actress to be the face of this perfume (Charlize Theron) - she embodies what this scent evokes: confident, sensual, put-together.

The opening of J'adore gives me a burst of pear, melon, bergamot and mandarin orange. I live in a hot, humid climate so tested it during the morning, noon, and evening hours for an all around impression. Upon each initial application, J'adore smelled beautiful on my skin. Classic, elegant, unoffensive come to mind, if a bit understated and "generic". This is not necessarily a bad thing, perhaps I could see myself wearing this in a professional setting, casual girls' night out or a more formal date night where my more "unique, daring, and attention-grabbing" perfumes may not be as suitable. White florals were apparent on me, as was a hint of sweetness, which muddled with other notes to create a sense of sophistication which I am assuming was the goal. I'd say the perfume has about a medium sillage, again perfect for more intimate or professional settings when a powerful scent would be a bit off-putting or "too much". I found the longevity to sit at around 6-8 hours, which I find satisfactory. Past the lovely initial application, sillage, and longevity is where the perfume starts to fail for me, unfortunately. About 45 minutes into the dry down, I notice the scent profile takes an odd turn on my skin chemistry once the top notes start to wane. I continued to sniff my wrists throughout the first evening wearing it, trying to place the overwhelming "sharp" note I picked up. Then it hit me, it smelled of a hint of soap and a heavy dose of aerosol hairspray. To ensure that I hadn't simply gone noseblind to the other notes, I had my boyfriend smell my wrists and he agreed that all he could smell was the same aerosol scent. This was the experience each time wearing it. While not the worst smelling thing in the world, that isn't really a scent I would want to intentionally wear and is especially not something I would pay so much for. Of course, this will not be everyone's experience due to skin chemistry. However, I highly recommend anyone interested in buying this fragrance try it out first and wear it throughout the day before making a purchase. The stark contrast between initial application and dry down paired with how that dry down smells on me means I cannot in good faith rate this perfume highly, despite its status as a classic and good first impressions.

I think the design of this bottle is clean and not high-profile, just like its fragrance. It’s perfect to take 🐶 for hiking on weekends and apply it!

But this perfume is definitely nice smelling as long as you spray a decent amount. Compared to most men EDP, this one is very light and doesn’t last as long. That’s the only gripe I have with this. We own more EDP which are stronger and last longer

This review is not against the original, authentic J'adore Eau De Parfum. That fragrance is amazing and my favorite. I have worn it on and off for at least 15-20 years. I normally buy it from my favorite department store, but my husband and I were in Ulta shopping for something else. We were on our 25th anniversary get away in Florence, South Carolina. He saw the J'adore and told me to get the largest bottle, because he knows it is my favorite fragrance to wear. It has been a couple of years since I have worn this particular frageance, so I was super excited to get back to our hotel so I could open the box and wear some. I knew something was off just looking at the bottle straight from the box. The liquid was a pale pink in color. Again, if you know the authentic J'adore Eau De Parfum, then you know how wonderful the smell is right away and it literally lasts all day!! I was so disappointed. I decided to keep that bottle and make the exchange when we got back to our hometown in Greenville, South Carolina. Maybe the store in Florence just received a bad shipment. Before I exchanged that bottle in Greenville, I stopped by the department store where I normally buy J'adore, to compare the bottle I had. My suspicions were further confirmed. The bottle from Ulta did not match the bottle from the department store. After that, I went to the Ulta in Greenville. The associate was very professional and helpful. She was also in agreement with me, after comparing the bottle I had with the tester bottle on her shelf, that the bottle of J'adore I had purchased in Florence was not authentic. She gladly allowed me to exchage the bottle I had for a bottle from her store. After the transaction, I asked if I could open the box from the Greenville store just to be sure. She allowed me to do so. To our surprise, it was the exact same as the bottle I purchased in Florence. I received a refund. I have been an Ulta customer for a long time. I now worry that other products on their shelf are not authentic. I would consider continuing to be their customer of all products, if they could provide me with an authentic bottle of this fragrance.
