Purchased a lightly used set of mallet shoes and mated them to an existing pair of Mallet pedals. Instant pleasure! The shoes feel comfy, firm, and clipless engagement feels secure. No issues on longer rides and foot fatigue. I'm sold!

For everyday riding & training these shoes are perfect. They are a bit heavy for racing but a solid cross training shoe.It took a few rides to break them in, until then I had a slight pain on the outside bottom of my feet. Took about 5 rides and that went away. The trails I typically ride are very rocky and in the first couple months have taken quite the beating. I'm very happy overall with the fit and how they are holding up.The waterproofing is also nice. I've used these mostly in the fall/winter thus far but see them being quite warm in the summer. I'll probably use an old religious pair (holy) if I'm doing anything then but that's mostly because my feet sweat more than most.

I've had the Mallet shoe from Crankbrothers and this "E" (Enduro) version seems to be an improvement regarding sole reinforcement and shape (I hope this time the sole doesn't end up separating from the shoe). So far, so good. But the sizing is still too off; as previously I had to get one full size a bigger shoe (I'm a 10 and bought a 11) and this time I did the same and it even feels a bit tighter (so perhaps 1.5 sizes smaller than stated?).

I have been wearing the Mallet E BOA and picked these up for a backup pair, plus wanted to test out the speed lace system. First off, crankbrother shoes are amazingly comfortable. Second, they just work so well on and off the bike. Third, they are durable! The speed lace works great and I love having a second option. I have over 3K miles on my Mallet E BOAs with a solid mix of back country, enduro and gravel. All other shoes have been sidelined, they just don't compete. Don't hesitate, just give them a try. One word of caution, I wear a 10.5, but need an 11 with Crankbrothers. Otherwise, they are perfect!
I’ve had multiple shoes from Five Ten and Ride Concepts, and these shoes are superior. The fit is great, especially the heel area that is slightly softer with a rubberized grip that is oddly effective. Very overall supportive feel that has a nice power transfer. The uppers are protective with side vent panels that ventilate well. Sole has a narrower profile than my RC Tallacs, but I was pleasantly surprised with the traction the sole provides on the trail. Lacing system is quick and easy and for someone who has a high instep, these are the easiest shoes to get into. Get a pair, they are great
Hate the heavy bulky feel of them. The platform is also not flat which makes them hard to clip. I feel super high up wearing these, like it’s leaning me forward too much. Also they are ridiculously hard to hike uphill in. You’d think with such a thick shoe the cleat wouldn’t stick out so much, but they make it really hard to walk in. Additionally the cleat tracks don’t go far enough back in my opinion. For this style of riding it’s better to have the pedal almost mid foot. These remind me more of a XC shoe except super bulky. Probably switching to chamber II’s hopefully they will feel better.
So far so good. The shoes match really well with the pedals. The cleats came installed, which was a nice treat. They are comfortable to walk in while still providing a powerful pedaling platform. I have less than 10 rides on them at this point. I am happy with the purchase and they has paired very well with the e Mallet pedals.
First time buying Crank Bros shoes, but highly recommended by both my husband and son. Bought khaki colour in size 40. Normally am 39/39.5 but fit is fine, quite snug, considering I have narrow feet. Really nice lacing, Velcro system and super comfy to ride. Love them!
I had to return these because they are a poor fit, far too narrow and designed for a flat foot and ankles are very exposed. I assumed from the pictures that these would be very similar in shape to the 510 freeriders but with a cleat, they are a bit different than that and do have the typical bulge under the ball of foot area similar to most other shoes with cleats, meaning they're really not that walkable either. I'd say the footbed is similar to other shoes I've tried, rather flat and not conforming to the shape of my foot. The best shoes with cleats so far have always been from Specialized, my favorite flats are 510 freeriders from a few years ago. I returned these and never tried clipping in with them, just wore them in the house a few times.
Two rides with these shoes and I wish I'd pulled the trigger on buying them a long time ago! They interface perfectly with the Mallet DH pedals perfectly, out of the box. I'd been trying to make some RC clip shoes work with the CB pedals, but going to CB shoes was a night and day difference (makes sense I suppose). The shoes are extremely comfortable; snug around the foot, but a nice toebox with room to wiggle the toes. They clip in and out smoothly and mindlessly. The speed laces seem great. So far my favourite pair of MTB shoes to date.
