The smaller lighter size makes it perfect for deep dropping, trolling or even near shore reef fishing. The reel can be powered with a conventional battery or the super handy lithium battery pack. Someone commented that they couldn't get a battery for it but I found several sources for them online and locally. I am truly grateful to have an opportunity to fish the reefs again thanks to this reel.

I bought this a bought 11 years age. I have have used it to kite fish & deep drop. I went on the Yankee Capts out of Stock island, Fl Pulley Ridge trip. I used 50 LB braid. The reel did great it was a little bit slower bringing up the 4 LBS weight than the 1000 Tanacom's all around me on the boat. I liked the smaller reel and it is a little lighter. Same thing with the kits just a little slower. If weight and size is not an issue go with the Tanacom 1000.

I haven’t actually used mine since I received it it but a friend of mine has one which I got a chance to see it in action. It’s an awesome reel. Very powerful. If you’re dropping to the bottom you have to have one of these. It makes bottom fishing fun and not so much like work. It only comes with a cable to connect it to the boat battery. You have to buy a battery and power cable for the battery separate. This is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars.

This reel is one of the best that falls in the mid range. Their is a heap of cheaper reels that only hold a max of 400 to 500m of braid that cost between $NZ600 and $NZ700 then there is a huge jump to the big boy reels that hold the 1000 plus meters but cost $NZ 1600 to $NZ2000. This is only one of a couple of reels that fills the niche between, holds 750 to 800m and costs less than $NZ1000. It is lightweight with strong design and great tech. Has all bells and whistles like auto stop and jigging but I love the fact you can program the exact amount if line spooled on reel no matter what type of braid or diameter is used. This gives an accurate line count readout. The reel is smooth in operation and one can feel the ball bearings working smooth in this reel. I did one deep drop trip out of Point Pleasant without an electric reel. For two days i regretted not having an electric reel since we were fishing in 750" of water with 4lbs of lead. Great trip and immediately afterwards I purchased this reel and used it for several years now and it has been flawless. I use small AGM batteries for power and get about a full days of use on a deep drop trip. Note after about 3 years of hard use on deep drop trips I did need to open up the reel and service the the reel due to salt intrusion (i expected this from all the salt spray the reel got over the years). It was not any harder to service than a non electric conventional reel.
These reels make fishing for bottom fish really deep a breeze. Easy to operate and just the right size to handle easily. Have yet to see how durable but have seen a few that have caught many fish and they are still going strong. Tackle Direct got my order and shipped across the country all within a few days. Very satisfied!

The reel is everything I wanted; small, light, powerfull and great capacity. The plastic housing needsbto be treated gently. Mine arrived cracked but was replaced.
We used to think electric reels took the fun and experience out of catching the fish. But after reeling up time after time from 300+ feet with or without fish we decided electric was the way to go. These Tanacom 750's are great reels. They pulled our halibut up quickly and saved our arms! We will be adding 2 more to our boat.
