This is my third book written by David Busch. First two were Canon DSLR 5D mark 3 and mark 4. Now I bought for R5.I was a bit lost until I bought this book. David goes discussing setup and also teaches photography which some of us can still use. He goes over each option first in high level and later in detail this helps you understand your camera in detail. Owners manual is not a guide it is just a manual. This book is a guide which will help you understand your camera in detail. I recommend it highly.

I haven't got much into it but it is larger and much more detailed than the usual manual sent out with the camera that I do not think they send out anymore because it is an online thing. I like a book that I can read in a chair instead of having to do it on a computer. Anyhow it is well worth the price and am amazed at how much I get for so little.

I ordered this guide as soon as I recieved my R6And item was back ordered, waited 2 monthsAnd can state Was Worth the Wait !Is 462 pages of info from Camera operation andFeatures to tips on Lighting and Lenses and flashes and much more..If you are not a Very Experienced or Professional level Photographer , this bookIs A Must Have to realize the Potential ofThe R5 / R6 series .
Like all of David Bush's Guides, this manual explains all of the available function settings of the camera. It's easy to understand what the various settings actually do and how they can best be used. David's setting recommendations for various photographic situations are excellent starting points. The R5 & R6 are sophisticated computers that happen to record images and video. Virtually all controls are programmable and there are many interactions between control settings that are not noted or explained in the Canon provided User Guide. This manual is necessarily large because of the R5 & R6 complexity, but does explain how to optimize settings for your needs and preferences in reasonable detail. This is the manual that Canon should have included with every R5 & R6.
The booklet you get with the camera gives you basic information about the camera and it's functions. This book takes it further and helps with settings and how to use the various functions for different situations. I'm not a complete novice when it comes to photography, I use this camera alongside my Canon 1D I bought a couple of years ago. The book is full of useful tips and information and is clearly laid out and easy to understand and will help you to make the most of your camera. I'd recommend it as a complete replacement for the Canon booklet.
I bought this book to get an honest explaination of the features and ergonomics of the R6 camera. David's clear and complete explanations made it easy to select this camera. I have ordered the Mark II version. I highly recommend getting this book if you already own the camera or are looking at purchasing it.
An excellent, comprehensive on all aspects of not only the physicial attributes of these very impressive cameras, but importantly, endless practical applications of the "how to" nature as well. When you think of it, this is the key thing - a camera is a fascinating and complex technical object in itself, but it is a "tool" to record what motivates and inspires the photographer. So being guided through the technology "in action" is absolutely core and critical. This book does it very impressibely indeed! Thank you!
This has to be THE top book on the subject. The quality of the book and the illustrations are superb. The author is very meticulous and covers every conceivable detail. His table of contents, references and cross-references, and index make it easy to find anything. His writing style is clear, down-to-earth, and non-techie.Highly recommended to get up the learning curve on this awesome, powerful camera.
Busch covers all aspects of using the R5/R6 in detail. However he seems to take the Canon manual and repeat its contents in a slightly different approach.I found I could better understand the excellent tracking of the focus features when I did a Google search of the subject. The book overall is well written. Its fault is you must jump from chapter to chapter when trying to learn a particular feature.Busch mentions,” I cover that in another chapter “ quite frequently. It would be nice to give a more, “cookbook” style step by step procedure at times.
