Great rod but reel was rubbish, handle bent on me first time I used it as I was reeling in a large snapper & the reel would also make a weird noise as you wind it in then go away after a few turns but would return after the next cast

This combo is an absolute steal for $100, if only I'd bought it 2 weeks later and got the same deal with the bonus Daiwa shirt for the same money... Oh well... Got that deal for my Father in law for a birthday present, so all good. Bought this to chase some kingfish and have since caught over 20 of them with easily half a dozen or so going 95cm. It has also brought 2x 5ft bronze whaler sharks up from 40 metres with no issues on the prespooled line n 100lb leader. Has been smashed and drenched in saltwater and been on some big days, some over 12hours of fishing!!! Only ever rinsed with fresh water at end of day and air dried, haven't even needed to lube yet, smooth as silk. Great combo for the price. The rod allows for quite a long casting distance but is still responsive enough to feel every bite. The reel is smooth and I have had no problems being in medium sized carp with it.
Great price, and seems to be good quality.Bought two 6" and one 5"6, used a few times and can't fault them.Ditch mono, get some braid. The mono that comes with the reel tangles a lot, and doesn't cast far or well.
I think Daiwa is taking over the market , the reels both egg beater and baitcaster over head are truly great reels..The combo I bought was for someone else and they rate it , a good all rounder..
First trip out fought a 1.5m gummy shark with the 561 model, no worries. Impressive rod for the price and perfect boat rod for bigger fish. Cheap quality combo
Very disappointed with the quality of the line that was attached to the reel. It snapped in my hands when I was tying on a lure. I discarded about two meters of line and attached a lure that was lost as I was trolling as the line broke again. I troll with a kayak so I was not travelling to fast.
We bought the rod and reel combo's specifically for a fun trip we had planned.They were easy to set up and my son had a fish on before I had my line in the water...Naturally I caught up quickly, but actually the rods were pretty responsive, and the reels were very smooth and reliable. I was worried they wouldn't be that good, but they absolutely did the job. A great starter combo for estuary fishing.
I bought this combo to chase a few river stingrays but have since realised what a weapon this thing is and have started using it out on the big ole' blue. So far I have snagged a PB flatty of just under 3m. Only got a 2.8 the dog.
