Let me preface by saying my husband is a contractor and former handyman and he HATED anything being sick on the walls because it pretty much always peeled the paint (even when it claimed it didn’t). These little beauties actually do what they say! As long as you remove them the correct way they won’t damage your walls or whatever you’re adhering to them! Just make sure you prep your walls properly so they can stick well!

I purchased these after moving into a nee apartment. I used them to hang a lightweight mirror on my closet door, however they weren't able to secure the mirror. The weight of the mirror was less than the weight capacity on the packaging. I repurchased and used them to hang several pictures in my bedroom. I will repurchase, just pay attention to the weight limit and possibly opt for a higher weight limit if possible.

I uses the picture hanging strips to hang small shelves in my bedroom. To make sure the shelves stay up, I used six large strips each. It has been two years and the shelves are still secured to the wall. I didn’t want to use the hardware to install the shelves because I knew I would have to sell the apartment eventually (divorce). The picture hanging strips were the perfect temporary solution. Bonus, I didn’t need a level because these strips are adjustable. You can just keep trying until the pictures (or shelves) are perfectly straight. I do not recommend putting anything too heavy if you use these strips for shelves. The package has the weight limit printed on it.

I’ve always liked using command strips to hang up pictures and other things around my apartment, especially in college when the lease was just a year. I’ve rarely had issues with things falling off the wall. My biggest issue with command strips is that they sometimes still rip paint off the wall, even if you follow the removal instructions and are careful. But it doesn’t happen every time!

The velcro command strips are amazing at hanging medium weight frames. I have used them on shadow boxes, regular frames and odd shaped objects. They work great and don’t mess up the walls which is great for renters. Make sure to have the velcro on both sides and pull the tape down when removing. Don’t pull up or you could take off paint.

I have loved command strips since the early 2000s. In college i used these to decorate my dorm without messing up the walls. And as an adult (currently livinginan apartment), i still love em for decorating without tools. Got all my picture in their frames and on the wall; and switching out pictures or even the frames literally takes 2 mins and my walls and paint are unbothered

Horrible. Costs more money to fix damage after

I used to swear by these! I have a picture that has been hanging for 4 years with this product with no issues. I don’t know if it’s a bad batch, or they change their product quality over the years, but lately every single one I’m using falls off the walls within a month or so, causing a lot more damage to my surrounding items. For example, my picture above the toilet fell off the wall, Breaking the top of the toilet tank, as well as the toilet seat and toilet paper holder. A $12 item now just cost me hundreds of dollars in damage, and there’s no one to talk to you about this and nothing that can be done. Also there’s damage on my walls it did not come off easily. Pictures below the damage and the item that was hanging. As you can see it’s a typical picture well ... MoreI used to swear by these! New strips are SUB STANDARD
5 October 2021

Ever since command strips have been available I have used them without a problem. I follow instructions to the letter and always use double the quantity to ensure they hold the weight. Recently I painted the walls, waited a month or more before replacing all my frames, one by one they have come crashing down. I noticed that as I applied the strips and peeled off the backing the strips lifted from the hook. Also there is now a section of the strip without adhesive. Repeatedly each reapplication failed 3-4 times. Today I bought nails.

Product Failure
1 May 2023

I have been using these products for family picture frames for about 4 months. They are beginning to fail at about 2 to 3 months. The larger frames have been the first to fail, and break on the floor on impact. None of these frames are over 1 pound...using multiple strips rated for 2.5 pounds or heavier (whatever in store). The smaller 4x6 frames remain attached.I have identified two failure points. First, the strips coming off the walls. Not an issue for smallest frames, yet. Standard latex walls cleaned before application. Second, detachment from the frames itself, the adhesive side on the frame.I have even used gorilla glue two-sided heavy duty tape on the frame, and then the Command strip on that tape. I purchased several packages over a period from different stores. Otherwise I would have provided for help on root cause.I had hoped to avoid nails in the walls, but there doesn't seem to be an alternative as this product is showing unreliability. For weightless plastic applications, it works. I have used other command products for years, which have mostly worked. For more practical uses on pricier objects, I would take caution and consider standard hooks.

Step 4 of install put a hole in my wall
2 October 2021

Well, on the plus side, my picture frame has been hanging well on the 3 remaining strips, ~2 months now since install. I was needing to hang a larger frame- 16"x20", a little heavy at about 3 or 4 pounds. My apartment allows small, thin nails, but I wasn't sure a small nail would be enough support, so I decided to minimize damage and use command strips, as I often have for smaller items before. The trick with command strips is of course, never pulling straight towards you. WHY, for the love of god, does Step 4 have you essentially doing just that then??!? (I imagine folks must run into the same issue removing their frame from the wall later, since it's the same movement you're doing.) The velcro is so strong on the strips, that when taking the frame off, even if you ... MoreWell, on the plus side, my picture frame has been hanging well on the 3 remaining strips, ~2 months now since install. (I imagine folks must run into the same issue removing their frame from the wall later, since it's the same movement you're doing.) The velcro is so strong on the strips, that when taking the frame off, even if you try your best to go slowly and tilt the frame, and carefully hold the one side of the strips to the wall (very hard to do even with small fingers), it inevitably pulls at the wall adhesive instead of the velcro. Hence, me ripping not just the paint, but a layer of my wall with the bottom right command strip. After this experience, I think I have to say, stay away from command strips made for heavier items, and where you cannot easily reach the removal tabs (as is the case for hanging frames, vs. something like a hook). The velcro is stronger than the wall adhesive and you will likely damage your walls from adhesive being ripped off before you have the chance to even access the removal tabs.
