The Star wheel cuts the grass by a scissor action, it is attached to a cushioned wheel that moves along path while the star wheel trims the lawn edges. This is more suited to the finer and shorter grasses. It comes with a tubular steel handle and plastic grip.

I bought this yesterday and on the first few rolls, the wheel went off track, it hit the concrete path, and the Y bracket bent. I'm not exactly a hulk she-man, so there was very little force applied to damage the tool :(

Great tool. Low noise value and gives a perfect cut grass edge to concrete or timber edging. Light pressure and cuts well. Anyone who has trouble using this tool doesn't understand how to operate it correctly. My 80 year old mother uses it easily.

Bought one of these a couple of days ago and while they are fairly hard work as my edges have not been done properly for months, by doing a few feet each day , the results are very good. Certainly less expensive than the power edgers but as long as you don't mind a little hard work they are good value.

Purchased 5 months ago and used only on my home lawn once a week. The material these new edgers are made of is soft and useless, definitely not the material of former edgers. It’s totally worn out and won’t do the job it was purchased to do. It’s rubbish.
This is the worse garden tool I have used. I had to go over the same patch of grass multiple times and still it wouldn't cut through all of the grass and I had to rip quite a big amount up by hand. The wheel kept going off track. Would not recommend.
Just not very good at all. As other reviews mention it doesn’t cut very well and the Y shaped bracket that holds the cutting wheel in place is really weak and bends while trying use the tool as it’s designed. Good example of cheap quality...”they don’t make them like they used to!”
Very cheap quality literally bent after first use. Have to throw it away. What a waste of money
A good, solid, well constructed item that's easy to use. Even a vegan could use it. Fair price, honest product that will provide years of service. Recommended.
Was quite impressed with how well this works and enjoyed both the workout using it and result. Nature strip hadn't been edged in a long time, and this got the job done nicely. A telescopic handle would be a nice feature, as I'm over 6 foot tall and needed to bend a little, but I'm used to things not suiting me perfectly!
i have always used the standard cyclone star edger although does a good job i found it goes off track easily. a year or two back i purchase the deluxe version wider wheel and is excellent never gone of track and easier to use , but it appears not to be available anymore
