No salt, no crushed ice to deal with… We ended up getting these for family gifts, and they are delighted with the non-messy, spontaneous way you can throw together delicious treats in no time! There are tons of recipes at cuisinart.com (and elsewhere online). My youngest and her hubs used root beer as the only ingredient, to make slushies! Recipes are as elaborate (custard-based) or simple (three ingredients) as you want to make them. It has also makes it possible to churn out :-) small-batch specialties for keto grandkids, dairy- and nut-sensitive fam members, etc. True, the batches are only half gallon, but the ice cream is better if it is stored a while anyway. There needs to be a silicone "wiper" added to this piece which would keep so much of the mixture from freezing to the inside and bottom of the freezer bowl. Four years ago, we moved from a mid-Atlantic state where mom and pop homemade ice cream shops were plentiful, to coastal Georgia, where at least six months of the year the weather is brutally hot and surprisingly, there are very few places to get a cone or dish of ice cream. We miss going out for ice cream terribly. Our kids came to the rescue and surprised me with a Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker for Mothers Day! I have made fresh strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream, and, (of course!)Georgia Peach Ice Cream. They are all wonderful!! The ice cream maker is easy to use, also. Actually works! It's hard to believe the motor is only 50W, but it works because it's on the bottom of the machine, not the top, and it turns the bowl, not the paddle, the way it should be! I've only had it a few days, but have already used it twice to make two vegan recipes, and it does great work! The liquid freezing to the sides is normal. Also, it doesn't matter how much or little saturated fat is in the liquid you put in, it churns out smooth, creamy frozen dessert regardless. Turn it on first before pouring in the liquid, then leave it on until the batch is done.Improvements needed:1. Flip top lid to cover the center hole, to keep out house flies and keep in the cold air.2. Either redesign the freezer bucket so the frozen dessert can be stored in it ... MoreActually works! Turn it on first before pouring in the liquid, then leave it on until the batch is done.Improvements needed:1. Flip top lid to cover the center hole, to keep out house flies and keep in the cold air.2. Either redesign the freezer bucket so the frozen dessert can be stored in it while it's in the freezer, or ship this with an insulated 2 quart frozen dessert container that nests inside the freezer bucket.3. Have a high temperature capacity silicone outside wall and lip for the freezer bucket. The metal can go underneath it. This will keep hands safe when handling the frozen bucket.4. Include 100% dairy free and 100% egg free recipes. Call only for parve/pareve ingredients and brands. Also, try to stick with FairTrade, EqualExchange, or Rainforest Alliance (or equivalent) certified brands/titles.5. The motor has a very strong chemical odor at first, and it still has a high pitched grinding noise. This needs fixing and I'm tempted to send it in for repair or replacement. Also, it doesn't shut off when the batches are done, and that's a feature that's been around in ice cream machines for decades now. It needs to have that added. It shouldn't wait until it's ready to over heat before shutting off.6. This machine needs an ergonomic-handled silicone spatula shaped for getting the frozen dessert out of the bucket, unless the bucket is redesigned to store the frozen dessert. In that case, a 100% stainless steel (not painted fake "steel" ice cream scoop (no moving parts), with an ergonomic silicone handle, needs to be included with the machine.7. This only needs to churn for 20 minutes. It could easily use a high quality rechargeable battery (that won't explode), since it's only 50W. The only justification I can see for having a power cord is if the machine includes a compressor, which could go on the bottom of the machine, rather than in the back, like most of them are made today.8. This machine needs a dough paddle attachment and a whipping attachment (with 3 free-spinning whisks). It could also use a chopping blade attachment and a slicing attachment with a top-feeding chute that's just off-center. Do that and I'll have no reason to keep my old Oster Regency Kitchen Center. Put a compressor with the option to heat and not only cool, with the ability to program for all these things, and I can also get rid of my bread maker. Add options for slow cooking, and you'll replace everyone's slow cookers.

Great Ice Cream Maker

I was a little hesitant about buying this because it doesn't have a compressor, but it is awesome! I keep the cylinder in the freezer in a large plastic bag to keep it clean, then just take it out when I want to just it. It is VERY cold & stays that way long after the ice cream is made. Most recipes suggest using the ice cream maker for 25 minutes to complete the ice cream making process. It has consistently taken less time than that to ffreeze the ice cream. On caveat, it cannot process a full recipe. The ice cream expands as it freezes & ends up spilling over into the base if you try to freeze the whole recipe at once. One huge bonus caused by this is that a smaller amount of ice cream mix freezes faster & you get your ice cream faster. You can enjoy your ice ... MoreI was a little hesitant about buying this because it doesn't have a compressor, but it is awesome! The frozen canister stays plenty cold to complete the second batch of ice cream. I just scoop the remainder of the first half recipe into a storage container, and then proceed with the second half. It's great and I've used the ice cream maker many, many times. I just love it!

After a lot of personal research to find the right ice cream maker for my needs, I settled on this Cuisinart 2 Quart maker. The machine does make noise, but it's not unbearable or super loud. The bowl froze solid in my deep chest freezer and I might have been able to make a second batch immediately following my first batch. Their included recipes are helpful and look delicious. The machine was easy to use and the clean up has been easy. I'm excited to make many future batches of ice cream with this maker!

Home-made Ice Cream Made Easy!
20 September 2022

My husband purchased this for me for my birthday. I used it for the first time to make homemade peach ice cream for Labor Day. I followed the recipe in the provided booklet and what had always seemed like an overwhelming task (when I was younger, we used a hand crank ice cream maker) was made easy-peasy! Once all the ingredients were poured in, after 25 minutes, it was time to eat! Granted, most of the ice cream was soft-serve/creamy, not frozen, but I had the opportunity to freeze it for 2 hours before serving. If you don't, the taste is still delicious. Even my 94-year old mother thought it was delicious and she's very particular about her home-made ice cream!!

Product great but support lacking. I found upon opening unit a screw hole in the base. It looked unfunished and i thought it qould lend itself to moisture getting to the motor and ruin it over time so decided to call and i asked foe someone that jad the service manual or spec drawing to tell me if it was intentional or should there be a plug or something. I love this ice cream maker. It is so easy for a first time ice cream maker to make ice cream. I used a couple recipes from the internet to make the ice cream. I like the ability to play around with different flavorings and controlling the strength of flavor and the amount of any additions to the mixture. Other than having to make sure the tub is frozen when the mood strikes , the Cuisinart ice cream maker is quick, easy, and convenient to use. Next up—just found a recipe for honey lavender ice cream. Gonna give it a try.
