I purchased the Companion Propane heater a month ago. It is easy to use, propane bottles screw in easily and it ignites easily as well. It is light to carry and it puts out a good heat. I purchased the Companion with the view to running it off an LPG bottle but as yet I have not purchased the connecting gas hose. The propane bottles would be more expensive to run than off a gas bottle!

After Connecting the propane bottle takes about 1 minute to bleed the air out then starts very quickly and easily. Light weight easy to carry! I store mine in a 50L tote bag. Excellent heater no problems at all. I'd recommend all to buy a Carbon Monoxide detector from Bunnings as well from a safety point of view and only use in a well ventilated area and don't let children operated or touch it! Great Heater!!

I don’t know if it’s a problem with just my heater or all of them but I bought a cylinder to use the heater and the new one only lasted approximately half to one hour. So mine will be going back I think. At $9-10 per hour it’s too expensive to heat any area. Give a fire pit for camping and I’ll do without in my annex.
Great heater but not very efficient with a breeze. But I’m saying that get the hands warm on a minus temp day. Would buy again.
It kicks out a lot of heat for our balcony. It can be set to a lower setting but if you have this on full , it seems that a canister will only last about 4 hours. That can start to get expensive .
A few improvements on the previous model. The safety grid (or cage) has more wires closer together which is better at stopping things from falling in. It is also a little taller allowing for better ventilation as there are more air vents at the base (hot air goes up). It has a left side inlet. The older (red) has a right side. That would be a consideration for people using a larger POL bottle. I only noted that because if I still had my old red one I would not be able to use it here as the bottle would be on the other side. I guess it would not be hard to design an extension to run a bottle from either side.

I have accepted a greater risk and ordered a different portable heater that uses bottled gas. The portable canisters only last 4 hours when at maximum. Th 2kg canisters are like 4 or more portable canisters so will last the 6 hours we need for our music sessions.
Attaching the propane cylinder is very difficult; the cylinder just went around and around. One has to jamb it in hard at the same time with twisting in the hope it will engage. The same cylinders work easily on the Companion single stove unit. I tried three different cylinders. The pilot light came on with the timed press down, but the unit kept going out. I finally got it to work when I did two timed presses; one in the pilot position, and next in the lo-hi position. Reasonable heat when finally on. Sore hands afterwards when starting this.
Great heat, lightweight and easy to use. Camping on the June long weekend we knew it would be cold...3 degrees so bought this for taking the edge off before getting under the covers. It was exactly what we needed and I'll be using it for those days where I need to spend time tinkering in my garage too.
