The quality of the Kiwi trousers has dropped off. Thinner lighter fabrics, more plasticy feel, and seem stitches that just don't handle the demands of the outdoor enthusiast anymore and just fail (especially in the crotch area). Crappy tiny zips that are hard to grasp with "man size" fingers. My last few pairs have lasted less than a year. Cheaply made garments. Switched away to Brasher men's walking trousers - similar features Much Much better fabric. Just awaiting a little time to see how they fare wear wise.

I haven't tested these in the field yet, so I can only comment on the fit and make. They look like a well-made pair of pants, just what I would expect from Craghoppers, but the fit is baggy. They even had a tag on them that said "relaxed fit", although this was not stated on the website. I typically wear a 36 waist, 31 inseam in pants. It's hard to find odd number sizes, so I was delighted to see that the inseam was listed as 31 inches. However, when I tried on the pants the cuffs puddled over the tops of my boots. I checked with a tape measure and the inseam is in fact 31 inches, so there must be extra length in the seat for the pants to hang so low. I'm getting the cuffs hemmed up now, but the extra cost will wipe out the savings from buying them on sale.

These are to replace an old pair that were over 15 years old and had had a lot of use on the fells, travelling and at home. These trousers are great for walking - light but wind-proof material that is double thickness on the knees and bottom. The design and stitching seem good and are very comfortable. They don't get wet too quickly but once wet, they also dry out quickly.I like wearing them at home and around town as well, as they are well-cut and the numerous pockets are deep enough to mean I can easily carry a wallet, mobile and keys etc in comfort. For all these reasons they are also great for travel, also being lightweight and not bulky, so they take very little room in your luggage.I also like the unobtrusive colour.Would happily recommend these.

The fit is loose and comfortable and the material is durable. I bought these to replace a pair I bought several years ago. The old pair are still in very good shape--they did not wear out. I replaced them because I lost about 15 pounds (yay!) so they no longer fit. The pants have eight pockets. Five with zippers for security. The only complaint I have is that the front pockets are too shallow to be useful. Stuff falls out when I sit down. Each of these two pockets has a zippered pocket behind it so I always use them instead. This nuisance was not serious enough to penalize the pants a star.
😳 I couldn’t believe my luck ! I have worn Crag Kiwi’s for the last 🤔 30 years 😀 and as normal I was sent an e-mail saying look what we’ve got! Normally trawling through the Kiwi classics, there’s plenty of them with 5 or 6 colour choices but , never in 44reg, or normally ( for the last 5 years) I’ve got them in Bark 🤷♀️ only … it drives the wife mad me wearing my 5 pairs of ‘Bark’ classics. This week 🤩 I couldn’t believe my eyes ALL 6 Colours in 44reg 😎 I’ve ordered 2 pair off the stick end & if they’re still there next week another couple of pairs. Well done Craghopper for listening to my monthly rants!
This is a review with a difference. During the summer I have acquired an Ileostomy which has meant that I have had to take stock of my wardrobe to accommodate the changes.I have found that the relaxed cut of the Craghoppers Kiwi Classics in a size larger than usual has proved to be the ideal solution. The waistband is then high enough and the fit is loose enough to accommodate the extra volume required. The flexibility of the fabric belt is also a useful feature for someone with an ostomy.
I have been buying/wearing these trousers for a long time. Comfortable, classic fit - loose and with plenty of material. They wash easily and dry quickly, important when out walking in hot/humid weather when it is advantageous to have a material that dries quickly. Total of 9 pockets including 5 zipped. Hang wet and drip dry; no ironing required. Considering how thin the material is and how lightweight these trousers are, they last well as I give them a lot of abuse. Easy to reproof as well; water and insects. Mine get a hard life!! Do I recommend them? Oh yes!
I have been wearing Craghoppers trousers for many years. They are very lightweight and wash easily and then dry in no time. The four hip pockets are fairly deep with one on each side having a zipper fastener. The right thigh pocket is in fact two pockets; one seals by the use of Velcro and the other has a zip which effectively opens a secure pocket in a way that if seated, the contents won't fall out. The zipper is at the top, earlier versions being at the bottom (everything fell out). Also, you can get the thermal winter version which has a thin lining but somehow manages to keep the wind and cold out without being bulky. These trousers will fit anyone from 5'6" to 6'4" with no problems. The waist is part elasticated to allow expansion when eating/drinking. If ... If required the trousers can be waterproofed by washing with an additive or by spraying with an aerosol. If out walking and you get caught in rain, they dry very quickly. Sometimes a belt is supplied depending on where or from whom you buy then from. Expect to pay up to 50 in some shops and around 25 - 30 on eBay. All in all, I believe that these trousers are a first class product. Personally, I would like a pocket such as is fitted to the right hand trouser leg also fitted to the left hand side. I do tend to carry quite alot of gear when out walking in addition to the rucksack.
My size: 5'10", 185 lbs.Pant size: LargeLegs run a little long as in cover all the back of the heel and top of shoe, unless you hitch the waist up and tighten it around the higher part of your hip bones. Was outside walking (so in movement, not at a standstill--this is important), wearing a Craghoppers rain jacket rated at 10,000mm. To give you an idea how the pants and the jacket compare: The jacket inside was perfectly dry, the pants from the lower thighs down to the shins got completely drenched and water accumulated on the inside after just 10 min walking in the downpour. So you would need to wear Patagonia's TorrentShell (rated 25,000mm) pants on top of these to stay dry in anything but light rain, especially if standing still for 5 mins or more. When not raining, and with Summer temps above 25C, the pants are way too hot. So if it rains in Summer, and it's hot, and of course now very humid, you are gonna prefer wearing shorts and be wet. This means the pants are ok for Spring or Fall in light or medium rain assuming you treated them before with some Nikwax.Only one multi compartment leg pocket system. If you put a fat wallet in there, plus tissues or pens or a nebulizer, the pocket will get tight real fast and it will feel weird when you lift your leg on account of the tightness, so not roomy like military cargo pants.Side pockets are open, with secondary hidden pockets on both sides closed by a zipper. Back pockets are also closed by zippers.Unlike military cargos, the fabric dries faster and doesn't get wet as fast either, and is lighter.
I bought my first pairs of “Craggies” from a well known pile ‘em high, sell ‘em cheap, outlet without really knowing much about them 10 or 12 years ago. They are just so universal in their function, be it around town, around the house garden or around the yard and horses. I find them super comfortable to wear with more pockets than you could ever wish for. You don’t over heat in the summer nor do you freeze in the winter. If you do get caught in the wet, they dry reasonably quickly. They are easy to care for and they seem to last for ever. I’m really pleased to have been able to identify them as Kiwi’s and replace those that have finally worn out. If you are lightly built, you might find ‘em a bit too baggy but I really like the unrestricted movement they afford.
