Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo is one of the most prolific fashion designers of all time. Aside from her Comme des Gar ons collections, she has had numerous sneaker collaborations over the years. One of the most outstanding of these collaborations involves her different iterations of work modifying and styling up the Converse Chuck Taylor with her sub-label Comme des Gar ons PLAY. Kawakubo s first iteration of his Converse Chuck Taylors came about in 2009 when she modified the original by stripping back its contrast stitching. Six years later, in 2015, she took the All Star Chuck 70s as her template and created a shoe so beloved that it has been re-released every year since. The most immediately recognizable thing in shoes from the Comme des Gar ons PLAY line is their heart and eyes logo, originally conceived and created by Filip Pagowski. Unlike the original 2009 version, however, the 2015 version and every version thereafter has moved away from the original minimalist philosophy that inspired Kawakubo to start this line of collaborations. The Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70s Hi Comme des Gar ons PLAY harks back to the classic 70s Chuck Taylor style but with a high-top collar that snugly hugs the ankles and a black upper, white laces and a white sole and toe cap. The Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70s Hi Comme des Gar ons PLAY Black was released in March of 2019 and retailed for $125.

These shoes look good with anything you wear, and I don’t think they’ll ever go out of style. They come in different colors and styles .This is a collaboration between Converse and Comme des garcons, two very in + popular brands. You can dress these up or just go for a cozy look. Only con to these is they aren’t the most comfortable, if you wear them for a few hours it does start to hurt your toes. Other than that I would definitely purchase another pair in a different color

I have been wearing these multiple times a week for two years now and they have held up longer than most shoes I’ve had. They are more comfortable than traditional converse and feature a much thicker padded sole. They pair with almost anything which makes it hard not to wear these constantly. They are so stylish and I’ve gotten countless compliments of how cute they are when I’m rocking them. I’m planning on buying more colors!

These are the perfect staple shoe! I recently purchased these for my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day as he is a huge sneaker head. He has never had a pair of Converse and has always been more of a Nike guy, but these converted him. He wears this shoe more than any other pair he has and it has become one of his daily favorites. I will say, though, that Converse tend to run large and these are no exception. Just keep that in mind when ordering or you may end up with some clown shoes!

i love these shoes so much. they’ve lasted me about 4 years and counting!! i don’t wear them everyday, but i do wear them pretty often and they’ve held up so well. the laces are super long, but i tie them around my ankles and it’s so cute in my opinion. i always feel like it completes an outfit. i went a full size down and they’re kinda snug so i would do a half size down next time. this style also feels so supportive around the ankles compared to regular converse. totally recommend!
The basics: they’re a little long, I’m an 11.5 and I got a size 11, perfect length. I have a very wide foot and the 11 still fit perfect. The 12 was too roomy and long, it made it difficult to step because it felt like I was going to trip on the length. My wife tried on a pair and she said they either felt too big or too small, so your mileage may vary. When in doubt, Try them on. the quality is insane on these and I’ve gotten compliments everywhere I’ve gone. Yeah a lot of people have them, but a lot of people want to know about them, and I always recommend them. I own about 8 pairs of chucks, half of them being the Chuck Taylor 70’s. These have the comfort of the Chuck Taylor 2’s with the lunarlon insoles, with the styling of the 70s, and they’re honestly just ... MoreThe basics: they’re a little long, I’m an 11.5 and I got a size 11, perfect length. These have the comfort of the Chuck Taylor 2’s with the lunarlon insoles, with the styling of the 70s, and they’re honestly just higher quality than the regular 70s. I have a pair of the 70s in black and white and the canvas and stitching feels better on the CDG pair. I’ve worn them to Disneyland and walked miles in them and they’re very comfortable and get more comfortable with time. At first they were a little narrow but 3 wears in they felt perfectly wide and my toes weren’t pinched or constricted. You can get half sizes elsewhere but honestly your normal size always feels half size too big in these. So I recommend picking a HALF size below your normal size, but TRY THEM ON. if the length feels good then you won’t regret it. Just don’t make the mistake I made when I ordered a whole size down because your feet will ACHE. I’m an 11.5 and I tried a 10.5 and man I was in pain. It hurts so bad to walk in a whole size down. Maybe if you have a narrow narrow foot. But wide feet go half a size down. These shoes are beautiful, they’re the same as the Chuck 70s structurally but they’re just so much better. You won’t regret buying these.
I always purchase Chucks throughout the years. I normally wear size 6.5 to 7 in woman shoes depending how shoe fits whether boots to sneakers every brand run their fit differently. I worked in shoe retail as well distribution company that work with manufacturers overseas. In chucks I wear size 4 mens which is 6 in women. Now normally converse do run in the larger spectrum when it’s sizing as well is unisex shoes. And because I am in between sizes a regular converse classic I wear 4 men’s I purchased this collab item of comme des garçon my usual size but noticed a difference. One, these pair of shoes run narrow in width. In length it’s fine but in width it’s narrow the design was slightly different. One, these pair of shoes run narrow in width. In length it’s fine but in width it’s narrow the design was slightly different. So I was walking in NYC a lot and my feet was aching on side of my toes. No blisters but so much rubbing aches my feet. Highly recommend go one size up because of the narrowness of width. If you have natural narrow feet this you can order normal sizing but if you are like me have regular M width or wide width go one size up. Also, the insole is pretty thicker than an average insole so it’s partial reason of the tight fitting on the shoe. Hope this helped anyone! I wish I had purchased the size 5 men but I will get high tops in size 5 men be more comfortable.
I was nervous ordering this online bec of some reviews that say theirs came with flaws. The pair I received came from Cedar Rapids IA (I think it’s the warehouse) and it’s flawless. I already own the black one so I know my size, which is 8 Women’s (6 Men’s). It’s just a little bit long but they come in whole sizes only, I notice, for sizes below 10. Size 7 Women’s is tight so 8 is my best fit, just slightly narrow. If you’re curious about length of shoe, it’s approx 10.5 inches from tip to heel. Remember, this shoe is unisex so sizing and fit could be a little tricky. I wear 8.5 in Nike, 9 in Sam Edelman Felicia flats (those run small), 8.5 in Tory Burch & 8 Women’s in Adidas Stan Smith. The insole is well-cushioned. Shoe is well-built. It says the printed motif may be damaged and come off with heat and friction and washing in high temp. I’ve never washed my black ones since I’m always careful not to get them dirty and I don’t wear them too often. I think they are special and a novelty, not your regular Converse go-to sneakers, so they need special care. Get them when they’re available because they are limited. You’re gonna love them.
Okay, so most of the reviews say to size down bc the shoes are big. So when I got these delivered I was a little nervous since I chose my typical size (7 w). I’m glad I didn’t size down bc they fit just right, I’d say there’s wiggle room (like less than a finger) and I’m ok with that, tho I did get low tops so idk if the low tops are normal sized and the others are bigger. I find them to be comfortable and I like how they look with my outfits so far. These have become my favorite shoes less than a week in haha. Worth the money in my opinion. oh and for people who don’t know chuck 70s have a removable insole so don’t get scared if it comes out or something. I know I did when I got my first pair :)
My regular shoe size is a 9.5 in women. I read the reviews and people were suggesting getting a full size down because these shoes run huge so that’s what I did. I ordered a 8W/6M and they fit a little snug but not too snug. You might be thinking “that’s a 1.5 size down” and yes it is. I ordered the shoes not knowing my actual size which is a 9.5 in women. I was overthinking about the shoes the whole time ever since I placed my order because I was scared they would be too small. I had to measure my feet and make sure I got the right size and I didn’t. The 1.5 size down is not that bad for me at all. I just think if I break them in they’ll fit way better. I tried the shoes on once with the insole in and once with the insole out (they aren’t glued down) . Without the insole I have way more space. If you’re still scared of getting the 1.5 size down because you wear a half size I don’t suggest this shoe for you. If you do get the 1.5 size down I will suggest taking the insole out and get a thinner one from Amazon or something because the ones in this particular shoe are thick. That’s just me personally so do what u guys think is best. Overall, the shoes are AMAZING and you’ll love them.
I find that unisex clothing and shoes cater more to men’s sizing and fit. These are adorable. But the fit was uncomfortable and weird. I read the reviews thinking they would be helpful with selecting a size. I’m a 5 in men’s shoes. I’m familiar with Chuck Taylors; they run large. I have several pairs in size 6 even tho I’m a size 7. The sole had no bend to it. The overall shoe was stiff and clumsy. I so wanted these to work. They would have been a great addition to my wardrobe.
