Was on a business trip and needed a rain jacket. Purchased this watertight II jacket and loved the colour, how it fit, and how it looked on me. Wore it out in the rain around 3 times and already wetting out. The dwr seems like it failed. Only owned the jacket a few months. Owned a lot of Columbia jackets in the past and they were great. This one let me down. Going to try and reach customer service to see if something can be done with it.

I bought this jacket because I spend quite a few days in the rain each year watching my kids play sports outdoors all year round. Within a week of receiving this jacket, it was put to a serious test. I was outside at a game and it started to downpour. The rain carried on for at least an hour with downpour conditions. I sat in my umbrella chair, put a waterproof blanket over my legs and just used this jacket as my only barrier above my waste. No umbrella. The water just beaded up and rolled down the jacket the entire time. The closest the water came to getting through was about a half an hour of sitting there not moving much, there was a little pool of water from not moving. I got back to the car, removed the jacket, and there was not a drop of moisture anywhere covered by the jacket. At the next game, the other parents asked me how I sat there the entire time in the downpour and never even picked up my umbrella. I told them it was the jacket and that I found it easier than trying to hold an umbrella in rainy, windy conditions. I love this jacket. It serves its purpose. I came back to this site because it's raining again today and my wife commented on how much better my jacket was in the rain compared to the one she has that is a different brand. She will be looking at Columbia rain jackets to replace her current jacket and seeing mine in action for months. This jacket was a great purchase.

The jacket is extremely light and compact. I have worn it in two moderate rain storms so far and it has functioned well. The hood is large and in a heavy wind can be pulled in to cover your head and keep things dry. I purchased a large size, which is just a bit big, but I wanted to make sure I could layer some fleece or heavy clothing under it in the cooler weather.Very pleased with it so far.

I bought this for a trip to Europe and it performed flawlessly. I got caught in a number of drenching rain storms walking through Amsterdam, a relentless rain and cold in Kinderkijk and a deluge hiking the length of the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland. The jacket kept me high and dry in each case beading the water off and kept the camera dry I kept in the pocket. It affords surprising warmth for not being lined and good protection against the wind. I took it everywhere as it easily folded into it's own pocket and was light in the backpack. Plus it looks good on. Very pleased. Great Jacket!!!
I love this jacket! Its lightweight yet blocks wind and rain pretty good. The reason for 3 stars is the zippers (especially the pockets) get the fabric of the jacket caught in them ever single zip. You have to develop a way to strategically keep the fabric away everytime you zip up... Its really annoying. Its still my daily carry, but I truly hope the next design of this type will be free of this annoyance.
I bought this jacket specifically for its waterproof features, last October. Well I didn’t have the chance to be in drenching rain until last week, and was happy I had my jacket with me. Until my Tshirt got soaked through inside. What is the point of a water-tight jacket? The raincoat had to be line dried overnight for it to dry, that’s how soaked it was. I bought the boys version for my son recently but am about to return it after this incident.
Solid jacket, packs up small in it's own pocket. Light enough for warm weather to beat the rain. Was looking for a well priced jacket for travel that packs up small and ultimately ended up on this. Only "complaint" I have is it doesn't have armpit zips but definitely beats spending more than double on a north face or equivalent.I'm normally a size Large but Medium fit me perfectly for not layering underneath. (6'2, 165lbs)
Haven't tested it in the rain but rain it under the sink for a few min and the water rolls off. One shake after and the jacket is totally dry. It's crazy! Hopefully, the same in the rain for an extended time. Only complaint is the hood tightening feature and that it tightens around the side. So when pulled tight it almost pulls the hood off your head? Usually they go around the face which makes sense. We will have to see if the back-tightening strap works in the wind.
It is waterproof light rain jacket which is packable too (on left pocket from outside to inside) and can be useful on backpack traveling. Whenever there was rain I could use it and continue my Europe travel which I had recently. Quality is good too. I can’t say it is large but sleeve is little long for me but as you can adjust it tighter so it will be much better. I ordered Medium which I had on winter jacket too but on winter jacket sleeve is better fitting for me rather than this rain jacket.
If you want a straight-forward, very practical rain jacket that will keep you dry in just about any rainy weather, look no further. That said, this is not necessarily a jacket that will keep you too warm as it does not have any real insulation — there are other Columbia jackets that would probably tick that box at a slightly higher price range. The material is very breathable so you don't have to worry about getting uncomfortably clammy and ultimately more wet than if you were to try and stay dry during some warm weather drizzles. It also works fairly well as a windbreaker. I used this as a shell over some fleece and it warded off some of those sharp wind chills pretty effectively. This also seems like it would be a good option for commuting cyclist who might need ... MoreIf you want a straight-forward, very practical rain jacket that will keep you dry in just about any rainy weather, look no further. This also seems like it would be a good option for commuting cyclist who might need some protection from the elements but not get completely soggy with sweat. There are no pockets other than the front hand pockets, which might be a downside for some folks, but it's not really a big deal as the front pockets have ample room and zippers to seal off important items. Sizing seems pretty accurate. It looked and felt great in my size whether I added layers underneath or didn't. The jacket folders into one of the hand pockets if you need it to be really compact for traveling. All in all, great jacket.
