I bought little spice racks made of fir to use for shelves for my nail polish. These strips are rated to hold several pounds, but they can't even hold a tiny less than 1 lb shelf on the wall. I tried multiple times and the shelves fell down every. single. time. I even added two more strips to each and the shelves all fell down again! So, $20-$25 wasted and my shelves are banged up now. Have used multiple Command products before and been happy, but these are GARBAGE. It isn't the glue that fails - the Velcro-like material in the middle keeps pulling apart.

Complete garbage. The box I got must be defective. The adhesive that holds the Velcro to the strip separates and comes off. All appear to be this his way. The whole 12 in the value pack. Great way to get a broken picture.

I have been buying and using command strips for years now. I've hung paintings, picture frames, shadow boxes, that contain pet memorials, small bathroom cabinets, heavy iron wall decor and the list goes on, without any issues! After reading some of the negative reviews, it makes me wonder if people are reading the instructions before use.To the people that have had things fall, make sure you're using multiple strips and that you're pushing really hard until you hear the velcro snap together. I've used as many as eight sets of the medium command strips, on one frame, before. It may seem like over kill but, it keeps the frame from falling off the wall.As far as I'm concerned, these things are amazing! Especially for renters.
I've heard about Command hanging strips for a while now. When 3m offered me a sample to try in exchange for a review, I jumped at the chance.We received some frames when I got married, but we never hung them because I don't like to have the same picture decor up all year round. With these, I thought it was perfect because you can easily remove the frame from the wall. 'You do need a little practice because if you are a perfectionist like me, you need to align the stickies on both the frame & the wall. I found using a flat metal ruler was helpful.Apart from that, I am super glad I discovered these because not only can I easily switch pictures on my frame due to the easy hanging... but I can move it around the house and not worry about little holes in my wall.
Purchased picture hanging strips to hang three pictures on painted walls, each picture weighing about 400g. I was attracted to this product as they claim to be "come off cleanly" (which I took to mean without damaging the paint finish on the wall). Followed instructions carefully but within 2 days the strips on two of the pictures had failed and the pictures had fallen, luckily without breaking. Decided to remove the strips from the wall and revert to good old picture hooks nailed into the wall. Followed instructions carefully regarding removal from the wall but took off paint so now left trying to match paint finish on wall. Won't use again. Far less damage done to the wall with good old nails and hooks.
I am renting an apartment and opted for "non damaging" method of hanging pictures. When my partner hung pictures but didn't use a level I wanted to remove from the wall and rehang so the pictures were level since the command strips are supposed to be damage free hanging, I thought it would be no big deal. They ripped through paint damaging the wall in numerous places making the walls look terrible. I was particular in buying the higher rated ones to hold more weight than I was hanging. I even bought the tool box velcro hangers and used for a shelf that fell off the wall pulling through the paint (even some drywall) and denting/cutting through the linoleum flooring. So irritated and now I am losing my $2000 deposit.
I had just finished stripping wallpaper and repairing and painting walls in our new home and the thought of nail holes was unpleasant. I bought these hangers and they work great. I have hung different size pictures and use the weight to determine how many to use but they really hold tight. Removing the pictures to level is real easy and there is room to adjust slightly after both sides of the strips are attached without moving the strip halves. Great product that really works and no holes in the new paint !!
Recently, I repainted my daughter’s bedroom and bought these to hang up framed prints -poster size, a white board, a memory board,and a full length wall mirror. These strips didthe job wonderfully! I also used these strips previously for these same items, and when we prepped the walls to be painted, the old command strips came off very easily. One spot left a little residue, but I was able to remove it easily. I did not give 5 stars because of the little bit of residue, but mainly because of the price. As much as I like using them, they are a bit over-priced. There are some new Command products out there that I would love to purchase, like the little jewelry hanger, but will not spend $20 on it. Too much!
So these seem like a great idea. And when you first hang pictures up, they work pretty well. But over time, we've had at least 4 pictures fall off the wall randomly because the sticky side came un-stuck from the picture frames. All 4 of the pictures/frame broke, so like a few other users, we also had well over $100 of frames/art to replace. Some stayed up for a year or so, one just stayed up about 2 years and then fell. It's just that...there's no way of knowing when this is going to happen, sometimes it's in the middle of the night.
