Bought two 2500s for cheap bay and lake reels. These are MUCH heavier than I anticipated. They fish fine so far. Dont cast as far as my similar setups. Drag is kinda so-so with a bigger bass or a slot red but the click helps you find a spot and it's got plenty of power. Anti reverse worked as did the switch. Minimal twisting. I don't anticipate much more than three years of life. Hard to tuck line into plastic holder on spool. Great for a cheap reel. Spool worked for fused line and mono, looks good for braid too.

I've been using the mid-sized version for about 6 weeks now. It's basic, and it shows, but it seems to mostly do what it's supposed to do, which makes it a great value for the price. The construction is solid, and I've landed a couple of 4-lb range largemouth with no problems.I was having some early issues with line slippage (using 8 lb monofilament), which has been remedied by using some line conditioner on the spool. The same problem could happen with any spinning rig, but I'd never had issues like it with an older, more expensive Daiwa I used for years and lost in the course of life. I suspect that the lip of the spool is narrower on newer models (seems about the same on other reels I examined prior to purchase). There was one anomaly the other day where, and ... MoreI've been using the mid-sized version for about 6 weeks now. Unless I see this happen again, I'm marking it down as user error.Otherwise, I'd recommend this for anyone on a tight budget, or anyone who wants a "starter" spinning rig to practice on before moving to a reel with more features.

This is to replace one in a rod I lost due to a speedboat snagging my line. It is great. Solid and cheap enough I dont have to worry too much about it. Not the smoothest retrieve but more than adequate for panfish, perch, spot, even fish a bit bigger.

I bought the 2500 Series version of this to use as on my beater trout rod set-up. For $9.99 (on sale) it's a decent reel. Hat's off to Daiwa for putting extra emphasis in ensuring that all their reels are butter smooth. I own several Daiwa spinning reels in various price ranges from $10 to $500. They're all buttery smooth.Otherwise there's nothing really special about the Strikeforce. Has your regular features. Drag, anti-reverse, automatic bail clutch, etc. I recently bought a 2500 series Sweepfire (on level above the strikeforce) also for $10 (on sale). You can immediate tell the difference in material quality.Current set-up on this reel is:- spooled with 6lb Berkely Trilene Braid ($2 on clearance)- matched to a Daiwa Spincast 5ft 6" ultralight travel rod ... MoreI bought the 2500 Series version of this to use as on my beater trout rod set-up. I used a size 1000 for creek wading on an ultralight. Overall, it did a good job with plenty of use for about a year, and landed some fish far above its pay grade. However, it did start to have some issues after a little less than a year of use. On occasion, the line would not lay correctly and would get caught up under the spool, and soon after the bail spring broke. If you need a reel to take a beating, I would say you get about what you pay for with $15 here.
I own 2 of these reels, a 1000 and a 2500. I recently got back into fishing freshwater having fished saltwater for all of my life. I bought the 2500 size as a cheap replacement for a 30 year old Zebco and paired it with a cheap Shakespeare rod. Having good results with the 2500, I later bought a 1000 size for a panfish rig (paired with a much better rod).In both cases, I wanted inexpensive "learning gear" to expirement with before laying out the cash for better equipment. And that's what, in my opinion, this line is good for. It's a good first reel or good for experimental purposes. This will certainly not be last reel you'll ever buy, but after months of use I can recommend it as a good "first reel" choice.
I picked this one up to make an inexpensive combo for my wife. 2500 model. Casts farther than my other reels and runs smooth and silent. She pulled in 3 slab crappies and it didn't miss a beat. There isn't a stop on the dime auto reverse, but it doesn't have much play at all, maybe an 1/8 inch before it stops solid. Metal spool and parts for 15 bucks. No other reel in this price range has this quality. Well worth the money.
This reel was bought to replace a cheap plastic reel on a telescoping rod. After mounting and trying the retrieve the handle wood become loose and flop around. Tried to tighten the handle then could barely turn for retrieve. What an Edsel. It now resides at the dump. For the price of the reel and the distance to Dicks this was the best option.
I mainly fish live bait, but recently a buddy of mine showed a place where you can wade the flats and we caught a fair amount of fish throwing crank baits and gotcha plugs. I brought along my smallest setups which were 4000 series reels, which I thought were light because my bigger stuff are 8000 series. After 100+ casts and 15-20 hookups, my long ago injured shoulder (torn labrum) was killing me. The only way I was going to continue this casting stuff was with a lightweight setup, and even then I was doubtful. Rather than dump 200.00 into a lightweight reel that might not solve the problem, I decided inexpensive and light were the two things I needed. My more expensive Daiwa spinners never twist braid like many cheap, wanna be reels do, so at 6.8 ounces, this was ... MoreI mainly fish live bait, but recently a buddy of mine showed a place where you can wade the flats and we caught a fair amount of fish throwing crank baits and gotcha plugs. Rather than dump 200.00 into a lightweight reel that might not solve the problem, I decided inexpensive and light were the two things I needed. My more expensive Daiwa spinners never twist braid like many cheap, wanna be reels do, so at 6.8 ounces, this was the gamble. Loaded it with 20lb test power pro, and fitted it with a nice fast action rod from my extensive arsenal. Casting was a breeze, no annoying bail snap, and the bail clicks over with ease when you want it to close. Retrieve is very good, not 150.00 smooth, but very acceptable. I landed 6 Ladyfish over 21", and the anti reverse allowed a solid hook set. It's not as instant as high end stuff, but pretty close, and very workable. The drag worked great, found the spot I needed easily, and it was quite smooth. My only complaint was that the handle nut came a bit loose twice. This could be related to braided line, and a solid graphite rod that would send significant feedback from the Ladyfish that jump and try shaking the hook like a largemouth bass. I'm not sure how well it will hold up being used twice a week in saltwater conditions, but I rinse and lube my gear, and I'm pretty sure this reel is gonna stick around a while.
While being a low end reel, this is a great product. Granted, you have to use it wisely and not overdo it.I put this on a Daiwa 7’ rod and have caught catfish up to 8 lbs. and pulled in turtles up to 10 pounds using 10 lb. test trilene.
