The Crankbrothers Mallet clip-in shoe plays nice on the race track and at the bike park. Our innovative Match System optimizes engagement for any MTB clip-in system whether that’s Crankbrothers or SPD. It comes with Match shim and Crankbrothers cleat pre-installed in a neutral position so they are ready to ride with Crankbrothers pedals right out of the box. Match Box The ramped cleat box offers easy front and rear pedal entry and mud shedding. A Race Zone setback on the cleat track allows the cleat to be positioned further toward the heel for added control and stability when descending. Match Compound Our mid-friction rubber compound (MC1) allows for easy pedal entry and exit and is hard enough to hold up to wear and tear. The radial lug pattern around the cleat box is designed to provide smooth release from the pedal body. Match Outsole The tread pattern is designed for traction off the bike. Directionally angled and spaced toe and heel lugs offer traction for hiking up or down steep terrain. The ramped toe provides walkability on steep terrain.

Finally a shoe made specifically for CrankBrothers pedals! These are a really comfortable and functional mountain clipless shoe! CrankBrothers knocked it out of the park with these ones. I’m using them with the Candy 1 pedal and the figment and pedal engagement is perfect. The Velcro strap and speed lace helps dial in the perfect fit. These shoes are better than any other shoe that I have used with CrankBrothers pedals! My only recommendation is that CrankBrothers develop a multi-directional cleat that allows you to pull up and out of the pedal rather than just side-to-side exit, but that isn’t a knock on the shoe.

Tired some (size 46's = my normal) on in a shop a few months ago that were a little too small for my liking - but they didn't have any bigger.Super happy to see the 47 available here - and they are perfect. Very comfortable as well! The toggle lace tightens down snugly without having ,to really work it like on some other brands that have thicker laces. The velco strap also gives extra tightness and isnt just just show. The durability of the thin lace maybe a concern later but will worry about that then - if ever.Great service from BikeInn as well

For everyday riding & training these shoes are perfect. They are a bit heavy for racing but a solid cross training shoe.It took a few rides to break them in, until then I had a slight pain on the outside bottom of my feet. Took about 5 rides and that went away. The trails I typically ride are very rocky and in the first couple months have taken quite the beating. I'm very happy overall with the fit and how they are holding up.The waterproofing is also nice. I've used these mostly in the fall/winter thus far but see them being quite warm in the summer. I'll probably use an old religious pair (holy) if I'm doing anything then but that's mostly because my feet sweat more than most.

Crank brother mallet speed lace shoe is all business. Great power transfer to the pedals under wet and dry conditions. Well designed cleat access makes pedal engagement easy. Grippy rubber soles hold fantastic on the bike and provide adequate traction on the trail when you hike it. Fit is true to size. Crankbrothers rocks!
I purchased these a few days ago, and took the on a few rides. I like the sturdiness of the shoe, I noticed a big improvement with my pedaling efficiency as compared to my flat pedal shoes. A while back, I was trying on clipless shoes and had a fall going up the 4inch lip on my backyard patio. Lol! That was the end of my clipless adventure. After buying my new bike, I decided to give it another go at clipless pedals. I threw on my candy 1’s and put on my new shoes that came with clip cleats preinstalled. This time, I didn’t fall on that same spot in my backyard. So I went on a few rides and they are a welcome addition to my progression as a clip less rider. The cleat bay helped me insert the pedal clamp with ease. It was much easier than what had expected, I also installed the shoe protector plate under the cleat and that made it even easier to get secured. I’m excited for what’s ahead. I use to road bike with clips, but there is a huge difference in mounting and dismounting, especially when your on a side of a cliff with a steep drop off and all your buddies decide to suddenly stop and take in the views. Lol
The shoes are exactly what I was looking for after retiring older Specialized shoes - that had seen many years and miles. That wasn't why I moved to these, though. The reason for the move was to have shoes I could easiy use with or without being clipped in. These fill that bill! The sole has good bite on the pedal teeth allowing for instantaneous release in gnarly rocks or jumps, yet remains easy to clip into! I could also mention that they are easy and supportive to move around on hills in (who mountain bikes on flat ground?).These seem well made and I'm expecting many years of using these! If you wear thick socks, size up of course.
Look no further, these kicks are top-of-the-line!I upgraded my shoes from another big competitor of Crankbrothers and I must say that I am SO happy I went with the Mallet Laces! The other clipless shoes I had provided a toe box too small for my foot, so I found I would lose feeling in my feet on a ride greater than 10 miles, not ideal! I've taken my CrankBros out for multiple rides since receiving them and can say, that numb feet are behind me!Also, they are way more stylish than my previous shoes. All around I am beyond excited with this purchase and highly recommend CrankBros. Customer Service was top tier and shipping was pleasantly quick! Thank you all!
Been riding Mallet pedals since the first ones came out. Bought the shoes at Sea Otter 2021 and they quickly became my favorite shoes. They have excellent ankle support for a low cut shoe, have a stout toe box that takes a beating. Engagement with the Mallet pedals is as advertised. They engage better than other shoes I run with my Crank Brothers pedals on all my bikes. True fit as well a size 9 is a size 9.
I had to return these because they are a poor fit, far too narrow and designed for a flat foot and ankles are very exposed. I assumed from the pictures that these would be very similar in shape to the 510 freeriders but with a cleat, they are a bit different than that and do have the typical bulge under the ball of foot area similar to most other shoes with cleats, meaning they're really not that walkable either. I'd say the footbed is similar to other shoes I've tried, rather flat and not conforming to the shape of my foot. The best shoes with cleats so far have always been from Specialized, my favorite flats are 510 freeriders from a few years ago. I returned these and never tried clipping in with them, just wore them in the house a few times.
Great shoe. Clips in very easily. Secure.I bought them to replace some aging Keen bike shoes that were also good for destination walking. These are better on the bike, a bit less good for the destination. For general cycling and short walking around they've become my go-to shoe (only wish I'd bought a more subtle color; those blue laces really pop!)I have a feeling with some adjustment they'll fit the bill.
