A smartly priced reel that can match the performance of many more expensive models. The Carbon Light Material Housing was designed with the LT concept of light but tough, in mind. The carbon-based material is light yet very strong making the reel easy to manage over the long haul. A machined aluminum handle is a comfortable, strong connection to the main gear of the spinning reel. The Air Rotor and Air Bail designs reduce the weight, yet efficiently disperse the pressure of the line over the bail to the whole part. Purchased this a few months ago now. Paired it up with 6lb jbraid and a td hyper v2 1-2kg. This thing as an absolute dream to use, you can't beat it at the price point. I even ended up getting the 3000 and 6000 after this I love it so much. My only complaint is the knob but that's what you get on these lower end reels, I ended up putting a gomexus knob and it's just stepped it up that extra level. Highly recommend!

This reel is just about is good as my many Daiwa Fuego spinning reels. The only differences are that it’s a slower ratio and it has one less bearing. Despite these differences I am very pleased with my reel and look forward to many years of its use.

I own four of these reels. They have all the bells and whistles of much higher priced reels and some performance features that many of the higher end models don’t have. Super smooth drag and perfectly even spooling this reel performs. Lightweight yet powerful with some of the fastest retrieves available in the spinning reel market. Don’t be misled by the price. This reel is a fish catcher.

I replaced a Pfluegar Supreme 1000 reel that died after approximately 75 total hours of use...this is my panfish outfit used mostly in early spring in fresh water fishing. Very light, smooth reel, cast like a dream with XL Trielene 6# mono. Like the way the drag sounds with fish pulling line. Nice drag, no sticking spots, very predictable when adjusting the drag. For an economical reel it performs like a much higher priced reel...great bang for your dollar!
This is a great little reel for throwing small lures and baits at bream, whiting and flathead in the rivers. It balances nicely on most rods in the 1-4kg weight range, and has a louder-than-usual drag that sounds impressive when a fish goes on a run. The spool is quite deep on this model, so if you want to use braid, make sure it’s filled with plenty of light mono backing underneath. The spool depth makes it a great reel for light fluorocarbon lines of around 4-6lb- perfect for most bread and butter species.
I personally would rank this reel with the Shimano Symetre ($100)and Shimano Saros ($150) spinning reels, in which, I have both. I got the Exceler 2500D-XH. This reel feels very smooth and fluid. Before I continue w/ the review, the (4) plastic washers are for shimming the spool. Install (2) of them before putting on the line. That way the line will be level on the spool, not thick on one end / thin on the other. Before I bought this reel, I looked at the reviews on other websites. Even though I didn't buy my reel from Midway, I thought that I would contribute an honest opinion for someone considering buying the reel here.
Super smooth drag and great line pickup. This is my go to spinning reel from Daiwa. I think it’s just as smooth as the Tetula. Great purchase and dependable without breaking e bank. Academy gets it to you really quick. Ordered in a Sunday afternoon on my doorstep Tuesday with REGULAR shipping.
Video on my YouTube channel:4 ways of lifeOverall it’s a good reel. Doesn’t feel like plastic, like other modes from Daiwa. I love it because it’s super small and perfect for light rod. I use it on a 1-3 kg rod, but I’m sure it would be good on a bigger one as well.
This is the best spinning I have ever felt in my life. The drag is insanely smooth, everything feels tight (no loose parts), and overall it's an amazing reel. Even the 2500 easily handled a 33 inch northern pike I caught on it yesterday, which shows you how tough the reel is. It's great for everything from panfish and trout, to pike and bass. It's a steal at $75. It would even be a great deal at $200.
I bought this reel thinking it would be okay for breeam/flathead/whiting ect and would use it with lures only. Took it out 3 times washed it very well with a light mist/sprinkle and after the third use it ggot all grindy and could hear bearings crunching. I think it was just a faulty reel? But it is fairly light and has a good bail arm and drag, but I would recommend buying a more expensive Daiwa reel eg caldia, black ect
