We are very disappointed in our marine cooler 70 qt. coleman cooler suppose to keep ice for 5 days. After only a day in a half the ice was melted. We had a coleman for a good many years and was very impressed with it. We bought another coleman but not impressed with this one. Will be looking into another in the future.

Cool Cooler!I love this cooler! Its large enough to hold a substantial amount of goodies for a day out or fridge essentials when electricity goes out in the winter, that's the main purpose of this cooler for me.Its compact enough to leave on balcony during the winter and at 5'3", i can easily lift it on my own. I love that it has wheels, a table top lid with cup holders and a retractable handle so i can use it in warmer months on a picnic. As always, I'm very happy with my purchases from Canadian Tire. Thanks !

This cooler has of great features, such as a great handle and wheels to make it easy to pull. Just bought this cooler last week for a 3 night/4 day camping trip. I was very disappointed that it did not live up to the promise of 5 days of ice. By night 3 there was no ice left. It wasn’t even a hot weekend so I really don’t think it will keep ice for 2 days it’s normal summer temperatures. The cooler was kept under the end of a trailer in the shade, all items that were put in the cooler were either frozen or had been in the fridge, and a large block of ice was placed in the cooler, along with lots of ice plus frozen water bottles. The water bottles had no ice by day 4. I used to have a Coleman extreme cooler which I was extremely happy with until it got stolen ... MoreThis cooler has of great features, such as a great handle and wheels to make it easy to pull. Would give this zero stars if possible. A cardboard box would do a better job.We bought this recently as it was on sale. We packed the cooler up with block ice and cubed ice Saturday afternoon and left camping. By Sunday all of the ice was melted. I could understand the cubed ice as that always melts fast, but the block ice was completely melted. We had another larger Coleman cooler with us that was opened more frequently, that still had 2/3 of the block ice when we got home on Monday evening. This cooler is advertised to keep ice for 5 days. It didn't even keep it for one.
I've had this cooler for 3 or 4 years and it's great. I bought it because we have another Coleman Xtreme Cooler but that one doesn't have wheels and it was very heavy to carry when full. This one has less room because of the wheels but that's fine with me. I can pull it over grass, stony driveways, and gravel. My wife can also pull it around because of the wheels. We needed something that would keep food frozen for a few hours on our drive up north. This cooler does the job. These Xtreme Coolers say that they can keep things frozen up to 5 days but you need to keep the lid closed tight at all times. If you keep opening it, then it won't keep things frozen that long. I used it for a party last summer and had about 50 cans of pop in it with lots of ice and all the ice ... MoreI've had this cooler for 3 or 4 years and it's great. If you keep opening it, then it won't keep things frozen that long. I used it for a party last summer and had about 50 cans of pop in it with lots of ice and all the ice melted by the end of the evening. I expected that to happen because people were opening and closing the lid all afternoon (and not always closing it tight). Also, just like a freezer, food stays frozen better if it's full rather than just half-full.I wash the inside with warm soapy water after each use because I don't want any food smells staying in it for several months. I don't know if that would happen, but I wash it anyways.I would definitely recommend this model because it keeps the food frozen and because of the wheels. You don't want to carry something this big when it's full.
We bought this because we were meeting friends and where we were going there was no power. It was rated highly on its coolness preservation, had two very nice wheels, an extendable handle and the lid could even be used as a table as it has spots for your favourite cold(from inside the cooler)drinks and lots more room for the rest of your meal stuff on the top. While wheeling it out to the great spot you’ve chosen for lunch, you can transport the chairs and blanket on the top leaving one of your two hands free to hold other party stuff or your sweethearts hand white walking out to your romantic picnic spot or group party site. These often don’t come with power plugs, so then you can even use some of the stored ice to cool your drinks.
I've had my come for a few years but have only used it 3 times. After my first trip, the handle would only pop up on one side, making the wheels useless. After my second use, the lid no longer sealed... It definitely does not have 5 day ice retention, id say 2 days at best. Just a very unimpressive cooler overall. The third use, not having a handle that pops out all the way was really annoying, because it was used for a ball tournament, for one day, for a team bbq.. Being able to roll out around would have been great, but that wasn't an option...
Works well in terms of being a cooler good size and holds in the cold. One complaint is the weight. When you need to carry it and cannot use the wheels it's heavy compared to others I've had. The pulley also feels a bit loose works but gives me some pause. Hasn't been a year yet, as of the time of this review.
I did science: I have a really old Coleman 45L cooler, I think same as 085-3435-6, and a new 66L Xtreme 5. I put approx 4.4Kg of ice in each. The ice was in the form of one block molded from a 2L milk carton, 6 blocks molded from 250ml sour cream containers, and 3 "regular" sized ice-cube trays. There was otherwise no food or drinks in the coolers. This was set in my house, so ambient temperature was about 22C. Ice melted to just a couple tiny chunks after 30 hours in the old cooler, and 65 hours in the new one. Internal temp in the old cooler started at 5C and rose to 11C after 30 hours... not really safe for some foods. The new cooler started at 3C and rose to 9C after 65 hours... marginally better for safety, but it did last 2x longer.Subjective comparison: for ... MoreI did science: I have a really old Coleman 45L cooler, I think same as 085-3435-6, and a new 66L Xtreme 5. The new cooler started at 3C and rose to 9C after 65 hours... marginally better for safety, but it did last 2x longer.Subjective comparison: for a weekend camping trip, the old cooler had to be restocked with ice (cubes) every day. After food & drink the cooler would be filled the rest of the way with cubed ice, typically 2 of those bags of ice you buy at the store. The new cooler is bigger, and thus can hold more ice given the same amount of food & drinks, plus I used a couple blocks molded from milk cartons instead of just cubes, so not really a fair comparison. But anyway my goal was to last a 3 day weekend without needing more ice, and the Xtreme 5 cooler did the job in 25-27C daytime weather (15C night). It would not have lasted 5 days, maybe to the morning of the 4th day... I had it filled perhaps half with food and half ice and it was being opened many times during the day. I'm sure Coleman's 5 day rating applies when filled with more ice and not opened very much. Anyway, I'm happy with the performance, it's at least 2 to 3 times better than the old cooler.
Have always felt that I can count on Coleman, and previous products, lanterns, stoves, even coolers were always great. Well this purhase is the worst purchase I have ever made. Yes I read some reviews on this, but didn't think they were true. The cooler DOES NOT keep cold, took it camping with ice packs, they melted in the first day. Then used it again to hold cold drinks, filled the cooler up with drinks and ice, and hours later had cans of pop floating in water. Before you judge, no it did not keep getting opened, and we had plenty of ice. It has been hot here on the West Coast, but get real.
