The Dazzle i purcsed was brought at a great value and is proving to be exactly what I needed to remove the footage I shot years ago with my camera. I have imported items back to my computer and I am now getting things prepared to create a DVD. This item does exactly what its supposed to do .

I have some tapes where the noise is high and found that my ATI All in Wonder AGP card did a better job at importing the video, but was much harder to get working compared to this product. Another problem I had was the fact that it appears to be a repackaged product. I bought it onsale for about half price and it arrived in what appears to be repackaged form. The inside had double plastic inserts that were stapled together, except one staple was hanging as if someone had already been in this product and tried to put it back together. The conversion from VHS to digital was of very poor quality. I tried different vcrs and cables- it was always blurry. You can get a much better image mounting your smartphone in front of a tv screen and using the video record on the camera. I threw the product away.

It got the job done, obviously the quality is only as good as the 30 year old tape. But every minute or so (it seems), it just skips a beat, annoying but what can you do, if this is all you want to spend. The item I received was used, scotch tape holding the box lid closed, box marred up, a piece missing where tape before had been pulled off. Yes it p'ed me off, they send an obviuse used item. Won't work with Win 7. I couldn't find any help on Pinnacle website. Wouldn't work with XP on Win 7 VM either. Had to revert to the XP install on seperate partition (had it there ... This product appears to be a great inexpensive way to convert VHS to disk. The program loads easily but that is the end of "easy". Having attempted several options, including buying new DVD player/recorders for our computers to no avail. Support is very hard to get and now there is a possibility that I would need to get new video cards for our computers. So much trouble for something that should be very simple.

But that program of Pinnacle for Win 10 64 bit worked beautifully, and thus I was able to do what I wanted to do. I just needed this to convert my old videotapes into digital video for easier storage. If you guys really want good videos, i suggest getting a more costly card, This card is basically for people tight on the wallet. Also, before i bought this, i had wondered if you could record directly to the hard drive instead of DVD. the answer is yes. However, 113 mins is your cap on a 1TB hard disk. and it took up only like 4GB on mine.
Unless your very familiar with editing a video be prepared for trial and error. Prior to doing anything go to Pinnacle site and watch each tutorials to give you an idea of what your options maybe. Most likely you will want to purchase the Ultimate 12 and all addons. Then be prepared for the live chats with Pinnacle agents. This can be OK but it depends on who a person is chatting. Have a great day is an under statement. Be cautious when "saving as" and NOT TO CHANGE THE FILE EXTENSION. My mistake I lost every edit. Easily done if a user starts typing in defaulted highlighted field when naming a project.
What I expected for 50 bucks. I'm using it to convert home movies that are on VHS to DVD. I plugged my VCR into the USB device, put a DVD in the tray, hit play on th evcr and then record in the software and it does the rest. The quality of the vhs tapes is already pretty lousy since the movies are over 30 years old and already converted from another format to VHS a long time ago so the few options provided by the dazzle software are enough for what I need. If you want to be able to do any editing then get something else. This is software for recording the video source and nothing more.
