I've bought multiple dog beds before and I honestly purchased these because of the discounted price since we have 8 dogs. I read some reviews stating it rips rather easily and I do have to disagree. The large bed has been comfortable for our 120lbs dogs and the medium works for our 80lbs dog. It hasn't ripped over the months we've had them, but they aren't necessarily for excessive chewers. I have one of the beds that only developed a hole (one I bought 2 years ago from this brand) because two of our dogs were gnawing at each other from above and below the bed. Other than that they've remained intact. As for the difficulty people have had putting it together- it's not bad. It's pretty easy if you assemble to 2 L-shapes first instead of doing it like a U. The directions are very basic. You have to be very strong to assemble the last bar. There is no room to move the last bar in place leaving it near impossible to screw in. The mesh keeps everything tight. After a bunch of cursing & screaming and with the help of another person I was able to finish putting it together. Directions say 20 minutes- that’s a joke. Besides the assembly of the bed, the bed is perfect for my dog. I put a blanket on the mesh to make it comfortable for my girl. I like that’s it off the ground. Maggie seems to like it. I would have gave it a higher rating but the assembly it what made it lower.

The instructions to assemble this are pretty simple and straightforward to understand. Actually following them is a different story. Once you've threaded the metal bars through the fabric sleeves, you have to align the crossbars and secure them, all while fighting against the tension of the hammock itself. I am a competent person who has independently assembled tons of furniture pieces and I nearly punched a hole in my wall out of frustration while trying to assemble this thing. What should have been a simple assembly took me near two hours, and ultimately I gave up and just left out some of the washer pieces that were supposed to give extra stability to the crossbars. Once put together, the bed seems totally fine and my dog seems to be enjoying it. However, I don't ... MoreThe instructions to assemble this are pretty simple and straightforward to understand. Maybe there was some crucial step or technique I'm just not understanding... but I really don't think so???

I got this in size large to be an outdoor bed for my 60lb greyhound, who refuses to lay down on any surface that is not padded. She won't lay on this unless I put a blanket on top of it (I guess the fabric is a little rough for her hairless belly), so the "cooling" aspect is probably mostly lost, but she enjoys relaxing on the bed, snoozing or sniffing the wind. Most impressively, I have left it on the deck through 2 northeastern winters and it still looks brand new, no fading, weathering, stretching of the fabric, or chipping of the paint. It's lightweight and easy for me to move around to keep my girl in the shade, but sturdy enough that my 200lb brother was able to sit on it with the dog for a bit and it didn't even creak. I got the large because XL is bigger than me. Large says it is for dogs up to 100#. It seems to sag a good bit with my 75# dog on it. I was going to add a second one for inside the house but my pup isn't that crazy about it. We are in FL and have high 80s weather already, so I put this outside on the patio to help keep him cool. He lays on it once in a while. The mesh on the bed seems to be sturdy, but I hate the frame. There is nothing holding the 2 long sides together except the mesh sling. So when you pick it up by the ends, the frame twists and is unwieldy. This seems very odd to me. I didn't know I'd this is so it can be used on uneven ground or what, but I didn't care for that design. Other than that the mesh bed seems well sewn, but it does give a lot at 3/4 ... MoreI got the large because XL is bigger than me. Large says it is for dogs up to 100#. I really like this bed. It was exactly what I was looking for and I got it on sale for the same cost of the med bed. I gave it 4 stars because it was a little tricky to put together. I bought 4. The 1st one took almost an hour for me to get it together. But after a quick YouTube video I saw how to make the last two holes line up and got it screwed together. The next 3 only took about 10 to 15 mins each. I have 6 dogs. 5 are Dalmatians. They prefer a cooler place to lay. So they would lay on the floor. I hated seeing them on the hard floor. I got these and now they can enjoy the comfy with staying cool. As I stated I got the large because they were onsale and such a great deal. Two of my furkids and easily lay on one of these. Purchased the Large Nutmeg during a promotion for about $23 for my two medium sized dogs to give a try. Their combined weight is around 80lbs (one is 45 and one is 35 approx.) and they fit nicely snuggled up together on it. They love it! Wish I would've done the mix and and match B2G1 deal, but I was initially skeptical about this design.I was so tired of repurchasing dog cushions that can't be properly washed/sanitized as my family struggles with allergies/asthma. Love the hygienic potential of this bed. I see some comments that say the fabric portion deteriorates with time, but I'd rather replace it than constantly re-purchase the more expensive memory foam dog beds. The fabric itself looks just as pictured in the next-to-last product picture and reminds me of ... MorePurchased the Large Nutmeg during a promotion for about $23 for my two medium sized dogs to give a try. My ACD mix actually prefers the cot now over crowding me out of bed, which is a nice relief!Definitely worth the try, especially if you catch it on sale!
I bought the 42" bed for my 50 to 55 lb, 21 to 22" dog. Great price and easy assembly. One thing to note is that the full width of the 42" size is 42," but the actual fabric bed part is only about 36." My dog is probably about the largest that would be super comfy on this size. My dog only uses it if there are a couple of blankets or another (thin) bed on top of it. It may just be a her thing though, as she's never had this type of bed before now (I don't think). I am personally not bothered by that.I have had it for 7 months at the time of this review. It is starting to sag and stretch in the middle a bit (it started only a couple months after purchase). Still totally usable, and my dog doesn't mind. But the fabric or the entire bed will need to be replaced sooner ... MoreI bought the 42" bed for my 50 to 55 lb, 21 to 22" dog. Would last a while if it was used only moderately/lightly, but my dog uses it all the time.
My dogs have always loved their elevated beds, so they have no complaints with these beds. But, there are 2 problems with this bed from a human perspective: First, there seems to be some inconsistency in the manufacturing process. One of the beds I received assembled easily. The second bed had threading problems with the screws and the cover was extremely tight. That second bed had all of the assembly problems listed by the "bad" reviews. It took clamps and vises to get the screw holes lined up because of the overly tight cover, then it took more tools to actually get the screws into the threaded inserts.Second issue is with the fabric itself. Compared to a similar economy-brand bed, this fabric is rough and prone to snags because of the weave style. It feels very plastic-like and stretched more when my dog got into it. My other beds have endured years outside in the elements with only minimal sag and zero snags on the bed cover. This one obviously isn't going to be that durable, although it will probably last a decent amount of time. The cover appears to be a standard size so I'm hoping I can replace it with the other economy brand cover down the road.
I got this for my senior cat, who needs help grooming now, so that she could lay down by the sunny window without being on the carpet. I thought it would help keep her cool and be more hygienic. She has yet to use it, prefers laying in her "best friends by sheri" bed in the sun, or on the carpet, but not on this. However, she uses it as a stair to jump onto the bed.We also foster so I look forward to how other cats respond to it.For parents, I will say that it takes some muscle to put together. At first I thought I was doing it wrong but I wasn't.The first one didn't work at all, but the second one did.You must really pull the mat to reach the holes on the poles, to screw the bolts in.
