Awesome Flat Pedal Shoe

First thing I noticed about these shoes when I first put them on is how comfortable they are. They are probably the most comfortable bike riding shoes I’ve ever owned. They are firm and supportive without being overly stiff.Second thing I noticed was how tacky the rubber is. There was no break in period as these shoes grip pedals from day one. I’ve bought shoes from pretty much all the main companies who make flat pedal MTB shoes and these are easily at the top of this list for grip and comfort. I’ve only had them for a few weeks now so time will tell how long they last, but at this point I am certain that I will be buying another pair once these are worn out.

I?ve worn from 5 ten to vans with flat shoes all the time. Before getting the shoes the 5 ten were the better option but once the Dakines arrived everything looked good right out of the box. As for comfort I?ve never wore anything like it, just the perfect amount of room not too narrow and not too roomy. The sole is so perfect. I?m riding the crank brothers stamp 7 large pedals and the grip is incredibly amazing. At times the pins stick to the sole so good you?ve to apply a tiny bit of force to get the foot off. After 30 miles I haven?t had any slip off and the sole is still in perfect conditions. Solid enough to pedal and soft enough for hike a bike sections specially here in the rocky Arizona Desert. You won?t regret buying these shoes, they?re the perfect shoes ... MoreI?ve worn from 5 ten to vans with flat shoes all the time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Came from a pair of Sam Hill five tens and decided to give these a try instead of purchasing another pair of five tens.To date I have been very impressed - toe box is comfortable, the dakine sole is very sticky (was my main concern), and the tongue flap (can stuff laces into the flap) is also a really cool feature. The final positive is the the overall shoe weight feels like half as heavy as the five tens . . . granted they are far less beefy than the Sam Hill’s.Overall I give these a B+ . . . Like any new product I anticipate that they will only get better in later revs - but overall a great out of the gate MTB shoe - I highly recommend them if you are looking for a light weight, comparable, and durable shoe paralleling five tens.

Great show for the price
17 June 2023

These are great shoes specially for the price. Sticky sole works great with my def trap pedals. The fit is specious and I have a little trouble with my foot sliding to the front on long descents but otherwise great shoes. The laces pocket is great.

Great show so far.

I don't have much to compare it too. I have some adidas shoes that did not have the same stiff bottom that these have and it is a world of difference. I feel far more planted in the pedals than with my previous shoes or in skate shoes. Been on 10 rides about now and they show very little wear (I'm about 250lbs).I did not know that the tongue of the shoe has a storage area for the laces until ride 3 or so. I guess that I just missed that feature when reading about them.

Light weight, grippy, and comfortable
7 July 2022

I’ve always ridden FiveTen shoes, but these looked pretty good, so I figured I’d try them out. They’ve only been on a few rides now, but so far so good! The sole is stiff and grippy and the shoe is light and comfortable. The material seems a bit thinner than my FiveTens, so my only possible concern is durability, but time will have to tell. All in all, I’m happy with this shoe!

Loved these shoes until.....
5 October 2023

I bought these about 5-6 weeks ago and loved them at first. Super stiff (in a good way) and stick to the pedals like glue. Was really happy with my purchase! But after just 4 uses, they are literally splitting at the seams (see pictures attached). I got them on sale luckily, but for a shoe that retails at $140 I would have expected these to at least a full season of hard riding, not 4 rides. I would give 1 star, but I really like the shoes! I am hoping it's just a manufacturing defect and Dakine can get me some new ones covered under warranty. But be wary purchasing...I may have just been unlucky, but who knows.

Runs a half size small - very good shoe, otherwise!
12 August 2023

It took two tries, but I finally got the right size. I had to go up half a size for room in the toe box, but they fit like a dream now. They are very comfortable off the bike, and very grippy on the pedals. For the money, you can't go wrong. Added perk is the lace pouch. Good stuff.

Very poorly designed product
27 October 2021

I purchased the Dakine Drift women's mountain bike shoes. I used the shoes twice, only riding around the streets by my house. During the second use, the lace eyelet on one side broke. The shoes only have reinforced eyelets on one side and the other side is simply stitched in. Extremely poor design that is guaranteed to fail. I am really disappointed in the product.

Will buy these again.
2 November 2022

Great shoes. Comfortable. The soles are plenty grippy on the pedals. They are really nice when you have to walk/hike the bike . They don't slip. The pouch for the laces is good. Tongue could be a little thicker, but still adequate. I like them better than my five ten pros.
