I would love a pair of these to work in and another pair to wear while out and about. This summer will be a test of their comfort, but I have heard of people wearing these year-round to work, hike, and wear casually. I'm giving them 5 stars because of the reasons mentioned above at a reasonable price.

Customer service was great in fitting this boot over the phone. It is comparable in fit to the Acadia, so when I put them on, I knew they were going to fit perfectly. I went two weeks before using their boot dressing, which helped break them in quicker once it was applied. Before the dressing, they were like any typical leather boot which had pinch spots and a caused a couple slight blisters during the break in period. Once the dressing was applied, the difference in fit was noticeable. Both the sole and insole have nice balance between being soft enough, but not too soft like a running shoe. I’ve had these boots since mid-April and there’s almost zero wear to the soles, even after walking on concrete and asphalt.I prefer this style of boot over the moc toe. ... MoreCustomer service was great in fitting this boot over the phone. There’s fewer seams to break, plus in my trials with other moc toes, the additional seams create additional pinch points when stepping. The Bull Run is great for those with narrow feet; the heal cup is secure, while the rest of the boot stretches just enough, especially with a few layers of boot dressing.I’d like to see a goretex version of the Bull Run.

I really like this boot. Break in was quick and painless. After a couple of weeks they feel great. Sizing is generous. I have bunions and usually have to order wide sizes but in these the standard D width fits great. They’re also a unique and cool style. The only gripe is about the tongue. I’d read reviews complaining about this but dismissed them as folks who couldn’t figure out how to use the tongue slits or tie their boots properly. Nope. The slits in the tongue are useless as they don’t line up with where the laces cross. Tying the laces tight enough to hold the tinge in place would make them too tight to wear comfortably. The tongue flops to the side no matter what you do. It’s not enough to get rid of the boots but it’s enough that I don’t think I’d buy ... MoreI really like this boot. Honestly, when I was in the marines I never liked the look or feel of the danners. Was a Bates man for sure. Years later after taking shrapnel to my legs in the stan and even after breaking my femur n tibia. I have to say danners are my go to for work as a pipefitter. These boots are so much lighter and more comfortable hands down than my thorogoods. I own 5 pairs of these. Call me crazy but they are well worth it and I’m not going to be in a spot looking for boots like when these were out of stock for a year. Plus I’ve never seen anyone on jobs it’s wearing them and everyone always asks what they are

Its a solid boot. It would of been a 5 star but the inside toe grommet on the left boot is a little high. This makes the boot lace pull it up when the boots are tied.Ive been wearing danners for almost 22 years. My first pair was 8” Acadias. The price is right. And I know what I'm getting. A solid comfortable boot thats gonna last about a year and a half before it needs to be rebuilt. And if it cant be rebuilt they usually give you a deal on a pair of new boots. Customer service has always been easy to deal with. Keep up the good work.

Looked good, and I normally love Danner boots.l but these were very uncomfortable, the tongue is thin leather which causes lace bite. The lace material doesn’t stay tight while lacing until you get to the top, but then you get lace bite on the ankle. Wish it had a padded tongue. The footbed was not comfortable, which is odd because other Danner boots are comfortable right out of the box.Was expecting something like my moc-toe 6” leather sharp tail boot but with a white sole, not at all what it was like. Was very disappointed, had to return them. The comfort was that of a $60 boot, not $200.Danner customer support was great though, through the purchasing process and had no hassle with the return. Low quality with design flaws, should not be marketed as a work boot.
12 January 2020

The first pair of Danner boots that I purchased were the Mountain 600 model. After occasional hikes and days of work as a finish carpenter the seams in the leather uppers began to separate and they were no longer water resistant. When the lace hooks began to pop off (not while tying laces or wearing them overly snug) I decided to return them for warranty. Danner gladly issued me an online refund and I chose to purchase the Bull Run boots as they are marketed as a made in America work boot with seemingly better quality than the Mountain 600 and more suited for the work I do. Break in was not brutal and only took about two weeks after being oiled with Whites leather conditioner to be very comfortable. However the tongue doesn’t seem to be long enough and isn’t sewn in high enough which makes the tongue always migrate to one side of the boot leaving my socks exposed. After four weeks of wear the soles began to separate and I returned them under warranty. Danner again gladly replaced and shipped me another pair. The second pair of Bull Run boots had the same issue with the tongue and a similar break in time and after a 4-5 weeks one of the upper lace hooks popped off (again, not while tying, lacing or snugging them up. I was simply wearing them). I continued wearing the boots for another few weeks with the lace hook missing until I had time to drive to the factory store and explain that I would like a refund, not exchange because I no longer want to continue to exchange for boots that aren’t made with quality. Danner suggested that I was pulling the laces too tight when tying the boots and that if I wasn’t satisfied with the bull run boots I could try a higher end boot like the Power Foreman, Quarry, or their version of smokejumper boot and pay the difference. I was not willing to get into the $300-$400 price range with Danner because the quality didn’t look much better than the Bull Run at $190 and I already own a pair of whites and Hoffman's Boots. So, I left that day with a gift card because they didn’t have any Bull Run boots to exchange in my size and had to later drive to another danner store to pick up the boots, which after getting home and wearing I discovered had a large fold inside of the toe cap. I decided to wear the boots anyway after being frustrated with returns and exchanges but was forced to again return to a danner store after the toe cap cracked and separated from the leather after two days of wear. Another trip to the danner store to again ask for a refund, not return. Danner again would not refund my money but gladly issued me and exchange and suggested again that I try a higher end boot that was suited for work (you will find the Bull Run boot on display in their work boot section in stores and online). I left that day with another pair of Bull Run Boots only to return home to find that the right boot has no plastic toe cap at all! Another trip to the danner store today to ask for a refund, not exchange....same story. Danner did not have an exchange in my size but offered to ship me a pair when they are available next week after refusing to make another trip to the Danner store. How many times will Danner exchange defective boots and how can it be worth it for them? Danner has great customer service and return policies if you’re willing to stay with them as a costumer and try their entire boot line but their quality and designs are low and flawed. Please consider the time, energy, and money it will cost you to receive warranty exchanges. Please do your research when buying boots and buy truly American made boots (made in America with American materials) if you can. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Outstanding boot and Customer Service

I been in my trade for 25 years now and the entire time I have worn 2 boots with competitors of Danner. I wanted to try something different and hated being stuck with the Moc toe everyone has. I was deep in YT vids looking at leather, sole material, etc and was uncertain so decided on the 8" Bull Run and upon opening I instantly knew it was a winner. The leather is absolutely top notch from start to finish and something about it requires no padding it just wraps like an old baseball glove. The design of the tongue is excellent as what they did was trim it back to cap the shin ever so much and has no bunching or binding. The decision to run speed hooks vs eyes they need to be hugged, no struggle getting boot off and snug fit. Stitch down is great and break in took me 1 day not even that 6 hours max. On the 3rd day for some reason the sole at the tip started to separate no clue why called in for warranty spoke to Liz and had my boots 2 days later, must of been not enough glue on that run hope its not an issue. Over all extremely pleased and AMERICAN MADE!

The boot is OK, first
23 April 2023

The boot is OK, first of all the toe box is narrow. My only other concern is that the right boot fits so much different than the left, left boot is perfect, the right boot fits sloppy and I have a ton of heal slippage. I did call customer service, they said since I used the boot they can not be exchanged. This was a disappointment because if I had a problem with my Keen or Red Wing boots, they would of exchanged or refunded if it was 30 days from purchase. I am also wondering if the right boot is the just made or labeled incorrectly.Honestly, I wish I would have gone with the quarry or even the pronghorn hunting boot. Thanks,Scott R.
