These are very tight and fit like skinny jeans, which is absolutely not what hiking pants should ever feel like. These pants are a very tight fit, particularly around the waist and crotch, but the thighs / legs are tight too.If you size properly, you'll be wearing uncomfortably tight pants. If you size up, they're baggy in all the wrong places, but still tight in other places, and look completely goofy while still being uncomfortable. Who designed these? The material is very thin, they feel like they would tear if you brushed near a blackberry bush. If you kneeled on rock or gravel to tie a shoe a dozen times, I would be surprised if they didn't wear right through.I don't know anyone who actually spends time outdoors who wants super tight pants, whatever ... MoreThese are very tight and fit like skinny jeans, which is absolutely not what hiking pants should ever feel like. I guess I'll seek another brand. Hugely disappointed.

I've owned a lot of warm weather pants and tried many styles and fabrics in my life, and, these are my all time favorites.Perfectly cut to look good but with enough room for comfort (Im 6'/183lbs). The construction is very strong and each piece put into these pieces is quality. Everytime I open or close the zipper of the left leg pocket I appreciate the use of a small refined mechanism and how smoothly and silently it moves in action. The elastic bands in the waist do not die, and make the fit always comfortable. Velcro closures on back and right leg pocket stay neat and closed, and the belt loops perfectly sized and generous in width hold my standard beefy 1.5 inch belt. They wash easily by hand or machine. I line dry mine because they dry so quickly there is no ... MoreI've owned a lot of warm weather pants and tried many styles and fabrics in my life, and, these are my all time favorites.Perfectly cut to look good but with enough room for comfort (Im 6'/183lbs). Absolutely cool even when it's 90 and 50% humidity in NYC.Funny last detail: I discovered these pants by asking a guy I saw on a Manhattan street if he'd mind telling me where he got his pants. He was like 6'4", not too muscular, nice build, and he looked great wearing them...His first line in was response was " I love these pants, I have like 5 pair because they're a great price and they're incredibly comfortable. He shared the store to go to and I got 2 pair. This summer I waited too long and they were sold out for the summer but were kind enough to give me the sku numbers so I grabbed 2 more pair in new colors online.Perfect from first sight to most recent purchase.

The good: good value on sale; accurate 34/32 fit, with room for athletic thighs without being baggy. Included narrow belt is functional (belt loops are 1.5" or smaller). Hand/front pockets are mesh. Left cargo pocket zips and right cargo pocket has a velcro secured flap -- I find having one of each very useful. Back pockets have velcro closures. To improve: velcro closures are too small in the 3 flaps; they have detached in my similar Silver Ridge Cargo Shorts and even after sawing them back require careful re-sticking. So, cannot rely on them to keep contents from falling out.Fabric also seems to stain very easily.Nice to have: another small pocket inside one of the cargo pockets for a small card wallet. Could just be a patch without any extra closure (REI's ... MoreThe good: good value on sale; accurate 34/32 fit, with room for athletic thighs without being baggy. We travel. A lot. So naturally, we prefer clothing that is light weight, packable, easy-care, and wrinkle resistant. We're in our late 60s, and those clingy, odor trapping, synthetic materials that stick to your body just don't quite work for us. We kayak-fish, and for his birthday, I purchased Columbia's Backcast convertible fishing pants for my husband. He loved the fit, UV protection and comfort, and I loved how nice they look straight from the dryer. Got him a second pair before a cruise to Alaska, and he said the only thing that was missing to make them the perfect travel pants was more pockets. So the first place I checked was Columbia, and voila! In their Silver Ridge Cargo pants, we found the same excellent fit, UV protection, comfort and easy-care features. ... MoreWe travel. A lot. Plus, plenty of pockets, including a zip-closure pocket on the left leg, which is perfect for my left-handed husband's phone. Now his only trouble is remembering which pocket he put the rest of his stuff in.
I've worn these pants now on 3 separate hiking / camping trips and am just not impressed. The material is lightweight & maybe their design choices would work better for someone else but here are the specifics:The fitI am 6'-1" tall & weigh about 150lbs. my normal pants size (32) was too small to put my hands in the pockets, so I ordered the next size up (34) & now I am constantly cinching the built in belt (which doesn't stay tight). This is particularly problematic when backpacking as the hip belt of the pack is constantly pushing my pants down & every hundred paces I have to stop and pull them up again. The pockets are made of mesh.Pro: you wont get a lot of dirt or and in your pocket and they stay a tiny bit coolerCon: you cannot carry anything in the ... MoreI've worn these pants now on 3 separate hiking / camping trips and am just not impressed. For me, I'll keep looking.
Surprisingly pleased with these pants. Based on low price, I was afraid the quality and fit of the pants would not be great, but the fears were misplaced. They are lightweight, as advertised, but will be great for all seasons but winter. And sometimes lighter weight pants look a bit sloppy and hang loose, but these pants fit great and look super nice. I wear a 36x32 and the fit was perfect. The two side pockets are very nice and large enough to be useful without making the pants look sloppy. One of the pockets even has a nice zipper for extra security. They really are very comfortable when sitting or hiking/walking. The pockets are all deep enough with a mesh type inside material that will breathe and also appears to be very sturdy for long wear. They also are ... MoreSurprisingly pleased with these pants. They also are wrinkle free after washing and I'm betting they will pack very well. In fact, I believe they will be the perfect travel pant and I'll find out in about a month. I got the Tusk color which is true to the color on the web site. I've had Columbia's Omni shade protection before on clothing and it seems to work very well. The only think I'm not wild about is the belt. Although it looks nice enough it's pretty light weight and I'll probably use a leather belt most of the time. The belt was a bonus is the way I look at it.I'm buying another pair in a grey color. I highly recommend these pants.
These pants are replacing the Under Armour golf pants I have been wearing for a couple of years. The Columbia Silver Ridge pants are much higher quality than UM in every regard. The material is much stronger, breathes better, and has sun protection. It has a small, but very welcome stretch. The tailoring and stitching are first rate -- like pants at Neiman Marcus. Even down to the front button: It's metal and much higher quality and not stitched like the plastic buttons on other pants. Last are the features: deep pockets; extra pockets on the front; and rear pockets with a protective flap over the top. I can't think of a single thing I would change about these pant -- except keeping the right colors and sizes in stock. Others must like them as much as me.
I bought these pants because I liked the fact it had a zippered pocket. Unfortunately, when I put my mobile phone into the zippered pocket, the phone rested against my knee joint. I tried another pocket, which had the same problem. Basically, the pockets are positioned as to be useless for anything other than a state ID or a credit card. (I ended up putting my phone in the back pocket, which was the only place it felt comfortable.)In addition to these issues, I don't know why these are called "cargo" pants. In my experience, cargo pants have more room in the leg area and are looser than regular pants. These pants are just regular-sized and do not have extra room in the thigh area. I would NOT recommend this product unless you are average-sized, carry a thin ... MoreI bought these pants because I liked the fact it had a zippered pocket.
