Clinique were one of the first companies to make a line geared at men. One of Clinique's strengths is that for the main part they have remained fragrance free which is quite an achievement in the industry. It is a popular line and not without good reason but seems very pedestrian in many ways with boring formulas and packaging with large type face in case a man doesn't know his face wash from his face scrub. Back in the nineties when I used it, it seemed exciting and they released a Turnaround Lotion which was very effective. Then, you also had a series of creams from the women's line which you could use - like Moisture On Call, Moisture On Line and Comfort On Call. All excellent creams. Now the men's line (originally called Skin Supplies For Men) is a pale version ... MoreClinique were one of the first companies to make a line geared at men. Then, you also had a series of creams from the women's line which you could use - like Moisture On Call, Moisture On Line and Comfort On Call. All excellent creams. Now the men's line (originally called Skin Supplies For Men) is a pale version of the women's line. It's pretty unisex and men tend to use products from the women's line anyway. Now it seems that the men's line is as boring as the packaging. The pros of the line is that they are simple and fragrance free. But you might find yourself look elsewhere for ones that do a little more for your skin. The three-step system in the men's line is similar to the women's, but the Exfoliating Tonics which are similar to the Clarifying Lotions in the women's line, contain more SD alcohol so I would tread carefully there. The Face Scrub is much grittier than I remember it from memory and unlike the original one (have Clinique tweaked it?) you don't have the option of leaving it on the skin for a minute or two like you used to. This scrub has the consistency of sand and is gritty and much less of a paste than it used to be. The packaging is wasteful as most of the product resides in half the tube. You can certainly feel it working and the skin is left very fresh after rinsing off. But I wouldn't recommend using this everyday as suggested. It's far too strong unless you have very oily skin in which case I would suggest you do not forgo the lotion afterwards. I used Clinique back in the early 90's when I was new to the whole serious skin care approach. Prior to this I had enjoyed vitamin E creams from the local health store (which you sadly cannot find anymore) So this was my first foray into department store brands and when I got past the price I liked the regime although it took me a while to get used to the M Lotion (as it was then called) because it was such a runny and seemingly ineffectual product. Sticking to the regime gave me good skin but I ran into trouble which I now see as simply being products that were too harsh for my skin. Namely the Scruffing Lotion )now the skin tonics). Now I would recommend bypassing all the Clarifying Lotions and Tonics and going for the Mild Clarifying Lotion which is a BHA exfoliant and contains Salicilic Acid and is much gentler primarily because it does not contain SD Alcohol (denatured alcohol). I wouldn't recommend using SD Alcohol on a daily basis. Oh no. Evidently a few of Clinique's products overstimulated my skin and I actually developed a cyst. The Face Scrub is in keeping with the aggressive approach that is still evident in some of Clinique's products. It's a good product but should be handled with care because after a couple of weeks of use (twice a week) it left my skin feeling a bit parched. Clinique is a good brand but choose carefully from their line. Keep their stronger items to a minimum. Pros - fragrance free, simple, effective results fast. Cons - boring formulations, can be harsh, expensive

I have used this for over 10 years and even though I have tried other scrubs, I always come back to this. This scrub is honestly (in my opinion) the best physical scrub I have used. I do sometimes use a AHA exfoliant but if you still prefer a physical scrub this will not disappoint. I use this once a week and I press very lightly on my face when rubbing. This scrub my face very smooth. It does have a cooling effect when your using it so it's great in summer. I noticed when I was in the UK, their formulas were abit different (the scrub beads were far less in the product) so not sure if this was a manufacting issue or a new formula. I am down to my last travel size product. Highly recommend this product but just remember like all scrubs be very gentle when pressing on ... MoreI have used this for over 10 years and even though I have tried other scrubs, I always come back to this. I got this as a small travel size in one of the Clinique for Men Moisture Surge gift sets. I gave it a try and I was impressed! It has a creamy texture without being oily. The exfoliating beads are a great size, fine enough to be gritty but not much that it causes excess irritation. The base the particles are suspended in is nice too, again comforting but not greasy. I tried the 7 day scrub and to me (skin type 2 to 3) with minor breakouts and tzone s hine, it was too emollient. This also helps with shaving prep, to get the hairs to stand up for a closer shave. I'm buying this soon! It also did n't cause any breakouts using it all over my face.

I received this as a sample when I bought his cologne gift, and never thought he would likeuse the sample. But hes crazy about it. For the holidays, we traveled a lot and he always kept his sample on him for every shower. It was quite precious. I bought him the full size today. Im not surprised by the quality of Clinique theyre a brand I trust. He likes that it has a cooling effect and leaves his skin feeling very clean and exfoliated. He has oilynormal Mediterranean skin. I dont think he was using anything really scrubspecific before using this, but Im slowly turning him into a skin care junky with weekly Origins face masks.
The mens face scrub has been my ABSOLUTE favorite Clinique product that I've used RELIGIOUSLY for many, many years. It's the only cleanser/scrub that keeps my skin clear from minor, hormonal acne breakouts AND leaves my skin feeing SO soft, fresh, and tingly. The scrub particles have always been VERY FINE and DENSELY PACKED. I prefer it to the "non-mens" scrub (though I've heard they're the same) and find it superior to the 7 Day Scrub. Even though it's a "mens" product, it's always been gentle enough for my skin. It contained some salicylic acid for acne but not as much as products specifically for acne. Plus just the right amount of menthol makes my skin feel fresh & tingly.**UNFORTUNATELY, after unpacking and using this scrub from my recent order... Plus just the right amount of menthol makes my skin feel fresh & tingly.**UNFORTUNATELY, after unpacking and using this scrub from my recent order... I was SO disappointed & upset to find that my fav product has been reformulated SO drastically that it's now UNUSABLE. Honestly, I don't know how it could be usable to any face-even men's- not just mine. Those very fine, densely packed scrub particles have been replaced by what feels like gravel. That fresh, tingly feeling is completely gone. And the icing on the cake: after ONE use of this new formulation... I had little tiny red dots all over my face (like petechiae) because it was SO ROUGH. Also unfortunate is how difficult it is to reach a human at Clinique to process a refund or exchange. Emails go unanswered indefinitely, and the "open" hours for customer service are not compatible with my schedule. Bottom line: do NOT use this new formula face scrub.
This face scrub really is designed for men. It begins as a very dense suspension and goes a long way when massaged into the various areas of a wet face. These grains, which resemble fine sand) don't dissolve ! They remain solid for as long as the user continues exfoliating. The emollience is determined by how much water you use. Then it rinses off easily when the user is finished. I use it on my jaw and my neck before I shave. This prevents razor bumps. Stay away from the eye area. It is pricey, but the price hasn't changed in quite a while. It is one of the few products that benefits ily skin as much as dry skin.
This is a great scrub. However, you should know that this is a very aggressive scrub. I only use this in my T-zone area, which is where I'm mostly oily at and I have large pores at. The scrub completely clears my pores and makes my skin feel so glossy and clean. However, I don't think I will use this on my beard. I have a sensitive beard, and I could only scrub the same area of my face 1-2 times with it because of how harsh it was exfoliating. This is a literal scrub with no lubricant other than water to mix with it. So while I would recommend this to others, I wouldn't recommend it to someone with sensitive skin unless they had a specific area to scrub.
This scrub is brilliant. And mild enough for daily use. I've been very pleased with the results I've seen so far when following the 3-step routine of cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise as my skin now appears clearer, smoother and less oily. That said, it is quite irritating to struggle to get the product out of the tube as it's such rigid plastic and quite a thick paste. It feels like I am going to end up wasting a certain amount when it nears the end as it will be impossible to use all the contents unless you cut the end off and scoop out any which remains.
I agree with Quinn's review. I've been a user of Clinique's Face Scrub for probably 15-20 years and a recent batch that I purchased removed the menthol and the grains are much larger, resulting in a less enjoyable experience (doesn't feel refreshing anymore without the menthol) and the larger grains don't clean/exfoliate the skin as well as the old, sand-like grains that REALLY exfoliated well and made your skin soft and super smooth.Clinique Face Scrub for Men has kept me truly looking young for my age, so I planned on always using it, but this new, disappointing formula is making me look elsewhere for someone to replicate the original, refreshing formula, unless Clinique brings it back themselves. Why remove the menthol when it reinvigorates your skin when using it and why make the granules larger when it results in a less effective scrub? Doesn't make sense.
As others have noted, Clinique has updated the formula (and also changed the shape of the tube to easily tell the difference). The new tube is oval shaped. Now that said, on to the review:I was a regular user of the old face scrub (and the iterations before that and even before that...). So far, I have found this formula to feel similar to the previous - the scrub particles are just as fine and densely packed in the scrub, the consistency of the actual scrub paste feels similar as well. The significant difference as others have noted is the lack of menthol. I admit I loved that cooling feeling, yet after reading that menthol is actually a skin irritant versus providing any benefit, maybe it's for the best.In comparing the ingredients, as of today (Feb 11, 2021), ... MoreAs others have noted, Clinique has updated the formula (and also changed the shape of the tube to easily tell the difference). I compared the two and noted in the update: the menthol is gone and caramel is now the last ingredient (as opposed to third last). And the ILN # (whatever that is) is now 45828. Everything else is exactly the same.Hope it helps - I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews here for both the men's & women's scrub (side note, from what any Advisor has told me, the men's & women's products are the same except for packaging). For me, this updated scrub seems fairly similar and I'll manage without the menthol. (Tho sorry to hear others have not had a good experience so far.) I'd recommend trying it out to see what you think!
