Copic markers have definitely stolen my heart as my all time favorite medium and brand of medium. Copics do cost a little more to get started with, BUT unlike other alcohol markers, they are REFILLABLE! So, a Copic Sketch costs 7.99 for a single, and a Copic Ciao costs 5.99 for a single (both retail values). Of course, the price for each goes way down when you buy a larger pack. For beginners, I wholeheartedly recommend getting either the Copic Ciao 72 A or Copic Ciao 72 B set on Amazon, where they will be significantly cheaper. Copic Ciaos are the same exact quality as regular Skecth but, they're skinnier and hold less ink = cheaper! Anyway, to buy the singles at retail value is between 5.99 and 7.99, so let's say 6 and 8. Another comparable marker to the Sketch, in size would be the Prismacolor. Those retail at 6.99. But like most alcohol markers, are not refillable. With a Copic, you would spend the price on the marker, and then the refill at 5.99. That could be between 12 and 14 dollars. BUT each ink refill can refill a Copic Sketch 13 times, and a Copic Ciao a whopping 17 times! So basically, an average of 13 dollars for 14 to 18 markers. Whereas with others, it would be the "lower" start price of 6.99 times 13 for about $91. So yes, Copics cost more to start with, but are wayyy more value to you in the long run. Now, I love Prismacolors and still own some, but the value lies with Copic. I also live for the quality and look of Copics. They are unlike any other alcohol marker out there! But I will say, if they just cost too much for you, then you can start with a Copic Ciao set from Amazon which is way cheaper than retail OR try this other brand called Art n' Fly. They don't have as many colors but still a great collection of around 96 (or a little more), and they are also refillable!!! I recently got their new 12 pack of skin tones and I will say, these are some quality markers. They are actually pretty similar to Copics! Art n' Fly has some quality markers for less, and I love their skin tone 12 pack. So, I would say these are perfect if you aren't sure or aren't able to start off with Copic! I hope this helps!

Of course, the ultimate Marker set. They are amazing. I would make sure that you are interested in doing a very specific type of coloring. If you do a lot of detail work or something like that you may be interested in purchasing their fine liner tips that they have available but that can be kind of difficult to manage with the cost and everything. I do a lot of really fine detailed work where I use a lot of very fine tip pens Sharpies things like that and it is a little bit more difficult to use the copics the way that they're supposed to be used. Maybe is this will give me a chance to Branch out and try some other styles and advancement. But overall they are beautiful they are layered they are everything I was looking for with the exception of the fine liner tip

I really can’t afford a set of Copic markers right now but I did get the flesh tones as I can’t find any other markers that mimic what skin really does look like tone wise. I’m 44 and getting back into drawing, fashion..people, etc. Copic truly are amazing and in this case you do get what you pay for. Settling if you have to fine but if you can get them, get them. I only wish there was one lighter shade for the deeper tones to add to the pack. Overall, love Copic and the variety of shades and mostly performance is amazing.

This is my favorite brand of alcohol based markers, they’re on the pricey side running you $7-$8 a marker, but you get what you pay for. The quality is amazing, the colors show vividly, and the bleeding is minimal (if used correctly).tips on purchasing them.In store• buy them At michaels or Joan’s in bulk when they’re on sale or with coupons.• Check local art storesOnline• shop around a little look at different sites and compare prices **make sure your getting a good deal*• you can take the chance of buying used ones on eBay (sometime people have more than one so they sell their extras)Best sitesD!ckblick.com, price: $5.24 usually $7.99colouryourdesign.$5.25 usually $7.99
I buy Copic markers in 9 tones of grey and use them to plan the values in a quilt, without committing to specific colors. They bring the drafted picture to life. The grey tones work great showing where dark, medium and light tones are needed to articulate the shapes, and create variations. The markers don't stink and still work perfectly even if they've been inactive for 2 years or more.
This is known to be the better of the three copic alcohol markers so I may have placed my expectations too high first off. They're good markers but it all really depends what paper you use them on! Don't forget to consider that 'cause silly me I did! It proves to be a lighter and more of a digital art touch look to it if used on the thick smooth white paper (so it doesn't bleed through very much-> ex: I'm using what's called Pen paper by Pentalic- which is not ideal but just me testing it out- ideally, get the paper pads meant for copic markers). Another paper is the smooth white side of watercolor Canson paper that blends much better in keep the color shade or tint be one color rather than being able to see each and every individual stroke of the marker tip. ... MoreThis is known to be the better of the three copic alcohol markers so I may have placed my expectations too high first off. However, the colors come out looking darker. There's much more to experiment! Good luck with whatever you choose! Also, cool feature of the product is that the darker tip side of the marker indicates the fine tip side.Furthermore, Dickblick has been awesome with shippings. I'm excited to get my stuff pretty fast within only a few days. Also, I ordered 120 of these individual original copic markers and they got all the colors right-luckily without a mix-up so I wouldn't have to bother with returns.
I don’t think that it is fair that people are giving these markers and negative review because of their price . A review should be solely be about the Products function not your ability to pay for it . All that being said , these markers are amazing. They blend very well, and the colors really pop! These are not for every day coloring . These are for artists. As far as the price goes . This is standard price. You can NOT purchase them for cheaper through copic website. They do not sell on the web site. You can find them for cheaper on amazon and a couple other places. However, those are NOT original copic. They are knock off markers and or refurbished . So you can get them for 50% life going that route but I wouldn’t advise that. #sweepstakesThe copic markers work beautifully BUT be aware that the nibs on the copic ORIGINAL markers are not the same as the ones on the copic SKETCH markers. It is hard to tell from the images on the website. The classic markers have a hard fine bullet nib instead of a flexible brush nib like the copic sketch. If you want to do more illustration type work and be able blend colors, you'll want to get the copic sketch markers instead of the original ones just to save yourself the trouble of buying brush nibs to replace the ones on these.Other than that, the colors are vibrant and go on smoothly. I just wish they all came automatically with the brush nib on one end!
Over time I am slowly buying up all the Copic original markers. I also order the available superfine nibs that are not the default versions but can be easily swapped out. I think the Copic colors are great and they have nice diversity. I would quibble that on the whole, they are slightly more translucent and less opaque over all than other brands. But i do enjoy them. They have a slight bleed depending on your paper too, slightly more than other brands. But if you work with them for a while, they are quite enjoyable.
I love the Copic classic markers. I have a lot of different markers but Copic is my favorite markers. Since I have been using Copic classic markers, I have not used the other markers and Have thrown out some of them. Copic are expensive but I wait till they go on sale.
