I needed new braid for my baitcaster and chose this one to save money. Should have bought the x8 which wasn’t all that more expensive because I found it to overrun easily. It has a memory which contributed to the problem. I soaked it in fabric conditioner which seems to help quite a bit.

The line casts nice and further than others. Good visibility and strong enough to land a nice brown trout on the Niagara River. And lastly is budget line compared to others as much as half price.

Don't get it twisted, overall, Daiwa generally makes good products. J-Braid X4 AIN'T one of 'em. One of the things that the braid I usually use, has conditioned me to expect, is a lot less birds nest than monofilament. J-Braid fails miserably in this area. Don't get it twisted does not apply in the case of J-Braid. Twisting and bird nesting seems to be its greatest characteristic. Compared to what I usually, use this stuff was more like sewing thread than fishing line. I could not WAIT to get this stuff off my reel! Daiwa couldn't give me a FREE lifetime supply of this junk, unless it was to tie up the trash. It gets incredibly twisted!

Bought the 6LB test for my 2000SS sized reel, super shallow spool so wanted something that can fill the spool without too much backing. The x4 line breaks much less and is more abrasion resistant than my sufix nanobraid at the same caliber. It has great color, the fluorescent yellow is extremely tracing in all conditions. Softness and castability are not hampered at a line so thin as well. So I'd say this is a top pick for ultralight applications.
I purchased x2 of this product just under 2 weeks ago and finally put it to use this past weekend(24/4) Jacobs Well.I spooled 3/4 of the line of 1 reel onto a new reel i also purchased. Now we all know we win some we lose some.My line snapped as i got a Flattie to the jetty. It happens...the one that got away. But for my line to snap 3 times that morning fishing? I still have a quarter spool, and a full spool i havent used yet.Considering this product isnt the cheapest and i purchased x2 Im not impressed at all!!!!
I purchased this item on sale as "cheap" backing for "kelp cutting" bass reel. (It was less expensive to buy this whole spool rhan having my reel spooled at a tackle shop). The first day we took this reel out to catch fish to make fish tacos. I hooked a Thresher! Very happy to say. after a 20+ minute fight we had enough protein to feed several families fish tacos. The line performed flawlessly helping me land a 70 pound fish on bass gear!
While I use several brand of braid, Daiwa J-Braid is my go-to line for King salmon fishing. It is the only line I absolutely trust when battling these fish in fast moving water, and I can always find it listed roughly 25-30% cheaper than equivalent Power Pro. Whether 4X or 8X, it is strong, durable, and casts well on both spinning and casting reels. All of my King salmon reels are loaded with J-Braid.
Spooled up my snapper reel with 20lb 4X to give it a try. I am a great fan of the j-braid 8X so wanted to see what the budget line is like.My impression is that it is thin, strong and supple... just a little stiffer than the 8X.Take this as a positive or negative: its NOISY!! Having used smooth quiet lines for a while I enjoyed the adrenaline pumping shreek shreek shreeking of a metre long snapper bolting toward the reef... similar sound to the old TD Sensor. This particular snapper drilled me in the reef but the j-braid 4X passed the abrasion test, Its strong. Conclusion: its not "cheap", its just different.
rubbish's constant wind knots and random brakeage from casting used withan Ian miller special 7,2 rod2500 stratic reel6 lbs FC flurocarbon leaderits unusable unless you make the most gentle casts at half the the normal cast distanceno top of that the local bcf i bought it from refused a return because it was off the spooli had used itits hard to know its garbage if i dont use it
