The material definitely feels man made and I am a bit doubtful that they will withstand hard use.Waterproofing seems good for the outside of the shoe.To combat sweat, the boot has a highly breathable mesh tongue. This ensures that you don’t end up with the dreaded humid sock at the end of your trip.The laces tie securely and should not move around once done correctly.The soles feel super grippy. You can actually bent the lugs with you fingers. They definitely will help you in wet conditions. However, this feature may shorten their life span.

Boots seemed decent comfort wise and true to size. Looks are OK. Only has 6 sets of eyelets and was a little tough to get the fit right and tie the foot down properly. Ankle support not great but better than a shoe. Not for serious hiking or backpacking. Boots did not feel like good quality but for someone on a budget, they might work out OK. Upper material seemed thin and cheap. Sole lugs were not very deep and were soft for a hiking shoe. Looking for a light duty hiking boot to wear for a vacation. I have looked many brands of boots with different purposes and at varying price points. After my search, my conclusions brought me to the decision that I would be using these not for alpine ascents, but for a one week vacation on the west coast and for walking my dogs. These columbia boots seem to fulfill that need well and the price point was attractive as well. I am hoping they last through the end of the year, but if they don't that's ok as well. My expectations are low and I am hoping they exceed them. I am rating them 5 stars as they fit well and so far as I break them in there are no issues.

This is my second pair of these boots. I wear them 5 days a week for work. The first pair lasted 2 years and were great, but I had a couple complaints. The tongue popped out and gave little to no support and the eyelets were made of soft metal and would bend out and I would have to bend it back. My third complaint were the laces. They only lasted 3-4 months. The new boots fixed every complaint I had. The tongue doesn't pop out and the eyelets have a indent which stiffens it and I doubt it will bend out. We'll see how the laces holdup. Overall I am very happy with them even though I've only wore them for 2 weeks.
Really light weight. I bought the wide size because I wear my footwear with aftermarket insoles. The fit is true. The construction is a little light. Let me explain. I’ve been wearing Lowa and Zamberlan boots for the past 30 or so years. One pair Lowa lasted lasted 7years, with proper care. The quality between theirs boots and the high end footwear is not one to be made, but when I say the construction of the Columbia Boot is light, I mean they will most likely not last as long as 8 years.Over all I am satisfied with the my purchase, and will be shopping for a winter boot in the coming months.
I bought these boots to have something warmer than my other boots for when the Temps fall under 25 degrees, and not bulky like my Wolverines which are too big for the 5hrs of driving I do daily. So far they have been very good. Although their insert is cheap foam and probably won't last long, it's surprisingly comfortable combined with the rest of the shoe. I stood at least 4hrs today and had zero problems. At over 250lbs I notice a cheap shoe right away, not this one. I've worn these in the snow a few times and theyve stayed waterproof and had good traction. I usually wear a 12w, but the 12 on this is adequate and not tight. The inside of this show doesn't bug you anywhere! But it did feel fine. Problem was the left shoe had a minor glue over run on top of left shoe and it stood out due to the light tan color. The biggest problem was the popping sound the left shoe made with every step. The material would bunch/bind above the flex point then release making the noise. Returned them. Columbia Customer Service has to be one of the better ones around. No charge to ship defective shoes back and their people always seem so nice. Still a pain though to have to deal with the return, but oh well.

The lugs of the sole are very soft and pliable for a hiking boot and feel they could tear and would not provide firm traction consistently. The whole inside heel area is hard without any padding and the fabric inside the shoe was a little harsh/rough/not soft feeling. The heel would move up and down some and did not feel snug in the shoe. Eyelets only come in 6 pairs which seems to make it hard to get optimal heel support and fit. The eyelets were not oriented straight and consistent and they did not provide easy tightening as the boot string would bind in the eyelet rings.-The top of the shoe would bend/crease over the toes instead of at the normal foot bend point and crush down on the toes in both boots. But the big thing was the leather finish was horrible and not smooth feeling. I could see spotty dark grey or blackish discoloration all around the boot which stood out against the lighter normal color of the boot. Looked terrible.-My advice is to look for lighter duty Hiking boots that retail over $200 and get them on sale if you can. Every boot I buy and/or read reviews on that retails less seems to have shortcomings and/or defects. However, if you want a cheaper boot like this, don’t care about minor problems, and don’t mind dealing with possible returns, you might get one that works without significant problems. Even so, this boot will not likely provide good long term durability as it is a cheaper boot.
Ok, so I'm picky when it comes to boots. I broke my back and was partially paralyzed. I had 3 surgeries and I am able to walk with again. So, I cannot have a heavy boot and I need waterproof because I live in a mountainous/rocky area. I can't break in boots because it will quickly cause me pain for days. I guess what I'm getting at I'm very picky and need the perfect boot. This fits the bill.I'm about to purchase my 5+ pair of these boots. There is no break in time, they are comfortable! I can walk and wear these much longer than any other boot that I have worn since I got hurt. I will most likely continue to buy these, I wear them daily, all day. I get about 9 months to a year out of these. These are the only boots I wear.
Great smooth leather boots (so far). Bought them (Nov 2022) to replace a pair of Columbia "Newton Ridge" boots in suede leather (2021). The suede tore on the the left boot (outer side). Thankfully, they were still under warranty. Mailed them back to Columbia, & I got refunded because they couldn't be repaired. Note, on the Columbia website the diagonal strip at the heel of these boots has a smokey blue-gray tint. But when I received them the diagonal strip is actually smokey black. I realize this is a minor issue & doesn't impact the boot's quality. Lastly, I purposely bought a 1/2 size larger (11.5 D vs 11 D) because I find that Columbia boots & shoes tend to run a little small.
