I remember the first time I was attracted to Miss Dior - a small square perfume sample fell out of my Ulta magazine I received in the mail. I was originally drawn to it because I saw that the promotion featured Natalie Portman, who I admittedly have a straight crush on (I identify as a gay male but my goodness is she gorgeous). The smell reminds me of a refreshing bath in rose petals, topped with a beauty powder and sealed with a kiss. I limit myself to ONE spray, because that’s really all that you need. Trust me, one spray and you will still be able to smell it throughout the day. Just fabulous overall. What other perfumes should aspire to be.

In general, the fragrance is pretty and may appeal to floral-oriental scents lovers with noticeable sweetness and powderiness. It is very different from the previous version released in 2017, it is a completely different scent. Patchouli was removed in this 2021 version, and this is rather good news for me personally. Peaches-apricots for me are more likely not a jam here, but just a perfume fantasy. Something between a rose and a peony is also felt, but not annoying and balanced by powder. The base is sweet-oriental, however, in the opening, something a little too much musk comes out on me, but most likely it will not be so for everyone. The longevity is pretty decent. Whenever I wear this I’ve been told that I almost leave a gorgeous scented trail everywhere I go. I don’t know how to describe it, other than saying it really is just a beautiful, classy fragrance that I love wearing…it makes me feel so elegant. It is described as a warm floral (which is surprising because I’m not much of a floral gal) with key notes of Lily-of-the-Valley, Centifolia Rose, Soft Musk and Peony all wrapped up in a powdery Iris. It’s just brilliant how all the notes come together like a velvety dream you don’t want to wake from. Truly a gorgeous scent fit for everyday wear or special occasions but, I guarantee that whenever you wear this perfume it will make you feel more than special. I know I'm going to get the 5oz bottle ASAP because, Dior always impresses in their quality of fragrances. I highly recommend this scent to EVERYONE! With a moderate sillage (1-3 feet), moderate longevity (about 6 hours on skin) and moderate run of the mill floral notes, Miss Dior misses the mark on being a true stand out fragrance. This can very well work in its favor, for people who are looking for a staple fragrance that's not likely to turn anyone off. Though I'm not keen on gendering fragrances, the lean on Miss Dior is decidedly feminine. It smells like a heavy spring day in a garden bursting with flowers. The images it evokes are of bushes and branches bustling with flowers, picnic blankets and baskets of fruit and jam sandwiches. I personally would have loved some grass, or moss or even oud notes to balance it out. Though Sandalwood is mentioned in the composition, I don't get it at all on my skin. But was I to wear an organza dress for a stroll in the gardens with my parasol, Miss Dior would be the one I would reach for. I've given this 4 stars, because though it's not for me personally, I think it delivers what it intended. If a clean linear floral is what you want, I think it would work well for.

Miss Dior 2017 fans are up in arms that the 2021 version renders the 2017 out of production. Francis Demarchy, who created the 2021 version, has been replaced at Dior by Francis Kurkdjian, creator of the wildly successful Baccarat Rouge 540. I wonder if Demarchy lost his role due to the bad press associated with Miss Dior 2021. Despite this I went and blind bought it because it's new and now and it's Dior. I'm so glad I did! It's really pretty, delicate and ethereal. Floral and powdery without smelling like a Nanna. The naysayers were probably right about the lack of performance and I've knocked a star off due to it's lack of sillage.
