As long as I don't slack on nurturing my skin in the following days, I don't have any major flaking or irritation but in the beginning I did feel a little drier and tighter than usual. I'm experiencing some purging now that I'm using the product more frequently but it's pretty minimal compared to what I've had from other products and it feels like it clears quickly. These symptoms are all indicators of the product working properly to increase cell turnover, so I can't be too mad about it. I think that really pampering my skin on non retinol days has helped a lot. I like to use hydrocolloid patches on the purge-induced acne spots when I'm at home to speed up the process, to keep myself from touching the area and to help my skin heal in the event that it happens to burst.If you're new to retinol and want to try this product, my tips are to pace yourself, baby your skin on non retinol days, use sunscreen every day and store your retinol oil in the refrigerator. I always apply 40 minutes or more before laying my head on the pillow to avoid oil stains on my bedding. Neither of these things will deter me from purchasing this. It will become a staple in my skincare regimen.

I have been using it about 3 nights per week and I believe it has helped with fading dark spots caused by cystic acne (I never had acne other than very minor blackheads until I turned 30 last November-then suddenly I started struggling with breakouts and some mild cystic acne). It has also helped with some new fine lines I have started to notice lately. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the smell; I absolutely hate it! I can tough it out and use the product anyway, but the smell is just terrible! So to people sensitive to scents I would say be cautious about this product because it stinks! But other than that, it’s a great retinol oil & I would recommend it! Plus, it’s a good value for the price based on the prices I’ve seen for this product online. I’ll most likely buy it once I run out of this bottle. Also, don’t forget to use sunscreen!

I had read that retinol can be drying, so I made sure to mix the oil (which has squalene, and Vitamin E) with a fragrance free moisturizer to prevent excessive dryness. I have naturally oily skin, so this may factor in as well.Despite it being an oil, I found the product to be lightweight and it absorbed fast into my skin. It left no residue, no oil slick, no scent. After opening, I stored the bottle in the refrigerator as suggested. Additionally I made sure to apply my SPF because although it is winter where I am and I am not getting much direct sunlight, I do want to avoid a sunburn.On New Year’s Eve I opted to not do foundation or any powders as I normally would to go out with friends because I found the improved firmness and evenness of complexion to be such that I didn’t want a full face of mask-up! I feel like even my pores appear tighter which is something I’ve always struggled with. This product is recommended for individuals who have previously introduced retinol into their routine, however it is not to say that you can’t use this product if you’ve never used retinol, you will just need to Keep your routine simple, pay attention to how your skin is responding and using the proper aftercare like sunscreen& a good moisturizer to help protect the results. Build up tolerance slow and steady. Mixing it with your fave moisturizer is another great way to introduce this product into your routine.On bare skin this oil absorbs in under 15 minutes and gives instant results noticing a natural sheen with moisture bounce back on my dry skin. Like all retinol products only time will tell for the full results/benefits to take place and be considerably noticeable, I used this retinol oil 3x/wk in place of my prescription retinol product. My dry skin reacted really well to using this product as a standalone after cleansing, I was worried it wasn’t going to have enough moisture but alas squalene and vitamin E came through. I had some slight peeling around my nose, a day or two following application, but it was not a dry flaky peel It was more of a soft peel, and in my opinion, my skin turning over as opposed to being irritated by the product. I counteracted this by just doing the slugging method around my nose using Aquaphor or Vaseline. I enjoyed this product , it soaks in fast and leaves a nice illuminating sheen to my skin and not once did I have a greasy feeling from the point of contact to when it was fully soaked into my skin. I can’t wait to finish this bottle and check out the full results, so far I am impressed as this has given my prescription retinol something to worry about. The price point $27 is amazing for what you get with this product, it has luxury written all over it from the beautiful packaging to the ingredients its comprised of. For reference I pay about $100 for my prescription retinol.I would recommend this product for all skin types but especially those looking for a multi beneficial anti-aging product. Oily/Acne-Prone skin types need not worry when using this product like I said previously the oil dries very fast meaning you want to think of it more like a dry oil in the sense that it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy and with the added squalane it will help control oil and heal acne.

I used this for about 4 weeks before writing this review, and overall I heckin love it and plan on continuing to use it and repurchase. It doesn't interact negatively with my skincare routine, and oh my goodness is my skin SO SOFT after using it, especially the morning after.I wasn't sure if it had any positive visual effects at first, but listen - I have a makeup instagram and post photos of myself. I'm also insecure about my skin texture, so I have always lightly blurred this in photos. But I haven't been blurring at all! Zero! And I don't use any sort of high coverage foundation products - just tinted moisturizer products. I'm so happy with my skin, which is not something I'm usually able to say.
