All about the battery

As an Ultrarunner, it’s all about the battery life for me. I was tired of charging my Garmin mid race on the really long ones. I’ve only been using the Apex Pro for a week, but I’m happy so far. This was the only place I could find it in white and it arrived quickly.

Lightweight, insane battery life, excellent GPS signal. Bonus points for Coros's always friendly and helpful customer service team for questions and support. Athlete-first company that truly cares about making an awesome product.

The COROS Apex 2 is hands down the best watch for your money. Very high end quality at a more affordable price. Does everything you need and more for the all around outdoor athlete. I use it mostly for running and swimming but has the capability to do so much more. The battery life is amazing. I’ve had several Garmin watches and they don’t even compare.

Love it

Loving this watch! It's a huge upgrade from my previous Garmin. Gives so much detail on each run. The nylon band is so light and comfortable. And fits my tiny wrists really well.

Not quite “Perfection”

I respect Coros for their ingenuity given how young their company actually is. They have also continued to impress in terms of battery life performance but even that does come with a caveat. I have tried out the Pace 2 and Vertix 2. The Pace 2’s tiny digital wheel was a pain to deal with, Vertix 2 seemed like it came out too early and underdeveloped in the hopes of competing with their main competitor. Let’s just say their name rhymes with Charmin. :) their features seemed like just taking what’s already been done and trying to make it somewhat their own but not very well. I was underwhelmed by the Multiband GPS in the Vertix 2 and was underwhelmed this go around too. I never tried the Apex Pro but was always curious. WithThis update I had to try this time. I was underwhelmed by the Multiband GPS in the Vertix 2 and was underwhelmed this go around too. I never tried the Apex Pro but was always curious. WithThis update I had to try this time. I had planned on putting it up against my Fenix 7X for at least a month but it wasn’t even 3 days before I was done comparing. Kudos to Coros for a decent update to the apex Pro, however that’s where the kudos stop. Every part of the Watch software and overall user experience wise seems like it’s a good 2-3 years behind the times and their competition, and lacks refinement. I wasn’t a fan of the Digital Crown, it wasn’t as annoying to deal with the tiny one on the Pace 2 but it was still very meh. The graphics, fonts and layouts of the data were all just a tad off, colors on the Heart Rate gauge were very washed out and dull, and the available watch faces were lacking. I will say that it doesn’t matter if you have Multiband GPS on your device if that doesn’t equate to great performance and accuracy. This is where this one lands. The GPS tracks were decent, but not amazing, and overly sloppy on several areas. It did not have any wow, that’s really accurate element to it at all. The all systems on was overshooting distances I know what they were, and I didn’t even try just the gps only. The battery life claims only hold up if you keep the HR settings to take a reading once every 10 seconds instead of real time, and if you use only the all systems or gps only settings. The “ECG” test which they are now JUST referring to as HRV is gimmicky, and not very useful, especially since you have to remember to do the test every day instead of it measuring it while you sleep and then giving you some helpful feedback regarding the value. The barometric Altimeter was terrible at tracking floors claimed. I climbed my stairs several times and it never registered any flights climbed. Conversely I wore it to work all on one level the next day and somehow managed to climb 4 flights of stairs. The step counter was also short by quite a bit. The map experience isn’t half as “robust” as they claim. Calling it that is almost laughable. Not having road names or trail names or turn by turn directions makes it ONLY useful to get your bearings just a little better than breadcrumb navigation but not by much. Also, being confined to adding MP3’s to the device to listen to is a sign of how dated the tech is. Who still loads MP3 files onto CD’s or anything for that matter via a cable hookup to your computer anymore?? The slogan “Explore Perfection” is a prime example of overpromising and under delivering. Putting it on the bands in bold font is pretty tacky. They should change it to “Explore Striving” because it’s a FAR cry from perfection All in all, if you’ve only experienced the Coros ecosystem and have nothing to compare it to, other than the previous Apex Pro then it’ll serve you well as a good update. It’s lightweight and comfortable and still has very good battery life. However it simply could not compete with my Fenix 7X on virtually any level. I feel this experiment has put the final nail in the coffin for me as far as which brand to stick with. It made me realize that jumping ship and into the Coros brand would be taking sadly several steps backwards, not forwards.

Perfect for Running
17 May 2022

I have tried Garmin and Coros and this is by far my favorite. The watch has a nice design and amazing battery life. I also like the Coros phone app better than the Garmin phone app.
