A great vacation hiker for the the Smoky Mountains

I started wearing these about a year ago when I turned 70 and needed more ankle support, comfort, lower profile. I know for myself with these Crestwood Mid Waterproof that I need to get one size larger than I wear and a wide width they run narrow for myself. I hike in the Great Smoky Mountains a couple times a year and here at home 3 to 4 miles just about every day on a kind of rocky and steep up and down trail, no flat trail for me ha ha. These are not a backpacking boot or it is not going to last you for 3 or 4 years like a Keen or Merrell might but they are for what I do they are comfortable and supportive. Remember if your new or just starting out hiking as you hike your feet will swell a little. Columbia Crestwood - Bang for a Budget

I got these boots as a gift when I started getting into hiking and backpacking as a “starter” boot and came to absolutely love them. Over the past 2 years I think I’ve pushed them well past their average lifespan but they’re still kicking. Even after a full week of walking through creeks and being wet, they were ready to go after being dried. Speaking of being wet, the waterproofing works; the only complaint is that the water starts to seep in when you step in a puddle that crests on top of the boot, but it gets the job done! I highly recommend these boots for someone looking to get into outdoor activities on a budget.

Needed something for winter. Regular boots are not comfortable. Walk on concrete all day. Customer service rep suggested these.Immediately fit perfectly! Definitely warm for the cold winter. Waterproof a definite plus. Shovel snow @ job. Glad I spent the money.

Easy to Break-In
29 March 2023

After reading the reviews that the size is slightly small, I ordered 1/2 size up and it fit perfectly. I took it from the box to the trail and had no break-in problems. It was easy on my feet. I took if for hike in muddy terrain and it held well and did not slip. When terrain or trail was rocky and my ankle would turn, the boot allowed some flexibility but protected my ankle from severe turning. I also use it to walk on hard surfaces like concrete and asphalt and it's perfect.

Highly Impressed!

First off im NOT a hiker. Im a fat guy from missouri who decided to go hiking in the Rockies. After looking at Merrels and Salamon boots in the $175-230 price range i wasnt happy with the fit and feel. The gentleman at the store suggested these and they were Very comfortable. I bought them on a thursday, and wore them on an 11 mile hike up 2,000 feet that saturday, and my feet never hurt once! No break in, and no blisters! They are absolutely not a replacement for snow cleats, but in mud and over rocks they performed exceptionally! They felt pretty warm at first but still breath well. And my feet stayed completely dry after walking through creeks and up a waterfall. I highly recommend these boots! Unlike the $200 boots iv read many reviews about not lasting~

Lighter With Good Support
9 November 2022

I like mid-hi boots for most of my walking as my ankles are a bit weak. These boots definitely provide the support I need. They are a bit lighter weight than other boots tried in the past. They handle almost all of the weather (water) I've run into. They give excellent traction for the price. The laces seem to wear like other boots I've owned, but the uppers seem to be tough and the soles are lasting longer. I'm very pleased with these boots.

Mediocre Hiking shoes
2 March 2020

Having used this for the past year its an okay shoe. To start things out, the shoes insoles are horrendous. They are just bad to the point where they feel uncomfortable and cheaply made. In fact I would recommend you if you get these shoes to throw away the included insoles as they provide 0 comfort and hurt your feet after you hike beyond 8 miles. The next con thing about these shoes is the waterproofing. In fact when hiking local mountains like Mt. Baldy, Cucamonga Peak, and other higher peaks, these shoes would do horrible at the most in the snow which would required me to use my other Columbia shoes in order to summit the peak. In fact one thing to note once your shoes become wet in the outer membrane in the front of the shoes they make the shoes heavier. In ... MoreHaving used this for the past year its an okay shoe. In fact one thing to note once your shoes become wet in the outer membrane in the front of the shoes they make the shoes heavier. In addition the waterproofing doesn't cover the entirety of the shoe. I guess its for the pros. First pro about these shoes how the rubber is solid and gives a good grip. The next pro is how cushioning besides the insoles are good. Overall these shoes are alright but if your looking about more waterproof then I would avoid this as it really does suffer especially in the waterproofing.Winter Hiking:Note: All Crampons will not fit with these. In fact these shoes are not meant with use of crampons they will not work in fact these are flexible shoes not meant for those peaks. I would say they are micro spikes compatible. If you want an Crampons the only ones that will work securely are K10 from Kahtoola and I would recommend getting Columbia Titanium Hiking Shoes, Columbia Newton Ridge as these two products fits well with the K10 and microspikes as my friends used them on their and would fit well. Other than that this shoe is good mainly for the summer not for the winter more or less.If your looking for summer hiking shoes they are good but if your looking for something for both seasons (Winter/Summer) then avoid this shoe and get the Columbia Terrebonne II Mid Titanium Outdry Extreme Men's Hiking Boot or the Columbia Newton Ridge. As these two products are good for both seasons.

The Problem With Online Shopping

I purchased a pair of hiking boots item number-60880404 from your on line store, due to not having stock anywhere near buy. No problem , Selected my size, to make sure I checked with your sizing chart, Being that Aus/Uk size was first on the list and shaded, I believed this would be the size, I was wrong they came in American size, No problem referred to your return policy and could not understand what I could do , I decided to take them back to the Cleveland store to see if they could help, they informed me they could not exchange in-between stores, that I could look at there stock for a exchange. They only had two boots in my size, One was blue, the other not that bad of a color. They were $199.99 being the only ones that fit I purchased them. Very comfortable but may not last as long as I'd like
11 October 2022

These boots are very comfortable and feel good on my wide feet. I used these for elk hunting in early September this year and was very pleased with them. I would give them a 5 star review but after putting around 50 miles on them I noticed that the sole was separating a little. I was debating if this was worthy of a 3 star rating or 4 star because of this. I'm not sure if a better shoe glue is needed or what but I will try to fix this on my current pair because I do really like these boots.
