I'm always a little afraid to try out a new piece of fishing gear. In the past, I always associated Daiwa with "CHEAPLY MADE". I read some reviews, and thought I'd take a chance since this was on sale. I purchased the REV2500H. When it arrived, I immediately took it out of the box, and tested it. EXCELLENT. Smooth reeling, smooth bail, lightweight. I kept going back to it and testing it out. I decided that I liked it so much, I bought another one just like it. It paired well with my 7' light action spinning rod. Give it a shot. I know we all have differing opinions on gear, and you may be used to 200 dollar reels. I don't need to spend that much to be satisfied with a product. This reel will last me many years.

I was a little skeptical at first since I have been using Shimano Sienna reels in the 500 size and this is a 1000 size but after using the reel I have to tell you it is a very solidly built and smooth feeling reel. Is it worth 10 bucks more? Only time will tell. The bail is solid, the drag is smooth. The only concern could the amount of line storage. If you have a tendency to break the line, get bird nets or hook into a large fish that could 'spool' you, you might be in trouble but that is the kind of trouble you like, a big fish. But you could lose line and cause a negative impact on casting distance.I have owned a couple of Daiwa's' in the past, cheaper and older models and have not been overly impressed but this reel changes my opinion in a good way. Maybe I got a bad one
9 August 2022

This reel felt great out of the box. I fished a pond with it and got a smaller walleye, so far so good. Took it bluegill fishing the next day. At no point did it touch the ground during these fishing trips and yet it started making a grinding noise when I reeled in line and the issue has only gotten worse. Massive Bummer. I wanted a reel that would last more than 2 fishing trips

I knocked over the reel that was attached to my 7ft rod which was only about the length of the rod's butt section. It had line attached to it. I thought no big deal done this plenty of times, but was completely surprised when the lip of the spool was smashed in. I couldn't believe it I had to get my needle nose pliers to reshape the lip and file it down. It's working ok now, but it's not the same. I know it was my fault, but when you're out fishing it's not uncommon to knock a rod to the ground. I think the (pre) Daiwa designs were more durable as far as the spools and rotors are concerned. I know the (lt) has a better a drag, but I think it's overkill and doesn't cast as well compared to previous models. Overall it's okay but what do expect for the money? You can't get too much quality at this price point and all manufacturer's are cutting corners. So if your going to buy one of these reels don't ever drop it.

I know all favorable reviews include the phrase, "smooth " But this reel really is extremely smooth. The bail pick up is very easy and "smooth". The drag works great with a above average retrieve speed. In addition, there is a noticeable ease and casting performance even with lighter weights. Jigs, top water lures, crank baits , rubber baits, or casting casting a baited hook with a light sinker in The Allegheny river, this reel warrants serious consideration from you if you are in the market for a great reel that doesnt break your bank.
