I have used several different rated versions of this line and I have put it to heavy abuse in fresh- and saltwater. You cannot go wrong with the price in relation to the performance of this line. I prefer the multi-coloured version because you will always have a colour nuance that contrasts well against the background and hence increases line control.
Best braid you can buy in my opinion. Silky smoth, strong, great price. Filled my mq 18k perfectly.
Excellent line, easy casting and surprisingly resistant to abrasion, although not to barracuda teeth. A pleasure to use in tropical waters.
Got this braid to go with a new reel. Love how soft it is and great when pulling in fish. Used it for haddockfishing in the northeast with 16 oz jigs .. absolutely no issues, very smooth. I'm going to re-spool some ofmy other reels with it .. so I'll be buying more!
Transitioned to Daiwa J-Braid 8 as the primary line spooled in my reels. Much smoother than PP and much softer than 832. My experience with all of the mid-cost braids is that the stated diameter is slightly less than actual diameter. For example, after spooling up with J-Braid 20lbs, the stated .23 mm diameter appears to be more like .26mm on the batch I spooled. Also, after some use, I notice a very slight increase in diameter to top portion of line. But for the price and utility of the multicolor I can’t complain. The price makes re-spooling more affordable. The multicolor helps with location of structure to minimize snags, location of drop offs, and where fish are holding. I just wish the multicolor was available in the smaller sizes.
Good line for what the price is. Especially deep dropping beyond 180 ft. Have alot of new people on the boat? Easy line to know where everyone is at and i know if the newbie is close to the boat or still down with the color change.
I spooled my Truth sg with the 40lb J-Braid and couldn't be happier. I've never been a big fan of braids only because of the feel and noise usually produced when realing in line. J-braid has a smooth feel and isn't load. I have 99% of my saltwater reels backed with some brand of braid (power pro, stren, sufix, spider wire, etc) only because I can use "lighter" weight rods and reels and still have enough line for hard fighting fish. J-braid is by far the best I've used and for the price it can't be beat. In the future this will be the only braid I'll be buying. Also the color options are perfect... white, dark green, chartreuse, line-counter.
