At first, I couldn’t get it to turn on, ā˜ŗļø but, that’s because I had the feeder tube too full for the metal spine on the back of the pusher to completely engage the safety feature. The biggest drawback I see is the way the safety feature on the lid is designed. The safety mechanism is sort of open but at the same time closed if that makes any sense. It’s open enough for stuff to get in there and closed enough for you to have a hard time getting food particles out. You may want to just check and be sure that there’s no food particles On the metal safety spine on the food pusher that you’ll push down into the safety channel on the lid. Otherwise, you will play the game of rinsing and turning it upside down and swishing it/ flipping while holding the white thingy open until you can get the food particle to come out of it. There may be a trick to this I haven’t figured out yet. So far, I really like this processor, And, the prices for extra attachments on the Cuisinart website are very, very competitive with free shipping.

A true workhorse

After owning the more expensive Elite model for years I am returning to the Custom Cuisinart. I owned one prior to my Elite and find it the superior of the two. If you don’t need all the extra discs and mini bowl, then save the drawer space and get the Custom. Even the more powerful motor is unnecessary unless you really use it everyday for long periods. Also I found I preferred the feed tube at the back - it’s so much easier to assess the contents of the bowl; I was forever taking the Elite lid off to do so. The bowl and attachments clean up easily in the dishwasher or the sink.I don’t understand other comments about how hard the lid and bowl is to attach, it’s quite simple if properly aligned. Beautiful and Performed Well!

I looked a so many reviews, good and bad, for both this particular Cuisinart food processor, as well as other Cuisinart models, and many other brands’ processors. What already had experience with was a Cuisinart food processor I received as a gift in 1983. It was STILL working fine after 40 years of use. Never had any issues other than the lid having the piece that locks it into place crack off, which required a replacement lid. That was about. 20 years ago. However, I moved to a new house with a beautifully updated kitchen, in a whole new state, and desired a shiny new processor to go with all that newness. I could not even guess how many batches I made with the old one. I read all the things this baby can do, and since I am now retired, I may try some other things! I made my first batch of hot salsa last week with the new model and MAN did it ever out perform the old one! The chopped pieces of tomato , jalepeno, and onion were so uniform, and took less pulses to get there! And my new processor looked beautiful while working !!!!

Great, but bad design change from previous model
3 July 2024

I have owned one of the earlier models of the 14-cup food processors for about 15 years, until most of the plastic parts began to wear out and crack, and the blades began to dull. The lack of replacement parts for a model that old made getting a new one necessary now, even though the motor still works perfectly. The new one I recently bought is just as well made as the original one, and I'm very happy with the performance, however, the one complaint I have is with the design. The chute on the older model was located conveniently right in front of you, just above the switches, so both of hands were logically closest to you, so you could use the switches with one hand while pouring or pushing things thru the chute. Now, the new model has the chute located on the opposite end of the food processor, so you have to reach across the unit with your working hand to push things or pour liquids thru the chute. This makes absolutely no sense (to me) whatsoever, and needlessly complicates the basic tasks with this model. Unfortunately, I probably won't have a need to buy a new one for another 15 years since this is so well made, but please change the design back to the way it used to be.

Love this new toy!
15 March 2024

This is my second Cuisinart food processor and I love it just as much or more than the first one that I owned. The first one (10 cups), lasted 25 years and was still going strong except for a plastic piece that's part of the catch and lock mechanism broke off, after years of use and getting washed in the dishwasher, which made it difficult to operate. Having had so much trust on the Cuisinart name and my experience with a few other small Cuisinart appliances, I wouldn't have replaced the old one with any other brand. I am so happy with this new purchase. The motor runs smoothly. It chops the vegetable evenly and grinds nuts and grains quickly without pulverizing them. It takes only seconds to grate carrots or zucchinis. This product is solid and strong. I have owned several Cuisinart food processors and this is built more like my original 1980’s model. I paid more, the top price, but it is more heavy duty. I had my first product for more than 2o years. Since then I have owned 4 or 5. They do much more with the adjustable slicing mode and nice container to keep blades in but they break, made of plastic and the motors go out. So I bought this one though it was the most expensive model on their site I feel it doesn’t live up to expectations. No adjustable blade no French fry cutter more basic than I’ve had in years. For the price they need to update the design.I’m planning on using this product for many years. This is a solid, reliable machine. A few years ago, I bought a different Cuisinart 14-cup food processor with more attachments. It was largely made of plastic and stopped working properly after 2 years (I had to hold the pusher down for it to run). It died about a month ago, so I began my search to replace it. At first, I had no interest in buying the same brand. I was looking at a more expensive machine from a French manufacturer, but review after review form trusted sources kept saying this specific Cuisinart Custom 14-Cup Food Processor is the way to go. It's heavy and seems sturdy with a stainless steel exterior. Using it has reminded me how a food processor should work. The previous model never worked this well even when it was new.
