Comfy but a tad small!

I've been wanting to get a pair of hikers for a while but there are so many stores and brands it becomes confusing. I usually try to just get everything from JCP so I was happy to see a famous name brand in a hiker for a reasonable price. I am normally a perfect size 5 1/2 in JCP shoes. During long walks my feet tend to spread out a bit so I often buy a hiking boot - not a shoe - that is a tad larger but it comes up around the ankle for support. I decided to order a size 6 and I'm very happy I did. The size is perfect with just a small amount of wiggle room in the toes. I've worn these on a short walk around the neighborhood and they were very lightweight, comfortable, and supportive. I don't know if they are waterproof as I didn't encounter any puddles yet! I got the gray pair and they're kind of cute too. I did expect the size 6 to be a little wider but they were not, so I would caution that they may run a bit narrow. They seem very well constructed. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase considering I didn't have a chance to try them on first. Thanks, JCP!

Definitely NOT wide width, mediocre quality

I have worn Columbia shoes (hiking boots, hiking shoes, sport shoes) for years. I usually pay more per pair than I did for these Crestwood shoes, but I wanted to try their "wide width." In addition, my older Columbia shoes were beginning to wear out (after a lot of use), so I needed to purchase new shoes. In the past, I have not had an issue with regular width Columbia shoes, but I recently bought thicker socks and thought the "wide width" would accommodate the socks better. I could use the new, thicker socks with my older shoes (regular width) even though my feet were slightly snug (but still comfortable). I bought this pair, and their width was less roomy than both of my regular width Columbia shoes from two years ago. In fact, the new Crestwood pair had a much smaller/narrower toe box than any Columbia shoe I had ever owned. Even with thinner socks, my feet felt cramped in both the width and toe box areas. I checked the interior labels to make sure the shoes were wide width, and the labels stated that they were. I also noticed that the shoe tongues were not attached on their sides like they had been on all of the previous Columbia shoe models I had purchased. This just made it more of a pain to put on the shoes, but that wasn't a deal breaker. I was very disappointed in the fit, but I thought I would purchase the same pair again just in case I received a defective pair. The second pair's width had more room than the first pair, but they were basically the same width as my old regular width Columbia shoes. The toe box on this one was tolerable, but not nearly as roomy as my previous regular width Columbia shoes. I returned the first pair and kept the second only because I needed a pair of shoes. I like the look of them, but the fit isn't my favorite. These shoes are definitely NOT "wide width." Perhaps next time, I will go back to the more expensive Columbia shoes, because these do not have the same quality as my previous pairs. I just hope that the narrower width and cramped toe box aren't the trend for Columbia shoes now, especially because I will need to find another shoe manufacturer if this is the case. Bottom line, I would not recommend this particular pair of shoes.

This is my second pair. The toe box is a little roomy, but this also accommodates a prescription orthotic when the insole provided is taken out. I wear these for everyday errands and retired my old pair to mowing the lawn and gardening. I feel like they are just OK for a moderate hike on uneven terrain. I prefer more ankle support for this type of activity. Overall, they have a good stiff sole with good traction. Good for the price.

Great fit and great price
29 September 2022

I bought these to do some forest hiking and easy climbing. I tried on more expensive shoes but the arch was not compatible. These shoes fit my arch and were the same size as I normally buy shoes. The price was great for a well fitting shoe.I tried the shoe on trails that were were a mixture of both rough and hilly in places. They performed better than I had anticipated. I will definitely be buying these again.

Great value, excellent lightweight hiking shoe
13 November 2022

The great reviews on this shoe aren't wrong! This is a great lightweight hiking shoe that has perfect tread, good arch support and ample toe box - and after trying a few different weights of sock for both cold and warmer weather, I'm super pleased. These are comfy right out of the box, and were worn right away in rainy, muddy conditions. Waterproof, and an excellent value for the price - even if you just want an extra pair of hiking shoes to have on hand, these are the ones to buy.

Happy Customer
4 December 2022

I was hesitant about ordering these shoes online because I have a hard time finding shoes to fit right and that are comfortable, but I was looking for a good shoe with good support and a coworker recommended Columbia's. I usually wear a nine wide but after looking at the pictures and reading reviews I ordered a regular size nine. When the shoes arrived, I tried them on and wore them to work and have worn them every day since. They are comfortable and have the support I need. I am so pleased with these shoes that I'm going to order another pair.

Incredibly comfortable from the first wear
14 July 2023

I am so pleased with these hikers, they are a great width for my broader feet and have a wonderful supportive innersole. Most shoes I have had to add orthotics but not with this pair.Very grippy soles, I have felt secure even on wet leaves and rainforest walks. The uppers are very good insulation and repel water well.I have been using them everyday since I bought them for beach and bush hikes and I will be taking them overseas to Europe soon. I feel confident they will serve me well.Excellent value for less than I had budgeted to spend so I am very happy.

Love these shoes
19 January 2023

I cannot wear most hiking boots, or any boots for that matter, because they cause pain in my hips and back and I needed a pair of shoes for going out and doing the animals that I knew were going to be in mud at times. Used to use old sneakers but they weren't practical. So I thought I'd try these. I love them. There not quite as stiff as normal work boots in the soles. My back and hips don't hurt in them. There great for outside. I've had to wash them twice and they hold up to that, mud, rain (thought not waterproof), snow. I love them. If these prove to hold up, which I bought these in Sept 2022 and they still look new as of Jan 2023 (when cleaned up), I will be getting another pair if there still being made and sold. Sturdy and comfortable
27 April 2023

I can’t believe I did it but the first time I wore these I went on a 3.5 mile hike with no backup shoe. Not very smart but I got lucky because they were so comfortable. No blisters or soreness. They are also very sturdy and I can tell they will last me for years. I wear between a 7 and 7.5 and I bought the 7 because I didn’t want my foot sliding around the inside of the shoe at all. My foot doesn’t slide and they don’t feel tight either. All in all a really great fit.

They’re My Go-To Shoes
6 June 2023

I am so in love with these shoes. I’ve had problems with my feet my entire life. Finding comfortable shoes that don’t give me achey feet by the end of the day has always been a challenge. I found the grey/blue version of this shoe at a Columbia store 30 miles away, but had to go up a size because I wear orthotics and have wide feet. I didn’t see a wide version available in 6.5, or any size for that matter. I liked them so much, and they felt so good that I wanted a tan or light brown pair. I checked a couple of other Columbia stores that are closer but couldn’t find what I was looking for. I decided to go online and found this pair…in my size…in a wide…and on sale. These two pairs have been my go-to shoes ever since. I love them. I just wish Columbia would sell more ... MoreI am so in love with these shoes. I’ve had problems with my feet my entire life.
