Nose wipe thumb panel to wipe away snotsicles Removable wrist leash for when you need it Winter 2022/23 product Equipped With GORE-TEX GORE-TEX is an extremely thin membrane that’s durably waterproof, windproof, and breathable. It has over 9 billion pores per square inch that are each 20,000 times smaller than a water drop, but 700 times larger than water vapor. This means that rain won’t get through the membrane, but that perspiration vapor can escape. Different iterations of this basic membrane principle are used in a variety of products throughout the outdoor industry.

The inner glove is comfortable and easy to slip on. I like that I can still operate my phone with them on. They've already started to pill so a little disappointed with them. The outer mitt is warm and resists moisture well. I find it a bit snug to slip on the mitt with the inner glove on. Overall happy with the mitt but could use some small adjustments.

SUPER versatile mittens. Dakine always seems to pack in all the features at a great price and the titan mitts are no different. Mitten -- Check. Inner glove liner with touch sensitive pads -- Check. Goggle wipe -- Check. Nose Wipe -- Check. Cinch-able long cuff -- Check. I literally can't think of a feature other mittens have that this doesn't.My only complaint is that they don't seem to be quite warm enough for the coldest days. I find myself needing to blow into my hands when the temps drop below 15. I'll probably just keep some hand warms that I can toss into ... oh yeah a top pocket in the mitten for smaller items -- Check.

These check all the boxes for me from the description, but the performance lacked. The biggest flaw was that they are not waterproof. Being an east coast skier the weather changes often and I find myself in rain, these unfortunately did not withstand more then an hr before I found my hands getting damp even with the liners. The second biggest flaw is the dexterity. The thumb feels tighter for some reason and is hard to even grip my poles. I sent back the first pair I got and sized up which helped a little but it was still stiff.Other then those two gripes I love everything about them: Back pockets for warmers/pass, liners are awesome and touch screen capable (however the liners pile really quickly) Goggle Lens wiper, soft fabric for wiping nose, wrist straps etc ... MoreThese check all the boxes for me from the description, but the performance lacked. Dakine mitts are basically disposable in my mind, but this pair (my first leather palmed ones of about 5 titans in the past 6-8 years) was particulary disappointing. On day one, the cuff cinch, a bit of leather at the end of the elastic strap, seperated. So I had to tie it in a knot to make it work. Functional enough fix but after only like 3 pulls, I was miffed. I buy these mitts because they're gore-tex and have a squeegee on the thumb, which I need for the Mt. Hood winters in the wet PNW. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't bother. I also like the nose wipe, general design, and mid-weight warmth. So I'll keep buying them. On sale. Because they're throw-aways. I have a whole tupperware full of random L/Rs from the survivors of all the pairs that never last more then ... MoreDakine mitts are basically disposable in my mind, but this pair (my first leather palmed ones of about 5 titans in the past 6-8 years) was particulary disappointing. I bought these to replace the same ones I lost last season, assuming they were left in a lodge somewhere. I've been using these for a long time, along with same model in the glove version. Extra warmth with the mittens as expected. The liners are great, and I rarely use them as the mittens and gloves are very warm on their own, but when it's that cold to need the liners my hands have never been unhappy, and I'm the one who never lets the cold keep me from a mountain trip to ride so they've covered me in the depth of winter from Vermont to Colorado. They also hold up structurally well over time, especially relative to their price. I eventually get some wear from intentional hand-drags but it takes a few seasons (weekend warrior style) - to put it in perspective, I've ... MoreI bought these to replace the same ones I lost last season, assuming they were left in a lodge somewhere. I eventually get some wear from intentional hand-drags but it takes a few seasons (weekend warrior style) - to put it in perspective, I've replaced one pair of gloves over the course of 15 years and the second pair is still going strong; my original mittens were at least 5 years in and had virtually no wear when I lost them. Good and affordable product, as I generally find with Dakine.#sweepstakes (trying to win some Evo dollars, no effect on the review)
Got these mittens because my fingers were COLD in my regular gloves on stormy ski days. It's an adjustment to start using mittens and not have individual fingers, but I think these ones are great. I still wear glove liners on cold days, but they keep warm. The cinching mechanism on the wrist keeps it tight. My only complaint that knocks off a star is that the wrist straps that come with it are kind of flimsy, the tightener sometimes slips and the string is reeeally long. Also, I usually wear a M/L gloves in women's sizes, I got an S in this and it fits
It's running 0-5C now here in Toronto and my hands are fine but I wouldn't say they are toasty. But I'm starting to think my fingers are actually icicles so idk.The leather is not capacitive, if that's why you are considering this version but did not read the description too well. The index and thumb of the liner gloves are. So you have to remove the mitten to use it. Can be tightened around the wrists but doing it with a mittened hand is cumbersome. The small pocket on the outside mitten is great but I wish it was a bit larger. The leashes are a bit awkward to keep on since they are long. You have to stuff it inside the glove or they'll be swinging around, taking care to place the bead such that it isn't uncomfortable. But not really a big deal.
I ordered these mostly for the gore-tex shell to wear over a heavy pair of wool mittens. The gore shell —with a leather palm— is nice.I bought them on sale for slightly more than a non-leather palmed shell would have cost if you can find one. Not sure why shell mitts have mostly disappeared. I don't particularly care about them being waterproof, but a completely wind cover over ??? makes all the difference sometimes. Leather palm is grippy and remains flexible when it's cold. Grippy synthetic palms, though probably preferable in wet, get stiff in the cold. Living in Winnipeg, when it is cold, water tends to be solid and not much of a concern. The inner mitts and liner gloves I'd say are so so. For me they were bonus. The liners a typical cheap liners. The inner mitts are probably reasonably warm...Although I will endorse a layered (liner, insulation, shell) mitt system. As a system these mitts make no sense. They include a fleece liner and a mitt with a fleece lining. Almost impossible to put one over the other. The mitts are a gauntlet length meaning they need to go over the sleeve of whatever jacket you are wearing. The inner mitt has a cuff far too tight to go over any jacket of similar warmth.I'll keep them for the shells. I may use the inner mitt, wearing it under the cuff of a jacket on their own. Although I will often wear a 3 layered system, I'll never wear these 3 layers together. The shells are still nice, but not worth the regular price of these mitts.
These seem like good quality but even the XXL is TIGHT on my thumbs! I think they'll be cold as a result of the tight fit. That's why I gave them only 2 stars. Haven't worn them for XC skiing yet so can only review based on try on at home.Very disappointing that the cut of the thumbs and the materials used makes them tight!I bought these specifically for a winter trip to Yellowstone NP where temps may drop to -30 F; tight mittens are not going to work well!If you're going to make a XXL then the entire mitten needs to truly be large enough!NOT good design thinking! This is my first experience buying Dakine; NOT favorably impressed.
I had a great pair of Dakine mitts for years and lost one of them. None of the mitts of today compare. Unfortunately even these new ones I just bought dont either. I live in Canada and love the extreme sport of kite skiing. I require a really warm mitt because I move up to 80 kph on skis for hours. The old mitt was a simple, not too thick mitt with a leather palm and a mitt (not a glove) inside. This is critical. All the big fat thinsulate mitts you buy today are disgusting when you take them off and put them on. For days after use they are damp inside. The inner mitt solves this, but unfortunately this new mitt I just bought has a glove not a mitt inside. Everybody knows a glove is not as warm as a mitt. And unfortunately the glove doesnt really fit inside the mitt. The thumb especially is too tight which will significantly reduce the time it takes to get cold, and its just not that comfortable. Dakine if you ever decide to look back in your history books and make that old mitt again, put me down for two pairs immediately.
